Introduction

Guangxi University is a university located in Nanning, Guangxi, China. While some

other students complain about the terrible food that school dining hall provide, the

students in GXU enjoy the abundant cuisine resource here. We have not only 9 dining halls

but also the Dog Hole Street and Nongyuan Road providing various and delicious and

affordable food. Even the alien people come to GXU for a journey to cuisine.

In the West campus, there are the West Dining Hall, Chunhua Dining Hall, Qiushi

Dining Hall, Cui Dining Hall, Huiwei Muslim Dining Hall, the South Dining Hall and the Dog

Hole Steert. In the East campus, the East Dining Hall, the Bihu Dining Hall and the Water

Tower Dining Hall distribute.

In this book, four students use photos and words to describe the interesting journey

where their tongues experience.

The West

Dining Hall The west dining hall is one of the dining hall in Guang Xi University. It

locates at the west side of the college. It is one of the most popular dining

hall in the college. Many students choose have lunch and dinner in the

west dining hall.

The west dining hall is a two-floor building. On the first floor,

the

dining hall provides common and cheap food. The first floor dining hall is

crowded and a bit dirty.

So, if you want to have you meal in the west dining hall, you can

choose to have a meal on the first floor or the second floor.

If you choose to have a meal on the first floor, you don’t need to pay

too much money. Because the meal on the first floor is cheap and

common. For example, a dish of potato only cost 1.5 RMB on the first floor

dining hall. It contain 30 pieces of potato chips. And each potato chip is 5

CM long.

The meal on the first floor can be seen everywhere in daily life. For

example, it has pork, beef, some kind of vegetable, and some strange

meal.

Spicy food is one of the most popular food on the first floor of the

west dining hall. For example, there is a kind of spicy food named Mapo

Tofu. It contain lots of protein. But spicy food is harmful for human body.

Eating too much spicy food is a kind of way to kill yourself.

If you don’t want to spend too much money having meal in the

west dining hall, you can choose to have a simple meal on the first floor of

the west dining hall. Maybe you will be disappointed about the simple food. But it is cheap and can be served or cooked very fast if you are in a

hurry.

dining hall. If you want to have a good and delicious meal in the west dining hall

of GXU, we recommend that you can have a wonderful meal on the 2nd

floor. Although having meal on second floor will cost more money than that

on first floor, you will get better meal.

In recent time, our group members decide to do a research about the

second floor of the west dining hall.

It can be seen from the picture, the environment of the second floor of

the west dining hall is pretty good. It

looks

like a clean restaurant. It

provides high level service for the students who want to enjoy a high level

meal.

dining hall. We bought some dishes for our research. For example, we bought a dish

of Sweet and sour pork ribs. To our surprise, it tasted terrible. And we had to

pay 23 RMB for it, that is awful! Because the pork ribs had too much bones

than meat, so we paid for a unlucky dish. We want to tell everyone that

please don’t waste your money on a dish of Sweet and sour pork ribs.

Because it tasted too terrible to eat it down. Please remember, don’t buy

Sweet and sour pork ribs, if you like spicy food.

Having a bowl of soup when you are thirsty is a good idea. The second

floor of the west dining hall provides delicious soup. For example, we bought

a big bowl of soup for our research. At first, we bought a big bowl of Old

Chicken Soup. Chicken soup has some good functions, so it helps reduce the

duration of the cold but also it helps clear the mucus. If you feel tired, you

can order a bowl of chicken soup to recover yourself. The price of a bowl of chicken soup will cost you 3 RMB if

you want a bowl of it.

There are two kinds of chicken soup. One is called Old

Chicken Soup; another is called Common Chicken Soup.

So what is the difference between the two kind of

chicken soup? We interviewed a waiter to find out the answer.

The waiter told us that the Old Chicken Soup can provide blood

sugar strongly, but it will hurt your body if your blood level is so

high. The Common Chicken Soup won’t hurt your body, because

《The Wind in the Willow》 是我娃的最爱，我们很多年以前读过。到现在我娃都把划船叫做“simply messing about in boats."（Water Rat说的话）。

我教的一个班的孩子，在我的推荐下，选择读这本书，complete

& unabridged version - 未删节，未简化，原汁原味的原版。

是个挑战，对孩子们，对我，都是挑战。

第一，The Wind in the Willow 是美国资优孩子（gifted）4～5年级的阅读书目，是一般孩子7～8年级的阅读书目，因为语言难度很大（如果他们的阅读书目包括经典的话，因为很多公校以现代作品为主，比如纽奖的东西，不指定阅读经典）；第二，The Wind in the

Willow 不能按一般精读的方法 ---- 词汇，阅读理解问答，问题讨论，这样就“宰割”了这本书。这是一本可以读一辈子的书，第一遍需要孩子纯体验。

所以我决定，孩子不一定需要理解每一句话，但还是要感受这部不朽作品语言的美。

比如开篇段落里的这句话：First with brooms, then with

dusters; then on ladders and steps and chairs，我们读成这样：
