Good afternoon, everyone ,its my great honor to be here to present my teaching plan. The teaching material i am going to talk about is a reading passage. It is the second part of the travel journal called “journey down the Mekong ”taken from new senior english for china , unit 3 travel journal. This unit is to introduce to us wangwei and wang kun’s experience of traveling down the mekong river. It is written in the form of travel journal by wangkun,.since this is the third period of the unit , students have already know something about the story in the last classes, therefore they have a strong interest to know more about this story. Generally speaking ,it is not difficult for students to understand the text, but, to make the students retell the whole story is the difficult point. how to get the students to master the important words and expressions in both reading material is anticipated as the key points . . According to the analysis of the teaching material ,i think the following teaching objectives should be achieved.Firstly , the knowledge aim is to enable students to master the key words and expressions appeared in this unit. Meanwhile ,review the key words appeared in the former passageSecondly , the ability aim is to enable students to master the basic reading skills, such as skimming, scanning. Meanwhile encourage them to express their own travel plans using the language they have learned in the class. The third one is the emotional aim. By the end of the lesson , students should learn to enjoy the fun of traveling and appreciate the beautiful sceneries in china and the whole world, thus making them love our country , love the world and love nature. To achieve the aims above , i will follow the three stage model for reading ,that is pre-reading, while-reading and post- reading .since reading is an interaction between the reader and the text ,i will follow the interactive principle for the pre-reading ,task-based teaching method for the while-reading ,and cooperative learning principle for the post reading .Now let me introduce my teaching procedure in detail .First , the lead-in , i will show some beautiful scenery pictures on the screen. The purpose is to arouse students interest and warm up the atmosphere. Then, for the pre-reading section, i will do a revision. Some information will be shown on the screen and students are required to retell the part one of the travel journal, which we have already learned two days ago. And then review some key words we have learned in the first part of the journal.Next is the While-reading part , it consists of two parts, that is the fast reading, and detail reading. For the fast reading section, ask the students to read the passage as quickly as possible to get a general idea. Then answer the following questions:When and where did the trip begin? What is their next stop?who will join them? After they finished , we will move to the detail reading. The first activity is to draw a time line.Since the text follows the order of time, i will ask students to find out the words and expressions that describes the time. And then make a time line on the blackboard, ask students to found out what they did before the late afternoon, in the late afternoon, in the early evening ,after supper and at midnight respectively. And then i will show four diagrams on the screen. Students are required to conclude What they see?what they do and how they feel during the journey following the order of time. That is what they see and how they feel when they climb the mountain ,when they are on the top of the mountain, and when they go down the mountain and when they at the foot of the mountain. This activities intends to make students have a further understanding of the passage. .Meanwhile i will write the key words that appeared in the text on the blackboard, and give some explainations. For the post-reading part ,firstly, ask students to work in pairs to discuss and answer the questions listed bellow the text on page 22What items are wangkun and wanwei carrying with them? What do you think they will have to leave behind in Dali? How does wangkun feel about the trip now ?What do you think changed his mind?Secondly , i will show them an passage on the ppt with some blanks, actually, this passage is an outline of the reading material. And then i will ask students to fill the blanks with the words that appeared in the reading material. This two activity emphasizes the output of language and can help to consolidate their learning.Meanwhile ,it can help to strengthen their understanding of the part2 .The last part is homework , i will ask students to review what we have learned today and review the key words and phrases appeared in both part 1 and part 2.Of course, in order to help my students learn more effectively and efficiently , i will use the multi-media devices , the blackboard ,and ppt files. To sum up , i firmly follow the principle that teacher is the helper , participator and guider of the class , and students are the real communicators. That’s all , thankyou very much .。
