婚前协议prenuptial agreement
A prenuptial agreement or premarital agreement, commonly abbreviated to prenup or prenupt, is a contract entered into prior to marriage, civil union or any other agreement prior to the main agreement by the people intending to marry or contract with each other.
婚前协议（prenuptial agreement），通常缩写为prenup或prenupt，指有意成婚或者达成合作的人在结婚、民事结合（即同性结婚）或者正式注册之前签署的一份协议。
The content of a prenuptial agreement can vary widely, but commonly includes provisions for division of property and spousal support in the event of divorce or breakup of marriage. They may also include terms for the forfeiture of assets as a result of divorce on the grounds of adultery, further conditions of guardianship may be included as well.
婚前协议的内容可能不尽相同，但是普遍都包括离婚或婚姻破裂时财产分配以及配偶抚养方
面的条款。有时可能还会包括因通奸而导致离婚时财产没收以及对于监护权的进一步要求等
条款。
There are two types of prenuptial agreements: marriage contract for people who are married or about to be married, and cohabitation agreement for unmarried couples. A variation for people
who are already married is a postnuptial agreement, also called a postmarital agreement.
婚前协议分为两种：已婚夫妇或将婚夫妇签署的婚姻协议，以及未结婚伴侣签署的同居协议。已婚夫妇签署的协议也叫做postnuptial agreement或者postmarital agreement。
共同财产mutual property
《婚姻法》最新司法解释的颁布可谓一石激起千层浪，其中有关房产分割的处理更被指会推高离婚率。结婚前看有没有房，离婚时吵房子归谁，究竟是感情的错，还是房价的错？这原本
就是一个伪命题，因为把婚姻绑架在房子上本身就是一种悲哀。

A controversial section of the draft suggests that once a marriage ends in divorce the pre-marital property is to be recognized as the buyer's personal assets, instead of a couple's common wealth.
征求意见稿中一个条款颇具争议，该条款指出，离婚时婚前房产将被认定为购买者的个人财产，而不是夫妻共同财产。
我们再来看看原来是如何规定的：
The previous clause in the law dictated that a house, which is traditionally bought by the bridegroom before the marriage, is regarded as the couple's mutual property and appraised for
its value on divorce.
（《婚姻法》）之前的条款规定，传统上由男方在婚前购买的房产在离婚时被认定为夫妻的共同财产，并接受估价。
上文中的common wealth和mutual property都是指夫妻的“共同财产”，是与personal assets （个人财产）和pre-marital property（婚前财产）相对而言的。为防止婚后因经济等问题产生纠纷，如今更多年轻人选择签订prenuptial agreement/prenup（婚前协议），或者进行
pre-marital property notarization（婚前财产公证）。
虽然人们不在受制于旧时的arranged marriage（包办婚姻），但仍有不少人对婚姻缺乏安全感，一些年轻人由于担心婚后出现问题，在婚前长期进行companionate marriage（试婚，同居），反而增加了日后的风险，而另一些人则欣然接受flash marriage（闪婚）。夫妻在婚后接受marital counseling（婚姻咨询）对两人的关系很有好处。
假结婚bogus marriage
加拿大移民部长近日表示投资移民加拿大个人资产及直接投资金额要求将会倍增，个人资产
从80万增至160万，直接投资金额从40万增至80万。此外，加拿大将严厉打击假结婚移民申请。去年加拿大驻港使馆接获的4000多宗家庭团聚申请中，逾半因假结婚被拒，这些申请绝大部分是居于华南的中国申请人。

在上面的报道中，bogus marriage就是为了移民外国而办理的“假结婚”，bogus的意思是
“假的，伪造的”，请看例子：The reporter could not get to see the minister, so she made up a completely bogus interview with him.（记者见不到那位部长，于是她虚构了一篇对他的采访。）
假结婚行为是immigration fraud（入境移民诈骗）的一种手段。提供假结婚移民帮助的公司是bogus company（皮包公司），他们所伪造的文件就是bogus documents或forged documents。
