Issues on Weight ReducingNowadays the people are enjoying a more comfortable life and many people are suffering from obesity. Thus, losing weight becomes very popular. However, weight reducing is a tricky topic. Some people lose weight quickly by crash dieting or other extreme measures. This will not help them lose weight since they usually gain back all (and often more) of the pounds they lost because they haven’t permanently changed their habits. What’s worse, sometimes these extreme measures will affect the individual’s health. In my view, before one decides to lose weight, he first of all should make it clear whether he should or not lose weight. The best way to find out if you are at a healthy weight or if you need to lose or gain weight is to talk to a doctor or dietitian. He or she can compare your weight with healthy norms to help you set realistic goals. If it turns out that you would benefit from weight loss then you can follow a few of the simple suggestions which are widelyaccepted by weight reducing experts to get it started.

Some of the information has been given to you in the table. Write only 1 word in each numbered box.information you have heard. Some of the information has been given to you in the table. Write only 1 word in each numbered box.填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:friends)解析:[听力原文] Writing keeps us in touch with other people. In our daily life, we often write to communicate with relatives and friends. We write to preserve our family histories so our children and grandchildren can learn and appreciate their heritage. Nowadays computers and Internet connections become so popular in so many households, colleges, and businesses, people are e-mailing friends and relatives all the time or talking to them in writing in online chat rooms. It is cheaper than calling long distance, and a lot more convenient than waiting until Sunday for the telephone rates to drop. Students are e-mailing their professors to receive and discuss their classroom assignments and to submit them. They are e-mailing classmates to discuss and collaborate on homework. They are also sharing information about concerts and sports events, as well as jokes and their philosophies of life. Despite the growing importance of computers, however, there will always be a place and need for the personal letter. A hand-written note to a friend or a family member is the best way to communicate important thoughts. No matter what the content of the message, its real point is, "I want you to know that I care about you." This writing practice brings rewards that can't be seen in blank accounts, but only in the success of human relationships.填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:assignments)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:heritage)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:thoughts)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:accounts)解析:三、{{B}}Part B{{/B}}(总题数:1,分数:5.00)For Questions 6~10, you will hear a talk about Charles Csuri. Charles Csuri has been a part of many modern art movements. He's worked in Pop Art, Cubism, and Conceptual Art, but he made his mark as a pioneer in computer art. Even long before computers became popular, he was punching cards and feeding them into the big mainframe computer at Ohio State University. In the beginning, he had to work without a monitor, so he was virtually creating art in the dark. He even learned computer programming so he could experiment with this new tool. Through the computer, Csuri has been able to explore a new world of possibilities. For example, the computer enables him to sculpt in three dimensions. Also, he can look at a sculpture from any angle, and move it around, change the location of the light source, or he can copy it in different colors. Over the years, Csuri received numerous funds for various projects. This money allowed him to train students in computer graphics and animation techniques, and to advance the computer as a medium for artists. Even though he uses modern technology, Csuri still insists he is creating art. He's always told his students to focus on art, and not pay so much attention to the technology that you forget about the image.填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:computer art)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:world of possibilities)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:three dimensions)解析:填空项1:__________________ (正确答案:animation techniques)解析:四、{{B}}Part C{{/B}}(总题数:3,分数:10.00)You will hear three passages. Cheat on the Internet.∙ C. Many web sites are destroyed.∙ D. Many illegal web sites are on the Internet.(分数:1.00)A.B. √C.D.