III Final Year Project Abstract An innovative smartphone application for children with diabetes was implemented in this project. This paper presents the development and implementation of this electronic medical assistant for self monitoring. The prototype smartphone device includes the following functions: z Personal Medical Record Information Provider z Insulin Injection Reminder z Children’s Diabetic Education z Emergency Contact z Real-time Glucose Meter Reading by Bluetooth and smart feedback of data. More detailed graphical displays of data could be provided by the mobile phone for controlling the insulin dose and modifying diet and exercise. The system was programmed in Visual basic. Net and has been evaluated in the tests.
