Introduction to the Greek Flag The flag of Greece, known as the "Galanolefki" (meaning "blue and white" in Greek), is one of the oldest national flags in the world, with a history dating back to 1822. It has a very simple yet symbolic design, consisting of nine horizontal stripes, alternating blue and white, with a blue canton in the top left corner that features a white cross. Symbolism of the Greek Flag The colors blue and white were chosen because they represent the sea and the foam of the waves, respectively, which are two of the most dominant features of Greece's landscape. The nine stripes on the flag represent the nine syllables in the Greek phrase "Eleftheria i Thanatos," which means "Freedom or Death." This phrase was a rallying cry during the Greek War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire, and it remains a powerful symbol of Greece's struggle for independence. The blue canton with the white cross is said to represent the Greek Orthodox Church, which has been a central force in Greek history and culture for more than a thousand years. The white cross represents Christianity, and it is said to stand for the country's strong religious and cultural heritage. History of the Greek Flag The modern-day Greek flag evolved from several different designs that were used during the Greek War of Independence, which began in 1821. The first flag featured a white cross on a blue field, and it became known as the "Flag of the Revolution." However, this design was later replaced by the "Kolokotronis Flag," which featured a yellow cross on a blue field. In 1822, the present-day design was adopted by the Provisional Government of Greece, which was established after the Ottomans were driven out of the Peloponnese. The flag was officially adopted as the national flag of Greece on December 22, 1978, and it remains a powerful symbol of the country's rich history and culture. Conclusion The Greek flag is a simple yet powerful symbol of the country's proud history and cultural heritage. Its blue and white colors represent the sea and the foam of the waves, while its nine stripes and white cross represent the country's struggle for independence and its strong ties to the Greek Orthodox Church. Whether flying proudly over Athens or waving at an international sporting event, the Greek flag is a powerful symbol of Greece's place in the world.

Wreck Beach
Blue and White 一、 希腊游的建议 为什么去希腊旅游?西方文明的发源地,古老传奇的神话传说,浓厚的历史底蕴,碧空如洗的蓝天白云,清澈见底的无边大海,浪漫炫目的爱琴海落日,任何一点都足以点燃我们去希腊的激情。 如果你可以按照廉价机票的日期灵活安排自己的假期,如果你想体验自由行的快感,如果你有精力做希腊的旅游攻略,如果你有时间事先阅读希腊的历史、神话和传说,那么请忽略以下内容。 作为一个懒人我去希腊是希望度过一个轻松,享受,甜蜜的假期,呼吸着清新的空气,面对着蔚蓝的天空,欣赏着辽阔无边的大海,所以我不想为旅行中的琐事分神,所以我选择跟团游。这样我不用在当地自己租车或者纠结选择哪种交通工具,不用担心因为看不懂英文或者希腊文的地图而走错路耽误时间,不用为了实际费用超出攻略中所写而感到懊恼。效率优先,毕竟对大多数人来说10天左右的长假就好像中彩票一样难得,跟团游可以让我们尽可能的在短时间内游览更多的地方。如果你够幸运,碰上一个像我遇到的好导游那你就赚到了,坐车的路上她会跟你讲诉各种希腊神话和历史,她会自己买碟片让你倾听原希腊著名音乐家雅尼(Yanni)的电子乐,她会让你观看古希腊文明的传播者亚历山大大帝(Alexander)的传奇电影,她会带你到最佳的风景拍摄点不让你错过,她会像保姆一样照顾你的饮食起居,无微不至直到一路陪伴把你们送出境为止。希腊的地接导游一般都是中国人,国人在海外生活也不容易,加上希腊经济不景气,工作难找钱难挣,咱多少也支持一下同胞的生计嘛。 二、 希腊旅游准备物品 1. 自备药品:驱虫剂或者清凉油(海岛上小虫比较多,房间里也会有,这个必须带),晕船药(其实轮船非常平稳,跟在陆地上开车没区别,不放心的可以带),其他根据个人状况;
2. 自备食品:希腊的美食中海鲜很腥,个人感觉受不了,肉食还有羊肉和鸡肉,这个应该大家都能吃得惯。饭前都会提供面包,很干个人吃不惯。酒店的早餐鸡蛋比较常见,味道也不错。建议带点榨菜和方便面,接接地气,几天不吃中餐真的很难受。希腊的矿泉水和果汁价格便宜,食品最好到大型超市买,家乐福(Carrefour)价格最便宜;
3. 生活物品:毛巾(酒店会提供,爱干净的自己带),沙滩鞋(不能少,怎么的也得去沙滩上走走,晒个日光浴),防晒霜(太重要了,少擦一点都不行,要不然就会像去非洲打工回来似的),衣服(夏装颜色越艳丽拍出的照片越漂亮,多用草绿色,红色,橙色以及各种鲜艳的混合色会很好看,海上和岛上早晚温差大,带一件外套是合适的),热水壶(酒店一般不提供,需要喝热水或者煮面的最好自备),牙膏牙刷(酒店不提供,但是卡塔尔航空提供,如下图,没有特殊要求够用了,减轻负担,为了最后的购物腾空间); 4. 旅游必需品:驾照(虽然导游会跟你说中国驾照在当地不好使,不过实际上没问题,特别是在岛上如果不租辆沙滩摩托车就太对不起自己了,米克诺斯岛(MYKONOS)地势低开车OK,圣托里尼岛(SANTORINI)路边都是悬崖安全起见还是算了),太阳镜(绝对少不了,装酷神器),折叠雨伞(一年日照300天以上的地区,没必要带),平底运动鞋(很多景点都在山上,最好带),iPad(听导游说雅典治安不太好,日落之后老实呆在酒店里无事可做,坐一趟轮船基本都得5个小时,去内陆景点的汽车也得4-5个小时,总得有个消磨时间的神器吧,最好多下点电影和游戏,比较不会得抑郁症);
5. 其余物品:单反相机和电池,手机和电池,手机可以开通短期国际漫游,信用卡(VISA、MASTER基本到处可以刷、银联大部分地方都不能用),多准备些现金,购物现金比刷卡划算,双孔圆柱形电源转换头;
6. 注意事项:在同一个tax free的地方购物超过120欧元就可以退税,所以建议买价格较高的东西就统一到一个地方买,纪念品等小玩意儿就随便啦;
三、 希腊购物 1. 手表:可以退税将近20%,国内价格的7折左右; 2. Folli Follie:女包,首饰,手表及配饰,希腊本土品牌,国内价格的5折左右,非常的划算; 3. LV,GUCCI,Chanel等其他奢侈品:可以退税12%左右,国内价格的7、8折左右;
四、 希腊旅游经历 第一天:上海—雅典 1. 一般旅行社会通知你提前3个半小时到机场,集合之后会有领队给大家交代注意事项,然后大家办理登机手续,由于是长途国际航班,因此大家行李都会比较多,办理速度慢,如果是两人出游的话就方便了,可以轮流排队,以免站得腰酸背痛腿抽筋;
第四天:米科诺斯岛—圣托里尼岛(SANTORINI) 1. 睡个懒觉,酒店早餐后在附近转悠一下,如果有时间可以去码头拍些照片; 码头上的灯杆,有没有像雅典娜神杖?很酷吧。 2. 下午前往码头,14点45分乘坐快船(Flying cat)前往圣托里尼岛,17点25分抵达(渡船时间:2小时40分);
