中国机读目录格式说明【记录头标】记录头标是按照ISO 2709的规定设立的。

它包括处理记录时可能需要的有关记录的一般性信息。

整个头标区固定为24个字符长，由固定长数据元素组成，这些数据元素通过字符位置来标识。

1966年，美国国会图书馆开始进行“机读目录试验计划，同年11月向16个成员馆发行试验性机读目录磁带――MARC1格式。

1968年，美国国会图书馆研制出MARC2格式，它是目前使用得各种机读目录格式的母本。

1971年，美国国家标准局将LCMARC确定为美国国家标准，LCMARC从此被称为USMARC 格式。

1977年，国际图联主持制定了《国际机读目录格式》（UNIMARC）1987年，中国国家图书馆（即北图）开始进行中国机读目录的开发工作。

1991年，中国机读目录格式――CNMARC(China MARC Format)正式发行。

1996年，CNMARC作为文化行业标准开始实施。

主要基本定义：一．机读目录：即机器可读目录(MARC＝Machine－Readable Catalog)，是计算机编目的产物。

它是以代码形式和特定格式记录在计算机存贮载体上，能够被计算机识别并编辑输出书目信息的目录形式。

二．计算机编目：即利用计算机根据文献编目规则编制机读目录的过程。

三．机读目录的组成：机读目录由以下四部分组成：记录头标地址目次区数据字段区记录结束符四．字段：由字段标识符标识的被定义的特定字符串，可包含一个或多个子字段。

五．字段标识符：用于标记字段的一组三位数字符号，也称字段号。

六．字段指示符：与变长字段联用的字符(数字或字母)，为字段内容、记录中该字段与其他字段的相互关系、或某些数据处理时所需的操作提供附加信息。

七．子字段：字段内所定义的数据单位。

八．子字段标识符：由两个字符组成的代码，用以标识可变长字段中的不同子字段。

第一个字符为ISO 2709中规定的专用符号(即@)，第二个字符为字母或数字。
