2. 宾语从句中的虚拟:wish 和特殊动词

表示与事实相反的愿望。其表达形式一般是将从句的谓语动词退后一个时态。例如:

1)与现在事实相反 : wish + (that)+did(were)

2)与过去事实相反 : wish + (that)+had done

Eg: I wish I had been to the concert last night.

I wish you had written to him.

3)与将来事实相反 : wish + would/could/might+do

3.句型:It is/was suggested(requested, required, ordered, etc) that +主语+(should)do

句型:suggestion, proposal, idea, plan, order, advice , decision等名词后面的表语从句、同位语从句中要用虚拟语气,即(should)+动词原形。

虚拟语气复习2:

4.Would rather 和would prefer后宾语从句用虚拟:

2)表示现在或将来要做的事,用过去式:

Eg: I would rather you told me the truth.

3)表示过去的动作,用过去完成时。可与wish换用

Eg: He would rather his father had been at his party last night.

5.状语从句中的虚拟:

as if/as though: He talks as if he knew everything. 与现在事实相反

He talks as if he had known John since boyhood.与过去事实相反even if/even though: even if he were wrong, you should not treat him like that.事实没有错in case/for fear that: He took the raincoat in case that he should be caught in the rain.

6.表语从句中的虚拟:

As if/as though: 常用连系动词:look, seem, taste, smell, sound

It seems as if he has no worries.表示没有烦恼,接近事实。

It seems as if he had no worries.表示仿佛没有烦恼,其实有很多。

Eg: It looks as if it is going to rain.

当表语从句中是事实或接近事实时,用一般语气;

8.比较if only与only if

If only 表示“但愿”“要是…就好了”,用虚拟:

Eg: If only I had a car, I could have get out of this place.现在

Only if:只有当…

But he became inspired when he tho ught about helping ordinary people exposed to cholera. This was the deadly dise ase of its day. Neither its cause nor its cure was understood. So many thousand s of terrified people died every time there was an outbreak. John Snow wanted t o face the challenge and solve this problem. He knew that cholera would never b e controlled until its cause was found. He became interested in two theories that possibly explained how cholera ki lled people. The first suggested that cholera multiplied in the air. A cloud of dangerous gas floated around until it found its victims. The second suggested that people absorbed this disease into their bodies with their meals. From the stomach the disease quickly attacked the body and soon the affected person die d. John Snow suspected that the second theory was correct but he needed eviden ce. So when another outbreak hit London in 1854, he was ready to begin his enqu iry.
