I just had the best day ever at the zoo with my family and I can't wait to tell you all about it!We woke up super early because the zoo opens at 9am. I was so excited that I could hardly sleep the night before. I just love seeing all the different animals. My favorite animals are probably the big cats like lions and tigers. They're so strong and powerful!When we got to the zoo, the first thing we did was go see the elephants. They're the biggest animals at the zoo and they're just incredible. One of the elephants was using its long trunk to grab some hay and put it in its mouth. Its trunk is like a really long nose but stronger. I wish I had a trunk like that to grab things with!After the elephants, we went to see the polar bears swimming in their big pool of water. They looked so happy splashing around and diving under the water. Even though it wasa hot day, the polar bears didn't seem to mind because their thick fur coats keep them warm. I'd love to go swimming with polar bears one day! Well, maybe not actually IN the water with them. That might be a little scary.Next up were the monkeys! The zoo has so many different kinds of monkeys – big ones, little ones, ones with long tails, and even some that look kind of like little people. They were jumping all around their enclosure, swinging from branches, and making lots of funny noises. My little brother tried to imitate their noises and it made us all laugh. Monkeys are such clowns!We took a break for lunch and had a picnic under a big shady tree. Mom had packed sandwiches, apple slices, cookies, and juice boxes. Yum! While we were eating, a family of ducks came waddling over looking for crumbs. I saved them a few pieces of my cookie to snack on.After lunch, it was time for the ZOOvenir shop! I picked out a stuffed lion to take home with me. He's super soft and cuddly. I named him Leo. My brother got a bouncy ball with a zebra pattern on it. We're going to have so much fun playing with our new toys!One of the highlights was definitely the giraffe exhibit. Those long necks are just unbelievable! A few of the giraffes weresticking their huge tongues out to grab leaves off the tops of the trees. Their tongues are purple – how crazy is that?! If I could be any animal for a day, I think I'd want to be a giraffe so I could see everything from way up high.We finished off our day at the zoo by watching the sea lion show. Those sea lions are SO talented! They were balancing balls on their noses, shooting basketballs through hoops, and even waving to the audience. We clapped and cheered for them after all their tricks. The zoo trainers who work with the sea lions have really cool jobs.On the way out of the zoo, we stopped to look at the hippos one more time. There was a big hippo mom with her adorable baby hippo calf swimming together. The little one was so tiny compared to its mom! I hope I get to come back to the zoo again soon to see that cute baby hippo and all my other favorite animal friends.What an amazing day! The zoo is the best place ever for kids like me. I learned so much about different animals and had a blast watching them play, swim, eat, and just be themselves. I'm already counting down the days until my next zoo adventure!篇6My Favorite Sports and GamesHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I go to Oakwood Elementary School and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you all about my favorite sports and games to play.First up is basketball! I love shooting hoops and playing pickup games with my friends during recess and after school. We have a basketball court right on the playground which is super convenient. My favorite part is doing a big wind-up and trying to throw the ball right into the net. Swish! Nothing but net! I'm not the tallest kid, but I can really jump high to grab those rebounds. My friends and I like to pick teams and play games of 21 or knockout. It's so much fun running around, passing to teammates, and trying to score buckets.Soccer is another sport I can't get enough of. We play it a lot in gym class and I'm on a recreational league team too. There's a huge open field behind my school that's perfect for scrimmages during recess. I love dribbling the ball really fast and trying to get past defenders. Scoring a goal is the best feeling ever! My teammates and I celebrate so hard, jumping around and cheering like crazy. I'm a pretty good shooter but I still need to work on my heading skills. I get nervous whentheball comes flying at my face! I play defense a lot too, shadowing the otherteam's strikers and trying to steal the ball away. Soccer keeps me running constant sprints which really gets my heart pumping.Sometimes we skip the traditional sports and just play fun running games at recess. My favorite is probably grounders - it's like dodgeball but you have to roll the ball and try to hit people's feet instead of throwing. It takes a lot of skill and strategy to grab the ball quickly and get low for a grounder shot. You really have to be on your toes (no pun intended!). Another awesome running game is kickball, which is like baseball but you kick the ball instead of hitting it with a bat. I'm a pretty good kicker so I enjoy that aspect. Rounding the bases and trying to make it home is such a thrill! Lots of close plays at the plates.Four square is one of the classic ball games we break out on the playground. It's kind of like handball but you use a bouncy ball and stand in a square court. When the ball comes to you, you have to hit it to someone else's square. People are constantlyscrambling around to keep the ball in play. You can execute all kinds of crazy trick shots by slapping or kicking the ball. The key is keeping your eye on it and being ready to react fast. Sometimes the ball rockets around the court so you have to be alert!Video games are more of an indoor recess type of activity. On rainy days at school we often break out the Nintendo Switch for some Super Smash Bros battles. I'm amaster with Kirby and can really suction cup punch people off the stage. Having full-on 8-player tournaments is pure pandemonium, with characters and special effects flying everywhere! Mario Kart is another classic that we love playing together. There's nothing better than an intense race coming down to the final lap. You have to skillfully drift around corners while simultaneously trying to shoot shells backward to stall your opponents. It's honestly just as physically draining from gripping the controller and leaning your body into the turns!At home, I'm a big fan of Roblox and Minecraft for more open-ended gaming fun. In Roblox you can explore millions of different worlds and games created by players from all over. My favorite is the fun little tycoon and simulator games where you start off small but can gradually build up a huge operation, whether it's a pizza parlor or a theme park. Minecraft allows your creativity to run wild as you can construct absolutely anything you can imagine out of blocky elements. My friends and I will hop on a server together and collaborate on building a gigantic castle or underground lair. The possibilities are endless!Phew, I'm getting tuckered out just thinking about all these amazing games and activities! Whether it's dashing around outside or battling it out on the couch with controllers in hand, playing is one of the most fun parts of being a kid. I love getting exercise while working with friends as a team. Games combine physical activity, cooperation, friendly competition, and pure silliness - what more could you want?
