There is no doubt that we should take positive attitudes towards our setbacks. We should spare no efforts to analyze the cause of failure, which could help us escape repeating the similar mistakes. Only when we find out the cause of our failure can we make progress in our study. As for your anxiety, I think doing some sports is good for you because it can give you some time to be refreshed in both body and mind so that we can go on with our learning energetically and efficiently.I hope all above can help you a lot. It made school difficult for me. When everyone else in the class was focusing on tasks, I could not.In my first literature class, Mrs.Smith asked us to read a story and then write on it, all within 45 minutes. I raised my hand right away and said,“Mrs.Smith, you see, the doctor said I have a ttention problems. I might not be able to do it.”She glanced down at me through her glasses, “you are no different from your classmates, young man.”I tried, but I didn’t finish the reading when the bell rang. I had to take it home.In the quietness of my bedroom, the story suddenly all became clear to me. It was about a blind person, Louis Braille. A pony(马驹) bit me earlier.”As it happened, the bite was virtually painless: more the kind of small bite you might get from a naughty child. The pony responsible was queuing up for some ice c ream in the car park near Haytor, and perhaps thought I’d jumped in ahead of him.The reason why the ponies here are naughty is that Haytor is a tourist-heavy area and tourists are constantly feeding the ponies foods, despite sighs asking them not to. By feeding the ponies, tourists increase the risk of them getting hit by a car, and make them harder to gather during the area’s annual pony drift(迁移).The purpose of a pony drift is to gather them up so their health can be checked, the baby ones can b e stooped from feeding on their mother’s milk, and those who’ve gone beyond their limited area can be returned to their correct area. Some of them are also later sold, in order to limit the number of ponies according to the rules set by Natural England.Three weeks ago, I witnessed a small near-disaster a few mils west of here. While walking, I noticed a pony roll over on his back. “Hello!” I said to him, assuming he was just rolling for fun, but he was very still and, as I got closer, I saw him kicking his legs in the air and breathing heavily. I began to properly worry about him. Fortunately, I managed to get in touch with a Dartmoor’s Livestock Protection officer and send her a photo. The officer immediately sent a local farmer out to check on the pony. The pony had actually been trapped between two rocks. The farmer freed him, and he began to run happily around again.Dartmoor has 1,000 or so ponies, who play a critical role in creating thediversity of species in this area. Many people are working hard to preserve these ponies, and trying to come up with plans to find a sustainable(可持续的) future for one of Dartmoor’s most financially-troubled elements.25.Why are tourists asked not to feed the ponies?A. To protect the tourists from being bittenB. To keep the ponies off the petrol stationC. To avoid putting the ponies in dangerD. It will affect tourism in Dartmoor.D. It has caused an imbalance of species3.If humans were truly at home under the light of the moon and stars, we would go in darkness happily, the midnight world as visible to us as it is to the vast number of nocturnal(夜间活动的) species on this planet. Instead, we are diurnal creatures, with eyes adapted to living in the sun’s light. This is a basic evolutionary fact, even though most of us don’t think of ourselves as diurnal beings. Yet it’s the only way to explain what we’ve done to thenight: We’ve engineered it to receive us by filling it with light. The benefits of this kind of engineering come with consequences 一called light pollution 一whose effects scientists are only now beginning to study. Light pollution is largely the result of bad lighting design, which allows artificial light to shine outward and upward into the sky. III-designed lighting washes out the darkness of night and completely changes the light levels 一and light rhythms —to which many forms of life, including ourselves, have adapted. Wherever human light spills into the natural world, some aspect or life is affected. In most cities the sky looks as though it has been emptied of stars, leaving behind a vacant haze(霾) that mirrors our fear of the dark. We’ve grown so used to this orange haze that the original glory of an unlit night —dark enough for the planet Venus to throw shadow on Earth—is wholly beyond our experience, beyond memory almost. We’ve lit up the night as if it were an unoccupied country, when nothing could be further form the truth. Among mammals alone, the number of nocturnal species is astonishing. Light is a powerful biological force, and on many species it acts as a magnet(磁铁). The effect is so powerful that scientists speak of songbirds and seabirds being “captured” by searchlights on land or by the light from gas flares on marine oil platforms. Migrating at night, birds tend to collide with brightly lit tall buildings.Frogs living near brightly lit highways