The thermostat is designed to provide refrigerator compartment temperatures of –2 to 1°C on coldest, and 5 to 8°C on warmest, depending on the altitude and climate that the product is operating in.Setting the freezer control (the baffle) colder or warmer will set ONLY the freezer colder or warmer. One notch movement of the baffle will adjust the freezer temperature by approximately 1°C.The storage temperature in each product will vary depending on the climatic temperature, the altitude, and the usage pattern of each customer. MID freezer and MID food compartment settings are the best starting settings but customers should adjust gradually to suit their storage temperature preference, the climate that they live in, the altitude they live at and how theyuse the product. Why does climatic temperature variance affect storage temperature? For the basic customer requirement of preserving food safely an electromechanical thermostat and baffle system is ideal. When the climatic temperature gets very hot or very cold then the customer may need to adjust the baffle to maintain their preferred storage temperatures. This is because as the climate gets very cold then there is only minor cooling required to keep the refrigerated section of the product cold. Because the thermostat is best located in the refrigerator section then the freezer tends to warm up. This can be overcome by setting the freezer colder, which directs more air to the freezer section when the fan and compressor come on.Likewise when the climate temperature gets very hot the refrigerator section will be running for longer periods and overcoming lots of door openings as customers refresh in the hot weather. The freezer will tend to run colder in these conditions so it can help to save energy and give the refrigerator more capacity to recover from the higher usage if the freezer is set warmer.Page 7 RESI108Why does altitude variance affect storage temperature slightly?Thermostats consist of an expanding/contracting vessel filled with refrigerant. As the refrigerant warms up it expands and completes an electrical circuit which turns the fridge on. As altitude increases, that is we get higher above sea level, then atmospheric pressure decreases. That means that the vessel has to heat up a little less to complete the electrical circuit. The net result is that a product operating approximately 1000m above sea level will operate approximately 1-2°C colder than it would at sea level. The product should be set slightly warmer in these regions to compensate.THERMOSTAT OPERATIONThe cut out and cut in temperatures of the thermostat at sea level are:1446274Coldest Mid WarmestCut In 1.5 ± 2.0 5.5 ± 1.2 9.5 ± 2.0Cut Out -2.5 ± 2.0 1.5 ± 1.2 5.5 ± 2.01444849Coldest Mid WarmestCut In 3.0 ± 2.0 6.5 ± 1.2 10.5 ± 2.0Cut Out -1.5 ± 2.0 2.5 ± 1.2 6.5 ± 2.0Note that the thermostat has a rotation of 305°. These figures are for the thermostat as fitted to the control housing for which only 180° adjustment is available.DEFROST SYSTEMGeneral defrost system parameters:Time Between Defrosts - 8 Hours Compressor On TimeHeater on Time - VariableDry Defrost - Expect 8 to 12 minutes heater on timeHigh Usage Tropical Climate - Expect up to 30 minutes heater on timeDrip Time After Defrost before- 5 minutesCompressor Start upDefrost Termination Thermostat - Bi-Metal- Cut In 0°C, Cut Out +11°CThermal Fuse - +72°C Blown Cut OutWhy does the freezer sometimes hiss, is gas leaking? To achieve the frost free cooling environment moisture and ice need to be removed from the product. Depending on usage and climate the product will “defrost” the cooling system which is located in an insulated compartment at the back of the freezer. The hissing sound is not a gas leak but water dripping onto the heating element used to melt and remove the ice. These generally happen approximately once a day for 20 minutes and insulated and shielded so food storage quality is not compromised during this period.Page 8 RESI108Page 9 RESI108REMOVAL OF DOOR HANDLESPage 10 RESI108REMOVAL OF THE LIGHT LENS AND REAR CONTROL HOUSINGGives access to the Lamp, Thermostat & Manual Baffle.Remove the knobs. To access the manual damper, either remove the gasket, or slit it at the points indicated by the arrows. The insulation block can then be hinged back to access the damper. When re assembling, the gasket must be replaced or resealed at the slits.REMOVAL OF THE TOP CONTROL HOUSING Gives access to the Defrost Timer.Remove the Rear Control Housing first.REMOVAL OF THE DEODORISER COVERTO SLIDE THE FRONT SHELF UNDER THE REAR SHELFREMOVAL OF THE FRONT SHELF FROM THE ASSEMBLYREMOVAL OF THE CRISPER COVERADJUSTMENT OF THE DELI BINIt is possible to slide the Deli Bin from side to side. Two slides (LH & RH) control the air flow to the bin.TO DISASSEMBLE THE SUPPORT FRAME & DELI BINADJUSTMENT OF THE SNUGGERTO REMOVE/REPLACE EVAPORATOR COVER(Gives access to Fan Motor/Blade, Evaporator, Defrost Heater, Thermal Fuse, Defrost Termination Thermostat & Drain Trough)To remove the evaporator cover, use a hooked tool similar to the one in the drawing belowTwo plug buttons covering the screws can be removed with a flat bladed screwdriverCarefully warming up the evaporator cover with a hair dryer will make it pliable for removal. Place the hooked tool pointing downwards into the bottom corners of the louvres (as indicatedby the arrows). Pull on the tool until the clips on the rear of the cover disengage to the extentthat the cover is removable by hand.To refit, position the evaporator cover into the rear of the freezer and push firmly to lock theclips into place.TO REMOVE/REPLACE DOOR GASKETSTo remove the door gasket, start in one of the corners and pull perpendicular to the inner door panel. Once it is released from the corner it can then be peeled off the remainder of the door.To fit a gasket, start by pressing it into the corners first. With the gasket fitted into the corners, move around the door pressing the gasket into the inner panel groove using your thumbs.TO ACCESS THE PRE COOLER AND DEFROST TRAYTilt the refrigerator backwards and support. The pre cooler and defrost tray should be visible on the underside of the cabinet. Unclip the three clips on the LH and RH pre cooler brackets. Easethe pre cooler downwards to access both the pre cooler and defrost tray.INSTALLATIONCLEARANCES AROUND THE REFRIGERATOR Recommended minimum clearances are :• 3cm on each side.