Help! I've just had my breasts enlarged and I don't like the new size. British embassy -- sort out my boobs!
Along with tips on jam-making and how best to discipline naughty boys, these are just a few of the bonkers requests being fired at British embassies around the world, the Foreign Office said Thursday.
The country's 261 diplomatic missions across the globe are getting fed upof bizarre demands for help from Brits abroad, some of whom seem to think the British embassy is an agency for finding lost sunglasses and paying bills.
"If you have a serious problem abroad -- maybe you've been involved in an accident, have lost your passport or are a victim of crime -- we can help you," said Juliet Maric, the British Consul in Alicante on the Spanish east coast.
Speech given by Her Excellency Ambassador Mme Fu Ying at the Farewell ReceptionMandarin Oriental Hotel, London6 January

In the 1920s, the Chinese envoy to UK was Gu Weijun, a great diplomat whom I highly admire. When he was asked what was the most cruel Chinese saying, he quoted this proverb: ‘However grand the feast, it always has to end’.

Experience in Chongqing/
In October 1938, then British Ambassador to China Sir Archibald Clark Kerr flew to Chongqing to set up the embassy. The embassy was first stationed in Consul Lane, then on E’ling Main Street and Ma'anshan of Nan 'an District. During the bombing of Chongqing, foreign embassies and consulates in Chongqing were not spared due to the indiscriminate bombing policy of the Japanese army. During the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the British embassy was the one that suffered the most bombing and losses. In order to avoid Japanese bombing, the British embassy moved its main business to the Nan’an District in 1941. However, around the former embassy in Lingshi Lane, there are still some temporary offices dealing with related businesses. From July 1941 to 1946, the British Embassy was moved to the Wenfeng section of Huangjueya in Nan 'an District, which was once the site of the German Embassy. Near the embassy, there was also a residential area for embassy staff in the Bai’er mountain peak in the Nan’an District. The former site of the British embassy, surrounded by a forest, is located on a hillside at the junction of Nan’an district and Banan district. It is a Chinese and western-style one-story house with a civil structure and brick columns. It faces the east, and has five rooms arranged in a bar shape, covering an area of about 300 square meters. From February 1942 to January 1946, three British ambassadors to China including Sir Horace James Seymour worked here successively. Although the British embassy and consulate in Chongqing suffered heavy losses and experienced many relocations during the Japanese bombing of Chongqing, the then British ambassador to China, Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, and his successor, Sir Horace James Seymour, insisted on working in Chongqing and contributed to the Sino-British relations during the war. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Chongqing Peidu Pharmaceutical Factory once owned the property right. In 2013, it was listed among the seventh batch of national cultural relics protection units in Chongqing.
