Most of them usually complain that they really don‟t like to take part in those interest classes which their parents have chosen for them. But our parents cannot understand these complaints. In their opinion, they spend lots of money and time to provide children a better education as possible as they can.America: In America, parents never impose education on children. They pay attention to children‟s instinct and natural development. They prefer making their children practice by themselves, going to the nature and seeking knowledge from life.Children ‟s study lies in many kinds of forms such as cooking class, handwork classand the playroom. American parents do not think that play and study conflict witheach other.2.The aspect of social lifeChina: In China, parents have authority and dominance in family. It seems that children are their own private properties and need to be protected well. They would interfere with children‟s dating(交友). For example, making friends with opposite sex is mostly not to be allowed by parents so as to thwart puppy love. Furthermore, parents restrain children from complex society in order not to be hurt or get bad influences.America: However, American family emphasizes equality and democracy. Parents think of the child as an equal and independent member in the family. The aspect of financial supportChina: Chinese parents meet children‟s needs and buy many luxuries, such as: phones, MP4 and so on. Furthermore, they give children enough pocket money to buy what they want in daily life. If children run out of all the money, they would give more.Besides, Chinese parents pay all the tuition fees for children. In a word, Chinese children get used to depending on their parents.As a result, many of them who are good at study lack the skills of living.You may have heard a piece of news: A boy who attends a famous university cannot take care of himself, so his mother has to give up her job to look after his son. Besides, Chinese students are not good at social intercourse. They have bad communication skills, especially in front of strangers. It will take much time for them to adapt to the changing society when they leave school.America:In America few parents will give pin money to children. Parents encourage children to work and earn money. According to statistics, about 54% American children can‟t get pin money from parents. American children were encouraged to interact with real life experiences. American parents give children enough opportunity to contract with society which allows them to be fully trained in various matters since they were young. They think part- time job or something like that can gain their children‟s experience and capability to adjust society.In America, children are more independent and confident. Chinese people are educated to be fictile followers, and lack of an environment to get new ideas on the whole.The Different Economic PatternsAmerican commodity economy is highly developed and the productive force is advanced. One can get jobs in many ways. The pressures of living are smaller than Chinese. In America, there are many kinds of jobs for Americans to choose. In Americans' opinions, anyone can get other's respect, no matter what his job is. Besides, commodity economy is changing all the time; jobs are changing at the same time. By contrast, China is a developing country. The pressure of living is great. One person may do only one job in his whole life, so Chinese always put all their happiness on a job. Chinese emphasis the team spirit and comprehensive abilities of a child, they attach more attention to the behavior of normalization and self-condition, they against the independent consciousness, the parents tell their children that they should take part in the group to adapt the society. In America culture, they emphasis people foremost and attach weight to individual potential and creativity. Chinese pay more attention to general character while Americans attach attention to personality.Different Ways of ThinkingAmericans encourage rationalism while Chinese encourage affection. America education praise rationalism highly. Most of American parents consider the responsibility of raising a child the same as the responsibility to the society. They stand not only in an individual position but the social position. Chinese parents consider the children as their own private property.
