Communicating with the old can be challenging, especially when considering the fact that their abilities are failing. So it is important to learn how to deal with communication with old people effectively(有效地).

First of all, you are supposed to respect(尊重) the old person’s thoughts, backgrounds and life experience. Do not correct their opinions even when you can’t reach any agreement. You should also respect their privacy(隐私) when they prefer to be left on their own. And when old people are talking, listen carefully. Let them finish and do not cut in because letting them express their thoughts and emotions is important.

Sometimes, the physical or mental(精神的) state of old people can stand in the way of expressing their needs. It’s more than just their physical needs, such as food, clothing, and so on for it is also important to understand their emotions. Do they seem lonely? Do they feel like needing company? When in their company, try to know if they would like to chat or be quiet. And when you feel they want to be quiet, do not try starting a conversation or keep asking them questions. Just be there, because spending time with them is as important as taking to them or cheering them up.

As communication with old people can be difficult, it is important to be always patient. When you are explaining something to them, you should remain patient when they ask you to repeat yourself. Try using gestures(手势) while you are talking with them, or write down what you want to say when it is necessary. Also you’d better use words and sentences that are simple.

Though it may be challenging, effective communication with old people can be very useful. Being able to speak and understand your loved ones, even in their late

Many people put off going to a doctor because of being scared. The fear of doctors is not unusual at all. People do not go to the doctor often for many reasons. Some people just do not like the idea of going to a doctor even for a checkup(检查). Other people do not want to hear what a doctor says about their condition or worry that their condition is worse than what it really is.

Having a fear of doctors has happened to many people. If you are one of them, you must think about the consequences(后果) of what could happen. When you finally decide to see a doctor, your health condition may get worse over time. This could cost you thousands of dollars in medical service. By then, your chance to recover(恢复) is pretty small. So it is necessary for you to see a doctor as early as possible.

You’d better take someone along with you. This can encourage you to go to a doctor. The fear of doctors happens to the best of us when we do not know what health problems we have. Once you have found out about your medical condition, you will not have any more worries.

If you go to a doctor in the beginning, the doctor will tell you what is wrong and your condition can be cured(治愈) in time with the right medical care. Thus, most conditions, if caught in time, can be turned around in just a few days. If you wait too long, then sometimes surgery(手术) needs to be performed. However, you can prevent it by seeing a doctor when your medical problems first come about. In a word, if you get over your fear of doctors, you will live a longer and healthier life.

We are all faced with challenges at work, at school or even at home. If we can’t avoid(避免) them, we will feel stressed. To deal with them, what we can do is to think positively, because positive thinking will help you find happiness and success in life. Being happy can fill you with light that will change not only your own life, but also the way you see the world. Therefore, it’s necessary for us to develop a positive thinking attitude and choose to be happy. Then how can we develop this very important and useful habit? Here are some useful tips that can help you.

Take care of yourself, because a healthy body makes for a healthy mind. Eating well, exercising regularly and getting enough rest will help you take on the difficulties you face every day.

There will always be good times and bad times in life. Letting yourself know all the happy times and the good things that have happened will help you deal with the challenges that come your way.

Expressing your love to your friends, your family members, or even your pets through physical contact(接触) can immediately make you feel better and can greatly help in developing a positive thinking attitude.

Don’t worry about something that may or may not happen in the future. We can never really predict what will happen in the coming days. The important thing is to live in the present moment and make full use of it.

Loneliness may bring negative thoughts. You can avoid being lonely by surrounding (包围) yourself with people who are positive and happy, as you’ll soon find their happiness and positive energy affect you as well.