解析:[听力原文] The Internet has led to a huge increase in credit card fraud. Your card information could even be for sale on an illegal web site. Web sites offering cheap goods and services should be regarded with care. Online shoppers who enter their credit card information may never receive the goods they thought they bought. The thieves then go shopping with your credit card number or sell its information on the Internet. Computer hackers have broken down security systems, raising questions about the safety of cardholder's information. Several months ago, 25000 customers of CD Universe, an online music retailer, were not lucky. Their names, addresses and credit card numbers were posted on a web site after the retailer refused to pay US $157828 to get back the information. Credit card firms are now fighting against online fraud. MasterCard is preparing to issue a Web-only credit card, with a lower credit limit. The card could be used only for shopping online. However, there are a few simple steps you can take to keep from being cheated. Ask about your credit card company's online rules. Under Brithish law, cardholders have to pay the first US $78 of any cheating spending. Send your credit card information only if the Web site offers an advanced security system. If in doubt, give your credit card information over the telephone.(2).How can thieves get credit card information?∙ A. The customers give them the information.∙ B. The Development of Science and Technology.∙ D. Modern Life in 2040.(分数:1.00)A. √B.C.D.解析:[听力原文] Do you forget to turn off the lights and heaters when you go out of a room? In 2040 it will not matter. They will turn themselves off and on again when you return. You will choose the temperature for each room, the lighting and the humidity. A sensor will detect the presence of a human (and, with luck, ignore the dog!) and turn the systems on, and when the humans leave it will turn them off again. The sensors will work through the central home computer, and they will do much more than just turn the fires and lights on and off for you. They will detect faulty electrical appliances, plugs or switches, isolate them so that they cannot harm anyone, and then warn you that they need repairing. They will detect fire and if you are out of the house, the computer will call the fire brigade. It will also call the police should the sensor detect an intruder. This will not be difficult because the locks on the outside doors will be electronic. You will open them using your personal card—the one you use for shopping—maybe using a number known only to you. It will be impossible to lose the key, and a housebreaker will have to tamper with the lock or with a window. It is not very difficult to make such tampering send a signal to the computer. The computer will be more than a fireman, policeman, and servant. It will be an entertainer, and most of your entertainment will come right into your home. It does now, of course, but by 2040 "entertainment" will mean much more. For one thing, you will be able to take part in it actively, rather than just watching.(2).Who can help you when you leave the room without turning off the lights and heaters?∙ A. A Computer.∙ B. A Key.∙ C. A sensor.∙ D. The neighbors.(分数:1.00)A.B.C. √D.解析:(3).Which is NOT the role that a computer plays?∙ A. Fireman.∙ B. Policeman.∙ C. Entertainer.∙ D. They can stay with the computer for nearly two days on end.∙ D. Their "love" for the computer is so deep that they want to be near their machines even when they sleep.(分数:1.00)A.B.C.D. √解析:[听力原文] It is 4 o'clock in the early morning. Everything but the computing room on the campus of the university appears to be quiet. In the computing room, 30 students crumpled with blurred eyes, sit still at their desk, tapping the dirty and worn keys. Staring at the colorful screen, they tap continuously for hours. For the other parts in the world, it might be in the midst of the night, but time means nothing. It is a totally separate field. These young computer "hackers" are tracing a sort of stimulus; a drive so exciting and absorbing that nothing else is more important. They are addicted computer programmers. Some of these students have insisted for no less than twenty hours even with no break for meals or rest. Some have been sleeping on sofas and lounge chairs in the computing room, trying to struggle for a few minutes' rest but hate to get too far away from their machines. It is not necessary for most of these students to be at the computing room in the middle of the night. What they are working on is not any homework. They remain there because they desire to be—they can not resist the attraction of the computers. Furthermore they are in groups instead of alone. There are hackers at computing rooms all over the country. They focus on nothing but computer. They escape from schooling and live with no friendship; they might have difficulty being employed, choosing to travel from one computing room to another. They may even lose personal health. "There is one hacker in my memory. We actually had to lift him away from his chair to feed him and arrange him to rest and sleep. We truly worried about his health," says a computing science professor at California University. Professors of computer science are nowadays paying more attention on this hacker phenomenon and more and moresevere computer addictives. They know that hackers are not simply resulted from the close relationship with a machine. It is the result of social relationship with the attractive thinking machines, which are becoming nearly universal.(3).The author's attitude towards the "hacker" phenomenon can be described as ______.∙ A. affirmative∙ B. contemptuous∙ C. anxious∙ D. disgusted(分数:1.00)A. √B.C.D.解析:(4).Which of the following may be the most appropriate title for the passage?