Let students listen to the recording and do Activity 4.T: Next we’ll listen to a recording. In the recording, four students are talking about their cartoon story that is edited based on Tony’s trouble. Listen carefully and then answer the questions.The questions are on the blackboard:Q1: Who helped Tony find his lost camera?Q2: Did their cartoon story have a happy ending or a sad ending?T: You can hear sentences like: This isn’t one of those cartoons which make you laugh. This structure is made up of two parts. One part is “This isn’t one of those cartoons.” The other part is “ which make you laugh.” The second part is used to describe the noun “cartoons” in the second part. Can you find the sentences with the same structure as this one?Students are encouraged to find out all the sentences with the same structure in the dialogue. Then let them report the sentences individually.S1: The cartoons I like have lots of jokes. Here “I like” describes “the cartoons”S2: And the characters I like are heroes like superman or Batman. Here “I like”describes “the characters”.S3: We need someone like Superman who can save Tony. Here “who can save Tony” describes “someone”.S4: I’ve got a camera which has got his name on it. Here “which has got his name on it” describes “a camera”S5: It’ll be a cartoon which has a happy ending. Here “which has a happy ending” describes “a cartoon”…Step 2 Pair work (Activity 4)In this procedure, students should try to find out the details in the dialogue by listening again, and check their listening ability by doing Activity 4 in pairs.Sample answers to Activity 4 in pairs:S1: What does Betty think the ending will be?S2: This cartoon can’t make us laugh.S1: Why is the situation no laughing matter?S2: Because Tony’s dad will be angry when he knows that his camera is lost.S1: How do you think Superman can save Tony?S2: Superman has magic power. / Superman can create a surprise.S1: Who does Mr. Jackson give the camera to?S2: To Damming.S1: When will Tony possibly find out that his friends have got the camera?S2: When he sees the flash.S1: Why does Betty says she’ll be Superman?S2: Because she wants Tony to know that she saves him.T: Well done!
