Starter Unit 3 What color is it?

Section(1a-2e)

Teaching objectives:

Knowledge objectives :

1) Words: color, red, white, black, blue, green, yellow, purple, brown and letters Ss ~

Zz.

2) Master the sentences:

① — What's this? — It's V.

② — What's that? — It's Z.

③ — What color is it? — It's red.

Emotional objective:

Students can develop the consciousness of pronounce the words and letters.

Teaching procedures:

Ⅰ. Presentation

Check if the ss could say the right colors.

Ⅱ. Show some pictures

1. (teacher show the cards with the letters from Ss to Zz to the students.)

T: What’s this? (Point to the letter "Ss")

Ss: It’s S.

T:Read “Ss” after me.

Ss: “Ss”.

(The same with "Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz")

Let Ss read all the letters aloud, and try to remember them.

2. (teacher use the card to ask students) T: What color is it? (Point to the red card.)

Ss:(Help Ss to answer) It's red.

T: What's this?

Ss: It's "Ss".

T: What color is it?

Ss: It's red.

(The same with "Tt, Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz")

3. Let Ss look at the picture in 1a. Read the colors on the left then read the letters. Write the

letter for each color.

Ss write the letter next to the colors. Then let some Ss read their letters to check the

answers.

Ⅲ. Listening

1. Tell Ss to look at the picture in 1a. Some students are talking about the colors and letters.

2. OK. Now let's listen to the recording first. Then repeat after the recording.

3. Ss listen and repeat after the recording.

Ⅳ. Pair work

1. Practice the conversations in the picture with your partner .

T: You are the boy, your partner is the girl and practice the conversations in pairs.

(Ss practice the conversations in pairs.)

T: Exchange the roles. And practice the conversations again.

(Ss exchange the roles and practice the conversations again.)

S1: What's this?

S2: It's U.

S1: What color is it?

S2: It's white.

S3: What's that?

S4: It's T.

S3: What color is it?

S4: It's black.

Ⅴ. Listening 1. Let Ss recite Aa ~ Rr twice.

T:First, let's listen to the letters. 2a

3. Let some Ss read out the letters Ss ~ Zz. (correct the students’ pronunciation)

4. Let Ss try to remember the letters Ss ~ Zz.

5. Now let's work on 2b. Listen and number the letters you hear [1-8].

Ⅵ..Practice

1. Tell Ss to look at the picture in 2d. First, read the letters aloud. Then let some Ss read

the letters to the class aloud.

2. Let Ss try to write down the missing letters. Check the answers with your partner.

3. Let some Ss come the Bb and write missing letters on the Bb.

(注意看学生们的字母笔顺是否正确,纠正不正确的笔顺,并让其他学生引起注意。)

1. Let Ss look at the pictures in 2e. Let some Ss read the letters below each picture.

2. Let some Ss talk about the meaning of each picture.
