Up is a 2009 American computer-animated comedy-drama adventure film
produced by Pixar Animation Studios and directed by Pete Docter. The film
centers on an elderly widower named Carl Fredricksen and an earnest young
boy named Russell, who encounter fantastic adventures on their journey to
South America to fulfill a lifelong dream.
The film opens with a young Carl Fredricksen, who idolizes famed
explorer Charles F. Muntz. Carl meets a spirited girl named Ellie, who shares
his passion for exploration. They marry and live happily in their dream home,
but life takes a toll on them, and Ellie passes away, leaving Carl deeply
depressed and isolated.
Years later, Carl is faced with the daunting prospect of moving into a
retirement home. He develops a plan to use helium balloons to lift his house

Carl Fredricksen, a shy and quiet boy, meets an energetic and outgoing tomboy named
Ellie, discovering they share the same interest in exploration as their hero, the famed
explorer Charles F. Muntz. Ellie tells Carl of her desire to move her clubhouse to Paradise Falls