∙ A. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. There are four choices for each question and you should decide on the best choice.Passage 1Questions 50 to 54 are based on the following passage. As the twentieth century began, the importance of formal education in the United States increased. The frontier had mostly disappeared and by 1910 most Americans lived in towns and cities. Industrialization and the diversification of economic life combined with a new emphasis upon qualifications and expertise to make schooling increasingly important for economic and social mobility. Increasingly, too, schools were viewed as the most important means of integrating immigrants into American society. The arrival of a great wave of southern and eastern European immigrants at the turn of the century coincided with and contributed to an enormous expansion of formal schooling. By 1920 schooling to age fourteen or beyond was compulsory in most states, and the school year was greatly lengthened. Kindergartens, vacation schools, extracurricular activities, and vocational education and counseling extended the influence of public schools over the lives of students, many of whom in the larger industrial cities were the children of immigrants. Classes for adult immigrants were sponsored by public schools, corporations, unions, churches, settlement houses, and other agencies.Reformers early in the twentieth century suggested that education programs should suit the needs of specific populations. Immigrant women were one such population. Schools tried to educate young women so they could occupy productive places in the urban industrial economy, and one place many educators considered appropriate for women was the home. Although looking after the house and family was familiar to immigrant women, American education gave homemaking a new definition. In pre-industrial economies, homemaking had meant the production as well as the consumption of goods, and it commonly included income-producing activities both inside and outside the home, in the highly industrialized early-twentieth-century United States, however, overproduction rather than shortage was becoming a problem. Thus, the ideal American homemaker was viewed as a consumer rather than a producer. Schools trained women to be consumer homemakers cooking, shopping, decorating, and caring for children "efficiently" in theirown homes, or if economic necessity demanded, as employees in the homes of others.Subsequent reforms have made these notions seem quite out-of-date.50. It can be inferred from paragraph 1 that one important factor in the increasing importance of education inthe United States was____________(A) the growing number of schools in frontier communities(B) an increase in the number of trained teachers(C) the expanding economic problems of schools(D) the increased urbanization of the entire country51. The phrase "coincided with" in line 8 is closest in meaning to____________(A) was influenced by(B) happened at the same time as(C) began to grow rapidly(D) ensured the success of52. According to the passage, one important change inUnited States education by the 1920's was that_____________(A) most places required children to attend school(B) the amount of time spent on formal education was limited(C) new regulations were imposed on nontraditional education(D) adults and children studied in the same classes53. Vacation schools and extracurricular activities are mentioned in lines 12 to illustrate_______________(A) alternatives to formal education provided by public schools(B) the importance of educational changes(C) activities that competed to attract new immigrants to their programs.(D) the increased impact of public schools on students.54. According to the passage, early-twentieth century education reformers believed that_______________(A) different groups needed different kinds of education(B) special programs should be set up in frontier communities to modernize them(C) corporations and other organizations damaged educational progress(D) more women should be involved in education and industryPassage 2Questions 55 to 59 are based on the following passage.According to sociologists, there are several different ways in which a person may become recognized as the leader of a social group in the United States. In the family traditional cultural patterns place leadership on one or both of the parents. In other cases, such as friendship groups, one or more persons may gradually emerge as leaders, although there is no formal process of selection. In larger groups, leaders are usually chosen formally through election or recruitment (招募).Although leaders are often thought to be people with unusual personal ability, decades of research have failed to produce consistent evidence that there is any category of “natural leaders.” It seems that there is no set of personal qualities that all leaders have in common; rather, virtually any person may be recognized as a leader if the person has qualities that meet the needs of that particular group.Furthermore, although it is commonly supposed that social groups have a single leader, research suggests that there are typically two different leadership roles that are held by different individuals. Instrumental