• 9cm above the refrigerator.• 5cm behind the refrigerator. The refrigerator should arrive with the front adjustable rollers wound down to tilt the top of the refrigerator backwards by about 10-15mm from the upright. The stability foot should also be wound fully up so it will not interfere with the operation of the rollers.WARNING: The rollers are designed for forward and backward movement only. They are not castors. Moving the refrigerator sideways may cause damage to the floor and rollers.• Roll the refrigerator into its final position.• The top of the refrigerator should be tilted back by approximately 10-15mm. This will allow the doors to self-close providing a consistent door seal. It is normal for the freezer door tomomentarily open and reclose when the food compartment door is closed firmly. If the freezer door stays open you will need to tilt the refrigerator backwards a little further.• If the refrigerator is not tilted back, you can adjust the two front rollers by turning the large plastic roller nut. This will increase the height of the rollers. One turn of the nut will tilt the refrigerator back approximately 10mm. If you have difficulty turning the roller nut you can have someone tilt the refrigerator back, so that you have better access. Alternatively, you can access the rollers from the side, using a flat screwdriver to help you turn the nut.• If the refrigerator now rocks from one corner to the opposite rear corner, this means that the flooris uneven, you will need to put some packing under one of the rear rollers. You could use thin pieces of solid material, such as thin board, vinyl floor tiles or laminate. Place the packing so that it will sit under one of the rear rollers when the refrigerator is rolled into position.• Check the alignment of the refrigerator to the surrounding cupboards. The top of the refrigeratorshould be level from side to side. If you need to adjust the level, use the adjustable rollers. When you have the refrigerator in its final position wind the stabilising foot down until it just makes contact with the floor. When you need to move the refrigerator, be sure to wind the foot back up so that the refrigerator can roll freely.Stabilising foot wound down.AIRFLOW DIAGRAMREFRIGERATION DIAGRAMREFRIGERATION DIAGRAMFor Models N280J, N300J, & N330J from Serial Number 42455916WARNINGIT IS ILLEGAL FOR PERSONS OTHER THAN LICENSED ELECTRICAL MECHANICS OR PERSONS AUTHORISED BY LEGISLATION TO WORK ON THE FIXED WIRING OF ANY ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION. (the 2 terminals FAST-ON have different dimensions).5MAIN FUNCTIONS5.1NormalIn case of first switching on with a freezer compartment temperature higher than 10 °C, the appliance operates with a test cycle (for the factory) for a maximum time of about 1,5 hours. In this period do not perform tests for the correct operation of the appliance, since the loads of the appliance are activated only for internal check (compressor and electric valve). When the appliance is off then:•the compressor is off;•the displays are off.Pushing the ON/OFF button, the displays switch on with the following displaying:•+ symbol on cooler display;•flashing digits of the freezer;•freezer temperature alarm LED (buzzer active).Push the alarm deactivation button to deactivate the buzzer.Regulate the temperatures of the compartments so as to set the following values:•about +5 °C in the cooler;•about -18 °C in the freezer.Warning: Unplug the appliance before operating.5.2FROSTMATIC Function (rapid freezing)The FROSTMATIC function (rapid freezing) is activated by pushing the relative button, therefore:•The pilot lamp relative to the FROSTMATIC function lights up;•The compressor operates in thermostatic conditions and not continuously (like the temperature knob was on max. position) for a duration of about 52 hours, and then it deactivates automatically. To deactivate the FROSTMATIC function push the relative button.5.3COOLMATIC Function (rapid cooling)The COOLMATIC function (rapid cooling) is activated by pushing the relative button, therefore:•The pilot lamp relative to the COOLMATIC function lights up;•The compressor operates in thermostatic conditions and not continuously (like the temperature knob was on max. position) for a duration of about 6 hours, and then it deactivates automatically. To deactivate the COOLMATIC function push the relative button.5.4HOLIDAY Function (valid only for the cooler)The HOLIDAY function is activated when the customer does not want to use temporary the cooler. In this case it is not necessary to leave the cooler door open, because a 15 °C temperature is automatically set to avoid the formation of bad odours inside. To activate the HOLIDAY function push button + (temperature increase) till letter H is shown in the cooler dis-play.Obviously the cooler must be empty because the 15 °C temperature does not allow the preservation of the most common food.the sensor is out of range), then:When the sensor operates again normally, the above described conditions terminate.Characteristics of the NTC sensor:•The display shows cooler temperature sensor faulty.•The appliance operates with preset cycle when the compressor is powered for 40 minutes andremains off for 40 minutes alternatively.the sensor is out of range), then:When the sensor operates again normally, the above described conditions terminate.Characteristics of the NTC sensor:•The display shows freezer temperature sensor faulty.•The appliance operates with preset cycle when the compressor is powered for 40 minutes andremains off for 40 minutes alternatively.6ALARMS6.1Freezer compartment temperature alarmWhen the freezer compartment reaches -11 °C, the
