along的基本圖像及意義

Along 的基本意義就是沿著如線般細長延伸的東西作移動。
across 的基本圖像及意義
1. A little girl is walking across the street.
(一個小女孩正要穿越馬路。)
2. We’re going to build a bridge across the river.
(我們準備在這條河上造一座橋。)
Across基本上用來表示橫越道路、河川、平原、海等平面的動作。Across一字是從 a + cross 「十字」而來，所以把它想成「交叉成十字」就很容易了解了。
在例句二中也可使用 over（build a bridge over the river），但over有「越過上方前往對面」的意思。我們可從例圖中渡橋方式的差異看出兩者的不同。
另外，across除了表示橫越平面的狀態外，也有「在……對面」的意思。
The Tanakas live just across the street.
（田中一家人就住在對街。）
through的基本圖像及意義
1.The train went through Seikan Tunnel.
(火車穿過青函隧道。) 2. I saw her through the window.
(我透過玻璃窗看到了她。)
Through基本上表示「穿越立體狀的物體」的動作。
Through也可用來表示在時間方面從頭到尾的狀態，有「在……整個期間內」的意思。
例 It rained hard all through the night.
（大雨狂下了一整個晚上。）