leadership is leadership that emphasizes the completion of tasks by a socialgroup. Group members look to instrumental leaders to “get things done.” Expressive leaders hip, on the other hand, is leadership that emphasizes the collective well-beings of a social group’s members. Expressive leaders are less concerned with the overall goals of the group than with providing emotional support to group members and attempting to minimize tension and conflict among them. Group members expect expressive leaders to maintain stable relationships within the group and provide support to individual members.Instrumental leaders are likely to have a rather secondary relationship to other group members. They give others and may discipline group members who inhibit attainment of the group’s goals. Expressive leaders cultivate a more personal or primary relationship to others in the group. They offer sympathy when someone experiences difficulties or is subjected to discipline, are quick to lighten a serious moment with humor, and try to resolve issues that threaten to divide the group. As the difference in these two roles suggest, expressive leaders generally receive more personal affection from group members; instrumental leaders, if they are successful in promoting group goals, may enjoy a more distant respect.55. What does the passage mainly discuss?(A) The problems faced by leaders.(B) How leadership differs in small and large groups.(C) How social groups determine who will lead them.(D) The role of leaders in social groups.56. The passage mentions all of the following ways by which people can become leaders EXCEPT ___________.(A) recruitment(B) formal election process(C) specific leadership training(D) traditional cultural patterns57. In mentioning “natural leaders” in line 9, the author is making the point that __________.(A) few people qualify as “natural leaders”.(B) there is no proof that “natural leaders” exi st.(C) “natural leaders” are easily accepted by the members of a group.(D) “natural leaders” share a similar set of characteristics.58. The word “resolve” in line 27 is closest in meaning to _____________.(A) avoid repeating(B) talk about(C) avoid thinking about(D) find a solution for59. Answer the questions below the text by choosing A, B z C or D ・By almost any measure, there is a boom in Internet-based instruction. In justa few years, 34 percent of American universities have begun offering some form of distance learning (DL), and among the larger schools, it's closer to 90 percent. If you doubt the popularity of the trend, you probably haven11 heard of the University of Phoenix• It grants degrees entirely on the basis of online instruction• It enrolls 90000 students, a statistic used to support its claim to be the largest private university in the country. While the kinds of instruction offered in these programs will differ, DL usually signifies a course in which the instructors post syllabi (课程大纟冈), reading assignments, and schedules on websites, and students send in their assignments by e-mail. Generally speaking, face-to-face communication with an instructor is minimized or eliminated altogether. The attraction for students might at first seem obvious . Primarily, there 1 s the convenience promised by courses on the net ; you can do the work, as they say, in your pa j amas (睡衣)• But figures indicate that the reduced effort results in a reduced commitment to the course. While dropout rates for all freshmen mt American universities is around 20 percent z the rate for online students is 35 percent• Students themselves seem to understand the weaknesses inherent in the setup. In a survey conducted for E-Cornell, the DL division of Cornell University, less than a third of the respondents expected the quality of the online course to be as good as the classroom course.Clearly, from the schools 1perspective, there 1s a lot of money to be saved. Although some of the more ambitious programs require new investments in servers and networks to support collaborative software, most DL courses can run on existing or minimally upgraded (升级)systems. The more students who enroll in a course but don11 come to campus, the more the school saves on keeping the lights on in the classrooms, paying doorkeepers, and maintaining parking lots. And, while there1s evidence that instructors must work harder to run a DL course for a variety of reasons, they won11 be paid any more, and might well be paid less.41^ What is the most striking feature of the University of Phoenix?A.All its courses are offered online.B.Its online courses are of the best quality•C.It boasts the largest number of students on campus.D.Anyone taking its online courses is sure to get a degree.42、According to the passage, distance learning is basically characterizedby ______ .A. a considerable flexibility in its academic requirementsB.the great diversity of students1 academic backgroundsC. a minimum or total absence of face-to-face instructionD.the casual relationship between students and professors43、Many students take Internet-based courses mainly because they can __________ •A.earn their academic degrees with much less effortB.save a great deal on traveling and boarding expensesC.select courses from various colleges and