情态动词will/can否定式在外贸函电中的译法研究摘要:情态动词否定式在外贸函电中是常见的言语形式,其中will not 和may not最为常见。

2. will否定式译法研究(1)表示“不愿做”will not 出现在第一人称之后表示主观意愿译为“不愿做某事”。
例1.i would not normally agree but i’ll make and exception in this case.我方通常不愿接受,但我方同意给贵方特例。
例2.owing to the quality problems, we will not accept your goods. hereby cancel the order.由于质量问题,我方不愿接受贵方的供货,特此取消订单。
例1中的 would not 放在第一人称之后,表示客观上主体的主观意愿,“不愿接受”。
同样,例2中,will not 放在了第一人称“we”之后,表示主观上“我方不愿接受贵方供货”的意愿。

本文以翻译中欠额和超额现象作为切入点,分析二者存在的合理性和必然性,并结合信息冗余度概念探讨英语函电中应用欠额和缺额策略,同时结合关联理论解释策略合理性,以期提高英语函电翻译的准确率。
【关键词】欠额翻译超额翻译冗余度关联理论一、前言当前中国国内生产总值中国际贸易所占比例很高,但是国际贸易过程复杂,专业性强,涉及外贸流程及各种业务的处理,需要精准的外语函电翻译,特别是英语函电翻译。
但由于函电本身所具有正式性、准确性、礼貌性、具体性等特点且与法律语言联系密切,因而准确理解、翻译并能撰写外贸函电包括往来信函,商务合同,单证等绝非易事。
本文拟对外贸函电中出现的欠额和超额翻译进行分析,并就其出现的原因和背景进行合理解读,并对此提出相应的翻译策略,有助于拓展外贸函电领域的研究,提高外贸从业者的业务水平,提高我国与其它国家的贸易规模,促进经济发展。
二、关于欠额翻译和超额翻译这两个概念是彼得·纽马克在“翻译理论和翻译技巧”中提出的,认为翻译意义走失是多方面的,而其中最主要是由于“超额翻译(过于细化)”和“欠额翻译(过于泛化)”造成的。
俄国翻译理论家拉舍夫(1998)认为“语言中介”是掌握两种语言的人为支持使用不同语言的人在言语交际而从事的活动,它是双语交际的中心环节。
而语言中介有两种极端的表现:一种是超额翻译,另一种是欠额翻译。
超额翻译是指对所译材料进行补充加工,进行超出翻译范围的改造。
而欠额翻译则是某些方面不符合语言规范的语言中介类型,是缩写和节译。
这两个概念提出后受到不少学者的关注,特别是国内学者给予了很高的重视,如岳峰、徐珺等将欠额翻译和超额翻译视为译者的“过”和“失”,纷纷就此语言现象分析其出现的原因,并提出规避的策略和技巧如音译、直译、意译、直译加注、文化补偿、规划等手段力求找到原文和译文“最大等值”。
