Abstract.Modelscanbeusedinmanystagesofmanydifferentpro-cesses,butinsoftwareengineering,theultimatepurposeofmodellingisoftencodegeneration.Whilecodecanbegeneratedfromanymodel,weproposetouseanintermediatemodelthatistailoredtocodegenerationinstead.Inordertobeabletoeasilysupportdifferenttargetlanguages,thismodelshouldbegeneralenough;inordertosupportthewholepro-cess,themodelhastocontainbehaviouralaswellasstructuralaspects.Thispaperintroducessuchamodelandtheideasbehindit.Whenthemodelistocoverseverallanguages,differencesoccuralsointheavailablelibraryfunctions.Furthermore,theinputlanguages(e.g.SDL)maycontainhigh-levelconceptssuchassignalroutingthatarenoteasilymappedintosimpleinstructions.Weproposearuntimelibrarytoaddressbothchallenges.