universitiesD.work on the required courses whenever and wherever44、What accounts for the high dropout rates for online students?A.There is no strict control over the academic standards of the courses.B.The evaluation system used by online universities is inherently weak.C.There is no mechanism to ensure that they make the required effort.ck of classroom interaction reduces the effectiveness of instruction.45、According to the passage, universities showgreat enthusiasm for DLprogramsfor the purpose of ________ •A.building up their reputationB.cutting down on their expensesC.upgrading their teaching facilitiesD.providing convenience for studentsPart BRead the following text carefully and then translate the underlined segments into Chinese. June 8th, 2011, was World IPv6 Day—the first major deployment of InternetProtocol version 6. Hundreds of Internet service providers and Web companies tested IPv6 on their websites . This new numbering system for Internet addresses has been availablefor years . But very few companies have switched to it. 46 Yetthe old system could run out of addresses this year because of all the growth in online devices. Doug Szajda, a computer science professor at the University of Richmond in Virginia, explains.Doug Szajda says : n It1 s sort of like the post office of the Internet. It tells you how to get information from one computer to another. Currently, and since around 1980, the addressing system has been IP version 4. But the problem with that is that we 1 ve run out of addresses. So it1 s almost as if, when a new house is built, you can11 give it an address because you don11 have any more.nIPv4 was designed to handle just over four billion IP addresses • Doug Szajda says that seemed like more than enough. Doug Szajda says : n47 At the time that IP version 4 was designed、the designers were anticipating perhaps thousands of users of the Internet someday, and ceilainly thinking that four billion addresses were many more than we would ever need." Yet now, not just computers but smartphones, cars, televisions, game systems and plenty of other devices all connect to the Internet• Each uses a different IP address•The basic standards for IPv6 were first published in 1998 . 48 Doug Szajda says its most impoilain feature is the ability to provide what seems like an unlimited numbeT of IP addresses. Well z there is a limit—three hundred forty trillion trillion trillion in fact, or three hundred forty undecillion. That1s three hundred forty followed by thirty-six zeros. Experts say the challenge now is to get the world to use it. Mr. Szajda says that was the real purpose of last week1 s World IPv6 Day sponsored by the Internet Society. Doug Szajda says : 1149 It was less a worldwide test than a means of generating some incentive for vendors to realize we cant drag our feet anymore. This has to happen."50 The process of switching to IPv6 can be complex and costly, which could explain why so few companies have made the switch. CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, recently did a n opinion study• The group talked to more than four hundred information technology and business leaders in the United States . Only twenty-one percent said they have started doing work to upgrade their networks to the new system.Section IV Writing51> Directions:Your school has enough money to purchase either computers for students or books for the library. We write to preserve our family histories so our children and grandchildren can learn and appreciate their heritage. Nowadays computers and Internet connections become so popular in so many households, colleges, and businesses, people are e-mailing friends and relatives all the time or talking to them in writing in online chat rooms . It is cheaper than calling long distance, and a lot more convenient than waiting until Sunday for the telephone rates to drop• Students are e-mailing their professors to receive and discuss their classroom assignments and to submit them. They are e-mailing classmates to discuss and collaborate on homework• They are also sharing information about concerts and sports events, as well as jokes and their philosophies of life•Despite the growing importance of computers, however, there will always be a place and need for the personal letter. Charles Csuri has been a part of many modern art movements. He 1 s worked in Pop Art, Cubism, and Conceptual Art, but he made his mark as a pioneer in computer art. Even long before computers became popular, he was punching cards and feeding them into the big mainframe computer at Ohio State University. In the beginning, he had to work without a monitor, so he was virtually creating art in the dark. He even learned computer programming so he could experiment with this new tool. Through the computer, Csuri has been able to explore a new world of possibiliti巳s • For example, the computer enables him to sculpt in three dimensions. They will detect faulty electrical appliances, plugs or switches, isolate them so that they cannot harm anyone, and then warn you that they need repairing • They will detect fire and if you are out of the house, the computer will call the fire brigade.
BBC、VOA、The New York times、Discovery、C N N、National Geographic、NPR、CBS等。
接下来是dictation(听写)。
