Reading: A Student of African Wildlife

1. 学情分析

The teaching subjects are the students in senior one. However, most of the

students are bad in learning English and they have no interest in English. It is

necessary to arouse their interest in reading text and to lower the degree of reading

tasks.

2. 教学目标

1)Able to understand the reading passage and grasp some necessary information.

2)Get to know more about animal protection and humanitarian spirit.

3. 教学重点和难点

1)By this lesson, students can understand the whole reading passage and finish

the reading tasks.

2)There may be some obstacles for students because of the lack of vocabulary

size and reading skills.

4. 教前准备

1)Get students to review new words before class.

2)Provide additional information for students, including chimps and some great

women.

5. 教学过程

1)Leading-in

- Ask students to discuss a question: How human beings come into being?

- Show a picture and then review simple biological species in Book 3.

- Ask students to choose which animal has the closest connection with

human beings? (fish/chimp/dinosaur/bird)

- Ask students to discuss a imagine: Is it possible to live with chimps?

(to lead the main character, Jane Goodall in ) 2)Before reading

- Introduce some basic information of Jane Goodall.

3)While-reading

- Ask students to go through the passage quickly and divide the passage into

two parts, a visit to chimps & Jane Goodall.

- Get students to reading th first part (para.1) carefully and figure the

sequence of the events happened during the visit

- Get students to find out the conclusion of the visit.

- Get students to reading the second part (para.2-4) carefully and match the

time points with the description of Jane Goodall’s growth process.

- Get students to think about Jane Goodall’s choice: to work with animals in

their own environment.

- Show some pictures that some animals were encaged and ask students to

discuss: Are all animals should be encaged while studying?

- Let students to sum up the achievements mentioned in the reading passage

that Jane Goodall has made.

4)After- reading

To conclude the characters that Jane Goodall owns.
