_________________________Many would agree that when we think of Christmas, we probably think of gifts, Christmas trees and Santa Claus. But behind all these things lies the true meaning of Christmas: the importance ofsharing and giving love and joy to people around us. The story in A Christmas Carol is perhaps the best example of this.A Christmas Carol is a famous novel written by Charles Dickens. It is about an old man named Scrooge who never laughs or smiles. He is mean and selfish , and doesn’t t reat others nicely. He just cares about whether he can make more money and hehates Christmas. One Christmas Eve, Scrooge sees theghost of Jacob, his dead business partner. Jacob usedto be just like Scrooge, so he was punished after hedied. He warns Scrooge to change his ways if hedoesn’t want to end up like him. He also tells Scroogeto expect three ghosts to visit him. That night, three ghosts visit Scrooge. First, the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to his childhood . Scrooge sees his happier days as a child. Then the second ghost, the Ghostof Christmas Present, takes him to see how others are spending Christmas this year. Everyone is happy, even poor people. The last one, the Ghost of Christmas Future, takes him to the future. Scrooge sees that he is dead, but nobody cares. He is so scared that he wakes up in his bed and finds out it is only the next morning --Christmas Day!Words List: ghost [g əʊst] n. 去世的eve [i:v] n.前夜;前夕 punish [ˈpʌn ɪʃ] v.处罚;惩罚warn [w ɔ:n] v.警告;告诫 present [ˈpreznt] n.现在 end up 最终成为;最后处于 A Christmas Carol [ˈkærəl] 《圣诞颂歌》小说名 Charles [t ʃɑ:lz ] Dickens [ˈdɪk ɪnz] 查尔斯·狄更斯(英国作家) Scrooge [skru:d ʒ] 斯克鲁奇 Jacob [ˈdʒe ɪk əb] 雅各布教学设计课文标题: The Spirit of Chiristmas单元名称: Unit 2 I think that mooncakes are delicious! 教材版本: PEP Go for it授课年级: Grade 91234。
