Steven Holl: Architectural Poet This issue on Steven Holl Architecs is a continuation of “Steven Holl: The world we live in” published by UED magazine in 2013. How does holl interpret these abstract concepts to architectural language? Why is Holl rated as one of the architects who are best expert in using the light in modern architecture? What is his secret to maintain energy and enthusiasm for architectural creation? Welcome to “Steven Holl: Architectural Poet”. On the way of making architecture, footsteps follow.EDITOR'S NOTE Copyright ©博看网. All Rights Reserved.。
UED: You are rated as one of the architects who are best expert in using the light in modern architecture. In your works, light seems to be endowed with life. Could you share with us that how do you use the natural light in the architecture?Steven Holl: For me, light is for space, what sound is for music. The experience of architecture, the overlapping perspectives—it is the equivalent of spatial acoustics in light. If you have a piece of music, you have the score, you have the rhythm, you have some kind of polyphony, you have some kind of a structure, then there is sound that executes and brings it all to life. Otherwise, it is just an abstraction. The same applies to architecture, you have the spatial conception, the conceptual strategy, but none of that is really alive until you infuse it with the light.UED :您是如何将诗歌意境、哲学概念等因素体现在建筑作品中的?
