It has a really cool history that goes back over 3,000 years. Beijing used to be called Peking, which means "Northern Capital" in Chinese. One of the most famous things in Beijing is the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is this huge palace where the emperors of China lived a long, long time ago. It's called the Forbidden City because regular people couldn't go inside back then. The Forbidden City is painted pretty colors like red and yellow, and it has these cool sloping roofs with decorations on top.Another really neat place in Beijing is the Summer Palace. It used to be where the emperors and their families went to relax and get away from the hot summers in the city. The Summer Palace has a huge lake called Kunming Lake, and there are all sorts of pretty gardens, bridges, and buildings around it. One famous place in Beijing is the Forbidden City, which used to be the home of emperors long ago. The Great Wall of China is another well-known spot near Beijing – it is an incredibly long wall built many hundreds of years ago to protect China. It covers a massive area of over 16,000 square kilometers! That's bigger than some whole countries. The streets are always crowded with people, cars, buses and bicycles going about their days. There are tall skyscrapers downtown for offices and businesses, along with older neighborhoods with traditional courtyard homes and narrow hutong alleys.Even though Beijing is such a modern, global city today, it has a incredibly long history dating back over 3,000 years towhen it was just a small settlement. Over the centuries, it grew to become the capital of several dynasties and empires that ruled China. The most famous historical site left over from the imperial era is the Forbidden City. It is a massive palace complex right in the heart of Beijing. It has 9,999 rooms and was home to 24 different emperors from the Ming and Qing dynasties over nearly 500 years until the last emperor abdicated in 1912.To protect the city and empire, the emperors built a series of huge stone walls and watchtowers known as the Great Wall of China. While parts of it were constructed even earlier, the most famous sections around Beijing were built during the Ming Dynasty in the 1300s and 1400s. The Great Wall extends over 20,000 kilometers across mountains and deserts, making it one of the most incredible construction projects humans have ever undertaken. Today, the sections of the Great Wall near Beijing are a major tourist attraction that millions visit each year.Beijing today combines its rich history and cultural heritage with modern advancements. You can find world-class museums, theaters, parks, restaurants and sports venues throughout the city. Major events like the 2008 Summer Olympics were hosted in Beijing's iconic Bird's Nest stadium. On the afternoon of September 10,some of us decorated our classroom with paper flowers and balloons, and others went to buy cakes, drinks and fruits. Some of the girls sang songs for Ms. Li, and three boys showed their kung fu talent. Before we left, we enjoyed a new English song by Ms. Li.Ms. Li spent a wonderful time with us, but we know that we cannot thank her enough for all her hard work and guidance.北京的'英语作文篇5In your spoken English class, your teacher shows you the following picture. You are asked to describe the picture and explain how you understand it.What an interesting picture! A western young man, sitting at a table, is ready to eat a bowl of noodles. He is holding two forks the same way as we Chinese hold chopsticks. He is trying so hard to pick up the noodles that he is sweating a lot. At first glance, I think it’s a bit funny, for we Chinese take for granted that chopsticks are the tools for eating noodles. The man in the picture is trying to copy us. Obviously he is doing it the hard way.Maybe using one fork will do a better job, In my opinion, we don’t need to copy others’ ways of thinking. Sometimes a simpler way of doing things may be a better way.北京的英语作文篇6Beijing has a long history with an abundance of historical and cultural heritage that represents treasures from the city's civilizations. The Forbidden City is the largest and most magnificent cluster of ancient buildings in China. 介绍北京的英语作文篇1People native to urban Beijing speak the Beijing dialect, which belongs to the Mandarin subdivision of spoken Chinese. Beijing dialect is the basis for Standard Mandarin, the language used in the People's Republic of China, the Republic of China on Taiwan, and Singapore. Rural areas of Beijing Municipality have their own dialects akin to those of Hebei province, which surrounds Beijing Municipality.Beijing Opera, or Peking Opera (Jingju), is well-known throughout the national capital. Commonly lauded as one of the highest achievements of Chinese culture, Beijing Opera is performed through a combination of song, spoken dialogue, and codified action sequences, such as gestures, movement, fighting and acrobatics. Much of Beijing Opera is carried out in an archaic stage dialect quite different from modern Standard Mandarin and from the Beijing dialect; this makes the dialogue somewhat hard to understand, and the problem is compounded if one is not familiar with Chinese. As a result, modern theaters often have electronic titles in Chinese and English.A hutong in eastern Beijing near Dongsishitiao. In this March 2003 photo the left side was