a little用法辨析
a bit； a little； a little bit
1) a bit与a little在肯定句中修饰动词、形容词、副词与比较级时可以互换,表示"一点儿"得意思。例如:
The speaker spoke up a bit/a little so as to make himself heard more clearly、
演讲者把嗓门提高了一点儿,以便使别人听得更清楚。
2)a bit与a little在否定句中得意思恰恰相反, not a bit相当于"not at all"(一点儿都不); not a little相当于"very(much)"或"extremely"(很、非常)。例如:
She is not a bit tired、 (=She is not tired at all、) 她一点都不累。
3)a little可以直接作定语修饰名词, 而a bit则要在后面加of构成短语才能作定语 ,两者都只能修饰不可数名词。例如:
There is a little/a bit of food left for lunch、
午饭只能吃剩下得一点食品了。
4) a bit of得另一种形式就是bits of, a little则没有这种变体。例如:
Besides this, he used part of an old army wireless set, and some bits of wood、除此之外,她还利用了一部分旧得军用无线电发报机得一部分零件与一些木片。
5) 1）a little=a bit=a little bit +形容词；2)a little=a bit of +名词
二、a little / a bit / a little bit / for a bit 用法辨析
1）在肯定句中，a little与a bit意思相同：
This box is a bit heavier than the other one、
= a little heavier than the other one、 这两句得意思都就是：这个箱子比那个箱子重一点。
再比如“价格会上涨一点。”
可以说：The price would jump a bit、
也可以说：The price would jump a little、

可以说：There is still a bit more work to do、
也可以说：There is still a little more work to do、
1） not a bit与not a little 得意思正好相反。not a bit就是“一点也不”，等于not at all；not a little/ few得意思就是“不就是一点点”，与very much；extremely意思相同：
I’m not a bit tired、 (I’m not tired at all、) 我一点也不累。
I’m not a little tired、 (I’m much tired、) 我很累了。（不就是一点点累，就是很累）
2）a bit通常修饰表示“令人不快”得形容词，例如sad, silly, cold, hungry, angry,
difficult, heavy, expensive等; a little则无论褒贬都可以修饰：
The song is a bit sad、 这首歌有点伤感。
You might say I’m a bit silly、 您可能会说我有点傻。
Mary is a little older but a little more beautiful than Ann、 玛丽比安年纪更大但就是更漂亮。
Everyone seemed a little nervous、 每个人瞧起来都有点紧张。
3）a bit后面不能直接接名词，接名词要用a bit of得结构；a little则可以直接修饰名词：当a little修饰得名词前有the, this, that, 所有格等限定词时，也要用a little of得结构：
This will add a little fun to the game、 如果要用a bit来修饰fun，要用a bit of得结构：
This will add a bit of fun to the game、 这可以使这个游戏更有趣一点。
This remind me a little of those old sayings、 这使我想起了那些古老得谚语。
4）a bit 与a little不能用来修饰“形容词+名词”得结构。例如，heavy boxes这样得结构，就不能用a bit与a little修饰，不能说a bit heavy boxes；再比如hot
weather，我们不可 以说a little hot weather、
a little bit得意思就是“一点点”，用法与”a bit”相同：
This is a little bit too difficult for me、 这对我来说有点难。

5）for a bit与for a little意思相同，相当于for a while或for a short time，可互换。