suffer nocturnal light levels that are as much as a million times brighter than normal, throwing nearly every aspect of their behavior out of joint, including most other creatures, we doneed darkness .Darkness is as essential to our biological welfare, to our internal clockwork, as light itself.Living in a glare of our own making, we have cut ourselves off from our evolutionary and cultural heritage—the light of the stars and the rhythms of day and night. In a very real sense, light pollution causes us to lose sight of our true place in the universe, to forget the scale of our being, which is best measured against the dimensions of a deep night with the Milky Way—the edge of our galaxy—arching overhead.31.According to the passage, human being .A. prefer to live in the darknessB. are used to living in the day lightC. were curious about the midnight worldD. had to stay at home with the light of the moon32.What does “it”(Paragraph 1) most probably refer to?A. 【参考范文】短文写作A possible version:It's a common sense that we are always encountering much failure in different stages of life. Under these circumstances, what matters most is not only our persistence but also our attitudes. In our daily life, however hard we try, failure will accompany us like shades. When it comes to this topic, unforgettable memories crowd in my mind. I once did so badly in a critical exam that I lost a precious opportunity to be admitted to a key senior high scho ol. I wasn’t aware of my laziness and carelessness. Instead, I thought the difficult exam and the neglect of my parents were to blame for my failure. I regarded myself as a stander-by and never learned to shoulder responsibilities for my own. It was my head-teacher's timely instruction that made me face difficult situation any time it appeared, after which I became more confident and diligent. The coming success made me popular among my peers. Never shall I forget this impressive experience. It can be concluded from the above mentioned that positive attitude makes a true man while being timid before misfortune results in a failure. Facing any failure bravely can achieve a great success.【湖北省天门市2014模拟】短文写作(共1题;满分30分)目前我国中学生的健康状况越来越差,这使父母、学校和专家感到忧虑。
AWhat follows are two psychology studies that impressed me.1.Why Absolute Rudeness Impresses PeopleIf asked, most of us would probably say that we despise rudeness, but research suggests that we also see it as a sign of power.A 2011 study indicates that the ruder someone acts, the more observers believe that he or she is powerful. The participants of the study read about a visitor to an office who marched in and poured himself a cup of “employee only” coffee without asking. In another case they read about a bookkeeper that flagrantly (公然地) bent accounting rules.Participants rated the rule breakers as more in control and powerful compared to peop le who didn't steal the coffee or break accounting rules. In a follow-up experiment, participants watched a video of a man put his feet on another chair, tap cigarette ashes on the ground and rudely order a meal.Participants rated the man a s more likely to “get to make decisions” and able to “get people to listen to what he says”.This study indicates that violating rules is viewed by others as a sign of power, even if the observers would judge those violations as rude or wrong.2.Visualize Success if You Want to FailFor many years we've heard that visualizing our success is key to achieving it —but a study conducted in 2011 indicates otherwise. It suggests that not only is positive visualization ineffective, but it may do just the opposite.Researchers proved that thinking about positive fantasies of success drains (耗尽) the energy out of ambition. When we imagine having reached what we want, our brains fall for the trick.Instead of gathering more energy to get there,we give a relaxation response that is like how we would feel if we'd actually reached the goal.We slide into our comfort shoes—blood pressure lowers, the heart rate decreases, and all is well in the success world of our mind's making. One of the experiments tested whether thirsty participants would experience an energy drain from visualizing a glass of icy cold water and found that indeed,in even something so basic, the brain responds as if the goal has been reached.【解题导语】本文列举了令作者印象深刻的两项心理学研究。

Many factors account for the pollution, yet nothing but human behavior is the main reason. With no effective measures taken by the government, many factories pour amounts of waste water into rivers without treating it.Obviously, drinking heavily polluted water will do great harm to human health, in which case many people are faced with potential risks of sickness or even death. To avoid the tragedy, something practical should be done from now on. First of all, the government should take measures to deal with water pollution seriously. What's more, we suggest some popular programmes be produced to teach people, especially the owners of factories, how to avoid pollution. Only by raising people's awareness of the environmental protection can we enjoy clean water and a healthy life.(二)材料作文Writing 1(2015·北京卷)假设你是红星中学高三学生李华,请给你的美国朋友Jim写一封邮件,告诉他你打算参加龙舟训练营,希望他一起参加。