still standing, but it has since given way to new construction. The Siheyuan is a traditional architectural style of Beijing. A siheyuan consists of a squarehousing compound, with rooms enclosing a central courtyard. This courtyard often contains a pomegranate or other type of tree, as well as potted flowers or a fish tank. Siheyuans line Hutongs , or alleys, which connect the interior of Beijing's old city. They are usually straight and run east-to-west so that doorways can face north and south for Feng Shui reasons. They vary in width — some are very narrow, enough for only a few pedestrians to pass through at a time.Once ubiquitous in Beijing, siheyuans and hutongs are now rapidly disappearing, as entire city blocks of hutongs are leveled and replaced with high-rise buildings. Residents of the hutongs are entitled to apartments in the new buildings of at least the same size as their former residences. Many complain, however, that the traditional sense of community and street life of the hutongs cannot be replaced. Some particularly historic or picturesque hutongs are being preserved and restored by the government, especially for the 2008 Olympics. One such example can be seen at Nanchizi.Mandarin cuisine is the local style of cooking in Beijing. Peking Roast Duck is perhaps the most well-known dish. The Manhan Quanxi ("Manchu-Han Chinese full banquet") is a traditional banquet originally intended for the ethnic-Manchu emperors of the Qing Dynasty; it remains very prestigious and expensive.Teahouses are also common in Beijing. Chinese tea comes in many varieties and some rather expensive types of Chinese tea are said to cure an ailing body extraordinarily well. The Jingtailan is a cloisonné metalworking technique and tradition originating from Beijing, and one of the most revered traditional crafts in China. Beijing lacquerware is well known forthe patterns and images carved into its surface. The Fuling Jiabing is a traditional Beijing snack food, a pancake (bing) resembling a flat disk with filling, made from fu ling (Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf, or "tuckahoe"), an ingredient common in traditional Chinese medicine.介绍北京的英语作文篇2As the capital of the People‘s Republic of China, Beijing is the nation‘s political, economic, cultural and educational center as well as being the most important center in China for international trade and communications. It has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history. 介绍一个城市英语作文六年级北京全文共5篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite City - Beijing!Hi everyone! Today I want to tell you all about my favorite city in the whole world - Beijing! Beijing is the capital city of China and it's where I was born and raised. It's a huge, bustling city with over 21 million people living there. That's a lot of people! But Beijing is super cool and there's so much awesome stuff to see and do. Let me give you a tour!First up, the famous Forbidden City! This was the palace where the emperors of ancient China lived with their families. It's called the "Forbidden City" because regular people weren't allowed to go inside for a long time. The Forbidden City is made up of almost 1,000 buildings with yellow glazed tile roofs. Walking through the huge courtyards and halls makes me feel like a little emperor myself!Right across from the Forbidden City is Tiananmen Square. This is one of the biggest public squares in the world and a lot of important events have happened here throughout Chinesehistory. Every day, tons of locals and tourists come to walk around, fly kites, and take pictures in front of the giant portrait of Mao Zedong hanging on the gate. The square can fit almost a million people!Another awesome place to visit is the Summer Palace, which used to be the garden and summer retreat for the imperial families. My favorite part is the Long Corridor, which stretches for almost 1 kilometer! The ceilings are painted with thousands of amazing pictures. Walking down the corridor, you feel like you're in an endless butterfly dream. For the real daredevils, you have to go to the Beijing Olympic Park. This is where the 2008 Summer Olympics were held. You can see the iconic Bird's Nest stadium and even go up to the top for an amazing view of the whole city! My friends and I love racing each other up and down the stairs. It's an awesome workout.Of course, you can't forget about the Great Wall of China, one of the true Wonders of the World. Parts of the Great Wall are just a short drive outside of Beijing. It's incredible to stand on this massive stone wall snaking over the mountains as far as the eye can see. It makes you feel so tiny but also proud to be Chinese. My parents say I have to hike the whole thing one day! When I'm not exploring the amazing historic sites, I love just wandering around the lively hutong neighborhoods. Hutongs are the old alleyways and courtyard homes where you can still find traditional stores, tea houses, bell towers, and drum towers. It's like stepping back in time! Plus, the hutongs are where you'll find the most delicious Beijing street food - jianbing crepes, tanghulu candied fruit, and my personal favorite, stinky tofu!Speaking of food, Beijing has some of the yummiest cuisine in the country. We're the hometown of real Beijing duck - thin crispy skin with soft tender meat that you wrap up in a little pancake with