一、教学目标:
1. 语言知识目标:
1) 能掌握以下单词: humorous, silent, helpful, from time to time, score
能掌握以下句型:
① Paula used to be really quiet.
② —Did Mario use to be short? —Yes, he did.
③ —What’s he like now? —He’s tall now.
2) 能够用英语描述自己或他人过去常常做的事情;发现自己或他人在外表、性格、兴趣等方面所发生的变化。

三、教学过程
Ⅰ. Lead in
1. 大屏幕展示Ryan Carter的几张照片,引导学生们来描述他的长相特点。
T: What does he look like?
S1:He has long curly blonde hair.
S2: He has a round face, two big eyes. He’s a little heavy.
T: Does he like his hair? Can you guess?
S1:No, he does. He wants to cut it short.

Textbook Analysis:(教材分析)
Functionally, unit 4 is a transitional unit from the “past tense to passive voice”. Its
topic is “taking about the past thing or person” and aims to build the Ss ‘ability
to
describe the changes in the past .
Section b 3a is a warming-up part before writing,which encourages the Ss to talk
about their own changes .Section b 3b is a writing task ,which requires the students to
use the “used to” pattern to describe his /her changes
By accomplishing the tasks in Section B 3a-3b ,writing skills will be developed .

Although the pattern “used to be ”is relatively easier than the other units
,the
students would still make mistakes when practicing the structure .Also ,they may have

1. I used to be afraid of the dark. 我过去害怕黑暗。
used to 表示“过去常常做……”,其后接动词原形,否定形式didn’t use to 或usedn’t to。如:
I used to walk after supper. 我过去常常晚饭后散步。
I didn’t use to walk after supper.=I usedn’t to walk after supper.
巧记used to do
used to 过去常常,后边动词原形来帮忙。否定didn’t/usedn’t,didn’t出现更经常。
辨析:used to do,be used to doing与be used to do
used to do 意为“过去常常”,表示过去的动作。如:
He used to get up late. 他过去起得很晚。
be used to sth./doing 意为“习惯于”。如:
We are used to reading English in the morning.
我们习惯于早上读英语。
I am used to his class.我习惯他的课了。
be used to do 意为“被用于”,为被动语态。可以用be use for doing代替。如:
The writing brush is used to draw.
=The writing brush is used for drawing.
画笔是用来绘画的。
2. She was always silent in class. 她在课堂上总是很安静。
silent adj. 安静的。其名词形式为silence。常见短语为keep silent。如:
