Gender Discrimination from Virgin Complex

at the National Archives in London, which required 'virginity testing' be

taken by migrant women from the Indian subcontinent attempting to enter

Britain in the 1970s. The similar thing happened again in KwaZulu Natal; groups

of Zulu have carried out virginity testing campaigns since the mid-1990s, both

in the form of large movements including celebrations for several days with the

Zulu King at the centre, and in the form of smaller-scale local initiatives, where

girls are tested under simple and everyday circumstances. Men through the

entire world are not special from Chinese men. Most of them have virginity

complex. Although attitudes have changed considerably since the opening

reforms, many men still carry the attitude that women should at least act and

appear pure. According to a recent survey by the All China Women's Federation,

when asked to rank a series of values in order of importance, 80% of women in

rural areas listed chastity as more important than being alive. Because they are

women, they have to restrain themselves. Because they are women, they have

to suffer virginity test. Because they are women, they have to stratify men's

vanity.

On the contrary, people hold more open attitude towards men's virginity or

even opposite attitudes. Adult male virgins have a more difficult time being

accepted than adult female virgins. To be a man means to have a myriad of

sexual relationships. If a male reveals to his friends that he is an adult virgin, he

is seen as being effeminate, a little boy, or a sexually repressed ogre.Some

people often deride an adult male virgin, believing that something has to be

seriously wrong with him. Think of the movie, THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, in

which the main character is derided because he is a virgin over the "normally

accepted " age range. Adult male virgins are often seen as "losers " in modern

society. Sometimes magazine articles suggested that he "should get laid " to

"get rid of his predicament ". Adult male virgins are sometimes called the

pejorative word. However, for women, if people know them aren't virgin any

more, people will despise them and sometimes associate them with prostitutes.

The development of the times, and there is no absolutely equality between

men and women but should also be fair, men have a virgin complex several

thousand years of feudal tradition, to change habits is not reactive.Of course,

cannot not change, indeed outdated feudal ethical code, but not over-react to

the other extreme. Face the reality, women should be sober, not feeling too old

for a virgin, do not believe the lies of men, in their own sense of the words and

deeds. The most important is that all women should realize there is sexism in

virginity complex. Then all women can unite together and fight for their rights.