scallions, cucumber, and sweet bean sauce. Just typing about it is making my mouth water! Beijing is also famous for hot pot, where you cook a huge variety of meats and veggies right at your table in a big simmering pot of broth. It's the ultimate interactive meal that brings everyone together. As you can probably tell by now, I'm obsessed with Beijing and all it has to offer. The deep history and rich culture everywhere you look. The perfect blend of ancient traditions with modern innovation. The endless options for sightseeing, activities, entertainment, and out-of-this-world dining. Beijing has been my beloved home for my whole life and I feel so lucky.Whether you're an adventurous tourist or a lifelong local like me, Beijing will take your breath away every single day. From the majestic palaces and temples to the bustling markets and food stalls, this city is truly one-of-a-kind. I've traveled to other parts of China and even other countries, but nowhere matches the energy and spirit of Beijing. It's always pulling me back home.So what are you waiting for? Grab your walking shoes and Mongolia air tickets. Come experience the wonders of Beijing for yourself! I'll show you all the best spots. Just don't challenge me to a race up the Bird's Nest stairs - I never lose!篇2My Awesome Trip to BeijingLast summer, my family and I went on an amazing trip to Beijing, the capital city of China! Beijing is a huge and bustling city with a very long history. It was my first time visiting and I was so excited to explore this fascinating place. We flew into Beijing Capital International Airport, one of the biggest and busiest airports in the world. As soon as we stepped outside, I was blown away by how different everything looked and smelled compared to my hometown. The air was a bit hazyfrom all the traffic and construction, but it gave the city a cool, mysterious vibe. Our first stop was Tian'anmen Square, the massive public plaza right in the heart of Beijing. It's one of the largest city squares in the world and can fit like a million people! We walked across the ancient stones under the huge portrait of Chairman Mao hanging on the gate. The buildings around the square were so grand and ornately decorated. I felt tiny in comparison.Right next to Tian'anmen Square is the mind-blowing Forbidden City. This was the imperial palace where Chinese emperors lived for almost 500 years until the last dynasty ended in 1912. It's absolutely ginormous, with 9,999 rooms! We spent an entire day wandering through all the different halls, temples, gardens and corridors. Everything was built and decorated on the grandest scale imaginable, with bright red walls, yellow-glaze tiled roofs, huge wooden pillars and intricate carvings everywhere you looked. My favorite was the Imperial Garden, filled with wild rock formations, ponds and pavilions. So peaceful and pretty! The next day, we visited the Great Wall of China. This ancient wall snakes over huge mountain ridges for thousands of miles across northern China. We took a cable car up to a section calledBadaling and spent a couple hours hiking along the steep stone pathways. Some parts were totally vertical and had me huffing and puffing! But the views from up there were unbelievable, looking out over the misty green mountains. The Great Wall was originally built for defense, but it must have been an incredible feat of engineering and hard work to construct such a massive series of fortifications over that harsh terrain. No wonder it's considered one of the man-made wonders of the world! We also explored some of Beijing's oldest neighborhoods called hutongs. These are narrow alleys crisscrossed with courtyard homes built in the traditional style. It was like stepping back in time wandering through the hutongs - old men sitting outside playing Chinese chess, kids running around, stores selling all kinds of random goods from buckets, and lots of appetizing smells coming from the family-run restaurants. We had some incredible Beijing cuisine like tangy hot pot, crispy peking duck, and jianbing which is an amazing egg crepe snack. Definitely some of the tastiest and most unique food I've ever had!One night, we attended a cultural show with amazing acrobatics, juggling, contortionists and plate spinning. I have no clue how they could twist and bend their bodies into those crazypositions! Another day, we visited the Beijing Zoo to see the famous pandas chomping on bamboo shoots. Those pudgy bears were so cute and lazy, just lounging around and munching away.Beijing has such a wonderful blend of the ancient and modern worlds. We saw old temples and imperial buildings from dynasties past, but also towering modern skyscrapers, huge malls, tons of lights and video boards, and a super efficient subway system. The city just kept blowing me away with new sights and sounds around every corner.I loved soaking in the culture and history, but also the energy and excitement of Beijing's growth into a major global city. There was so much more we could have explored if we had more time. From the delicious authentic food to themind-boggling historical sights to the warm and welcoming people, Beijing is an absolutely awesome place that I can't wait to visit again someday. This trip was an adventure I'll never forget!