so … that …“那么(表程度)、如此……以至于……”，引导结果状语从句。
so 后跟形容词/副词，so … that …引导的复合句可转换成简单句。
⑴当that从句是否定结构，that从句的主语与主句的主语相同时，可用too … to …替换。
不相同时，可用too … for sb. to do…替换。
The boy is so young that he can’t go to school. = The boy is too young to go to school. 这个男孩太小了，不能上学。
The suit was so expensive that I could not afford it. = The suit was too expensive for me to afford. 这衣服太贵，我买不起。
⑵当that从句是肯定结构，that从句的主语与主句的不相同时，可用…enough for sb. to do …替换。

运用“By the time…,sb had already done….”句型谈论发生在身边的令人尴尬或难忘的事，学习和巩固过去完成时态。
本单元的核心语言项目是“Narrate past events”，通过一系列的听说读写的训练，加深学生对过去完成时态的理解，在学习和运用过去完成时态的过程中，进一步掌握动词的过去式和过去分词的变化规则，区别现在完成时及过去完成时的用法，最终达到将目标语言运用到真实的生活语境的目的，让学生在用中学，在学中用.一、教学目标1. 语言知识目标：1) 能掌握以下单词及短语：unexpected, by the time, backpack, oversleep, ring, give …a lift, 2）掌握By the time I got outside, the bus had already left.When I got to school, I realized I had left my backpack at home.3) 掌握过去完成时时态，结构及用法。

(标题）【解析1】be full of = be filled with充满，装满【解析2】unexpected adj. 出乎意料的；始料不及的the unexpected “意外的事情”“出乎意料的事”。
the ＋adj.表示一类人或事物。
英语中，有些形容词与定冠词the连用，表示一类人或事物，在句子中起名词的作用。

(1b)【解析】by the time 在……以前，指从过去的某一点到从句所示的时间为止，常引导表示过去的时间状语从句，主句常用过去完成时，即had+动词过去分词。

【拓展】by now 表示“到现在为止”，通常与现在完成时连用。
By now I have collected 200 dolls. 到现在为止，我已收集了二百个布娃娃。

2.教材分析：本单元的主要话题是难以预料的事情（Unexpected events），单元语法为过去完成时态及复习由when, before, as, by the time引导的时间状语从句表达过去发生的事情，功能为能讲述过去发生的事情（Narrate past events）。
本节课为第十二单元第二课时阅读课，阅读语篇是一篇两段式按时间顺序叙述的记叙文，讲述了作者从两件意想不到的突发事件中转危为安的两个小故事。
3a要求学生快速阅读，掌握文章大意，锻炼学生通过快速阅读提取关键信息的能力；3c要求学生利用所给信息复述事件内容，既检测学生对文章大意的掌握，又培养学生的语言组织和表达能力。
到本节课结束，学生应该会使用包括过去完成时态在内的适当的时态及when, before, as, by the time引导的时间状语从句复述文章内容，同时通过作者的经历学会乐观面对生活。
3.学情分析本次授课班级为九年级七班，本班学生英语基础为中等水平，学生的单词掌握量较高，思维活跃，积极主动，但缺乏语法和句法概念，因此在造句和连句成篇上仍存在一定的困难。
学生已经学习过一般过去时态和现在完成时态，因此对过去完成时态的接受能力较强，但同时在实际运用中也易发生时态混淆的现象，本节课对课文的整体剖析有利于学生对时态作进一步的区分和运用。
