Blood is thicker than water
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, good morning!
I am highly honored to be invited to make a speech on “Blood is thicker than water”I will divide my presentation into three main parts.
To begin with, i’d like to say something about the origin of the proverb—“Blood is thicker than water”. And then, I will illustrate the meaning of the proverb with two examples. In the end ,I will give some suggestions after our complete understanding of the profound meaning of the proverb.
In ancient China, the parents often used a special method to confirm their own child who got separated from their parents for many years since the day the child was born. The method is that the parent and the child respectively dripped several drops of their own blood into a bowl of full clear water. If the parents and the child had a blood relationship, the drops of different blood will break through the barrier of water and fuse together. This is the origin of the proverb----“Blood is thicker than water”.
"Blood is thicker than water" is a recognizable proverb that has surpassed the test of time. The generally accepted interpretation is that the bond of those related by blood is stronger than the bond of marriage or friendship.
Usually, people understand the proverb from three different point of view and the profound meaning of the proverb is getting deeper and deeper.
Firstly , from the perceptual perspective of view: Compared with water ,the density of blood is greater than that of water.
Secondly, from the cognition perspective of view: W hat joined family members together is blood. It means that family is more important than anything.
Thirdly, from the extension perspective of view: Love is more important than other emotions. This love consists of the love between mother and child, the love between the motherland and the people and also the love between brothers.
例子1:父母对儿女的爱
The greatest and most unselfish love is the parents’love to their children. Parents’love is often compared to the sea, and the child was just like a boat. Our parents give our lives , giving us the opportunity to look at the colorful world, giving us the chance that we can live together. It is because the same blood runs in our pipe of the body; We have the same childhood experiences, We share the same last name; we own the familiar memories. So, my dear friends,we should express our gratitude for parents. So we should also love our parents
例子2:祖国对人民的爱
Motherland raised our sons and daughters of China. Motherland gave us a peaceful and stable environment to grow up , give us nutritions. More and more overseas Chinese are returning or have already returned to China to contribute their share towards the China's construction of modernization. Despite the length of time they have spent abroad, or regardless of the life they may have lead, they are often disposed to return to their roots, to come home.Because they are grateful for their homeland's nourishment and support, they return to contribute to the construction of their country with the knowledge, experience and wealth acquired abroad.
The proverb ----“Blood is thicker than water”shows us what we can do to return with our country, our parents, and our siblings.
We should put our love to our country before the love to ourselves, and ar e willing to make any sacrifice for it.
The Chinese still living in China should cherish and love our country, and give back with our knowledge and actions in order to cultivate the country's p resent and future.
The Chinese nation inherits the blood of Chinese ancestors.Chinese people all over the world should unite. It is because blood is thicker than water. Because we are brothers and sisters , The same blood runs in our pipe of the body.
Let us look at what I had talked about .Fistly, I talked the origin of the proverb “Blood is thicker than water”.Secondly, I touthed on the profound meaning of the proverb using several examples. And finally, I discussed what we should do after understand the meaning of proverbs。