篇3My Awesome City - Beijing!Wow, you want me to tell you all about my city? Get ready, because Beijing is the coolest place ever! It's the capital of China and one of the biggest cities in the world. There's so much to see and do here, I don't even know where to start.I guess I'll begin with the mind-blowing historical sites. Beijing has been around for like, a million years, so there are tons of incredible old buildings and palaces. The Forbidden City is my favorite - it used to be the home of Chinese emperors! Can you imagine living in a place with 9,999 rooms? I'd get lost every day! The halls and gardens are breathtaking with bright colors, intricate carvings, and these massive wooden pillars holding everything up. I love learning about the customs and traditions from way back when.Speaking of old stuff, Beijing has some of the craziest temples and monuments too. The Temple of Heaven is this wooden structure where emperors would pray for good harvests. The architecture looks like it's straight out of a fairytale with its blue-tiled roofs and carved dragon designs. And then there's the Bell Tower and Drum Tower that were used to tell time in ancient days before clocks and smartphones existed! It's wild to imagine what life was like back then. But Beijing isn't just about history - it's a modern, bustling city too! The streets are always buzzing with people, cars, bikes, and fascinating shops and restaurants. My parents sometimes take me to Wangfujing Street which is this huge pedestrian shopping area. You can find anything you want there - clothes, toys, books, trinkets, snacks, you name it. The food stalls are unbelievable with stuff like candied strawberry kebabs, chewy milk candy, and exotic fried snacks. It's a carnival for your tastebuds! And let me tell you about the food in Beijing - it's out of this world! I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. There's the iconic Beijing roast duck that's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. You wrap it in a little pancake with some sauce...heaven! Then you've got the delicious Beijing noodles like zhajiangmian, which are thick, chewy noodles smothered in a savory bean sauce. Don't even get me started on the dumplings - steamed, fried, soup dumplings...I've tried them all and they're all amazing. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this!As if the sights, sounds, and flavors weren't enough, Beijing has some awesome parks and outdoor spaces too. My favorite is Beihai Park right in the city center. It has gardens, temples, bridges over lakes, and even an island! You can rent a little boatand cruise around the water if you want. It's the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle for a little while. During public holidays, the park is packed with families having picnics, flying kites, and just hanging out. So much fun!I haven't even mentioned Tiananmen Square which is one of the biggest public plazas in the world. Or the mind-boggling Bird's Nest and Water Cube stadiums from the 2008 Olympics. Or cool places like the Beijing Zoo, the Planetarium, art districts, and more. There's just too much coolness in Beijing to fit into one essay!Basically, Beijing is my favorite place on Earth. It's a magical blend of old and new with amazing sights, sounds, smells, and flavors around every corner. The culture here is so vibrant and there's always some special festival, event, or holiday happening.I feel so lucky to call Beijing my home. If you ever get a chance to visit, you'll understand why I love my city so much! I've got to run now, but I hope I could give you a little taste of how awesome Beijing is. Let me know if you have any other questions!篇4My Awesome City - BeijingHey there! My name is Xiao Ming and I'm a sixth-grader living in the amazing city of Beijing. Today, I'm going to tell you all about my hometown and why I think it's the coolest place ever! Get ready for an adventure because Beijing is like no other city in the world.First off, let's talk about the history of this place. Beijing has been around for over 3,000 years! Can you believe that? It's one of the oldest cities in the world and has served as the capital of China for many dynasties. You can find ancient treasures and historical sites all over the city, like the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the Temple of Heaven. These places are so cool, it's like stepping back in time! The Forbidden City is my favorite historical spot. It used to be the imperial palace where emperors lived with their families and servants. The whole complex is massive, with 9,999 rooms and a ton of courtyards and gardens. It's called the "Forbidden City" because regular people weren't allowed to enter back in the day. Imagine how jealous everyone must have been! But Beijing isn't just about old stuff. It's also a super modern city with towering skyscrapers, fancy shopping malls, andhigh-tech subways. The Beijing National Stadium, also known as the "Bird's Nest," is one of the most iconic modern landmarks. Itwas built for the 2008 Summer Olympics and looks like a giant bird's nest made of steel! They host all kinds of cool events and concerts there.Speaking of events, Beijing is always buzzing with excitement. Every year, we celebrate the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) with colorful decorations, fireworks, and delicious foods like dumplings and nian gao (sticky rice cake). The whole city comes alive with lion dances, temple fairs, and families