And in English they formed the simple past tense. The simple past tense is one of the most common tenses in English. We use the simple past to refer to an action in the past that is finished. For example, I lived in Paris for 1 year. Sometimes the speaker may not actually mention the specific time, but they do have one specific time in mind.