gathering together. It's the best time of the year! And let's not forget about the food! Beijing is famous for its mouth-watering cuisine. My favorite dish is the classic Beijing roast duck. The skin is so crispy and the meat is juicy and flavorful. But be careful, it can get a little messy when you're trying to eat it with chopsticks! Other must-try foods include jiaozi (dumplings), zhajiangmian (noodles with a savory soybean paste), and tanghulu (candied fruits on a stick).Of course, no visit to Beijing is complete without seeing the Great Wall of China. It's a little bit outside the city, but totally worth the trip. The Great Wall snakes across mountains and valleys for thousands of miles, and it's one of the most impressive structures ever built by humans. Hiking along theGreat Wall is an unforgettable experience, and you can even stay in a nearby village to really soak in the culture and history. But you know what I love most about Beijing? The people! Beijingers are known for their warm hospitality and sense of humor. They're always cracking jokes and making fun of themselves, which makes the city feel so lively and friendly. My favorite thing is listening to the local Beijing dialect, which sounds totally different from standard Mandarin Chinese. It's like they're speaking their own secret language!Speaking of languages, Beijing is also a great place to learn English. Many schools offer English classes, and you can practice your skills by talking to tourists or joining English clubs. Who knows, maybe you'll become a fluent English speaker just like me!Overall, Beijing is an amazing city that perfectly blends ancient history with modern amenities. It's a place where you can explore centuries-old temples in the morning and go shopping at a fancy mall in the afternoon. There's always something new and exciting to discover, whether it's a hidden alleyway filled with quirky shops or a festival celebrating a traditional holiday. If you ever get the chance to visit Beijing, don't miss out! Trust me, this city will blow your mind with its rich culture, delicious food, and friendly people. Beijing is truly one-of-a-kind, and I'm so lucky to call it my home. Until next time, zaijian (goodbye)!篇5My Awesome City - Beijing!Hi everyone! My name is Xiaoming and I'm a 6th grader at Beijing No. 8 Elementary School. It's huge, with over 21 million people living there. Can you imagine? That's a lot of people! But don't worry, the city is so well-organized that it doesn't feel too crowded or messy. One of the most famous landmarks in Beijing is the Forbidden City. It used to be the imperial palace where emperors lived a long, long time ago. The Forbidden City is massively big, with 9,999 rooms! I went there on a school trip last year and got to see the amazing architecture and learn about the history. It was like stepping back in time!Another must-see place in Beijing is the Great Wall of China. This incredible wall winds across the mountains like a hugedragon. Some parts of it are over 2,000 years old! Can you believe people built something so massive without modern tools and machines? The Great Wall makes me feel so proud of my Chinese heritage. If you visit Beijing, you have to try the yummy food! Beijing is famous for its delicious dumplings, noodles, and Peking duck. My favorite is the jianbing, which is a crispy crepe filled with eggs, sauce, and lots of yummy stuff. The smells from the street food stalls will make your mouth water!Speaking of street food, you'll love exploring the old hutong neighborhoods in Beijing. Hutongs are the narrow alleys lined with traditional courtyard homes. It's fun to wander through them and see the daily life of local Beijingers. Sometimes you can even spot the famous Beijing opera performers practicing their singing and acting. In the evening, the city lights up in a blaze of neon. My friends and I love going to the shopping areas like Wangfujing Street. There are so many cool stores, restaurants, and snack stands. One time, we even saw a street performer making amazing sugar figurines!Of course, no description of Beijing would be complete without mentioning the 2008 Olympic Games hosted here. Theiconic Bird's Nest stadium and the dazzling opening ceremony made the whole world go "Wow!" I was just a little kid back then, but I'll never forget the pride and excitement of having the Olympics in my city. There's just so much to see and do in Beijing. From historical sites to modern malls, from fantastic food to exciting events, this city has everything! I feel so lucky to call Beijing my home. One day, I hope you can come and experience the awesomeness for yourself. Trust me, you'll never want to leave!。

Beijing's long and illustrious history started some 500,000 years ago. It is here that the ancestors of modern Homo sapiens, Peking men, lived in caves. Records show that Beijinghas been an inhabited city for more than three thousand years and has endured invasions by warlords and foreign powers, devastating fires, the rise and fall of powerful imperial dynasties and has emerged each time as a strong and vibrant city. For more than 800 years, Beijing was a capital city - from the Yuan Dynasty (1271 - 1368) to the Ming (1368 - 1644) and Qing (1644 - 1911) dynasties. Thirty-four emperors have lived and ruled the nation in Beijing and it has been an important trading city from its earliest days.
