Sampling guidelines for JFSL and JTS (ST 2002)1. Review the sample received and check the BOM of the sample.2. Identify the plastic parts (e.g. PE, PEVA, EVA, PVC or others).3. Assign corresponding tests with reference to the below table.4. Breakdown the sample per color per material5. Description in breakdown list should follow the format of :(Color) (Material) (Plastic Material e.g. PP) (w/) (Color) (Coating/ Embroidery/ thread/ Printing) (Location) e.g. B lack F abric (B ody)e.g. W hite P lastic (A crylic) (B utton)e.g. R ed F abric w/ B rown C oating (F ace)e.g. B lue F abric w/ D k. B rown E mbroiderye.g. Black Fabric w/ Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple Printing (Dress) – Show Multi-Colour when the number of colours is > 3 , i.e. the correct description is “B lack F abric w/ M ulti-C olour P rinting (Dress)”e.g. G olden M etal (Screw)e.g. L aminated (PP) W hite P aper (P uzzle) (Lamination is also a kind of plastic, thus always ask for Laminated material from client)Align the sample description in each result section so that report can be easily followed.e.g. R ed F abric w/ B rown C oating (F ace)In the above example, if the brown coating represents eye ball on face, show exactly the wording in Coating section, do not present “Brown Coating (Eye Ball) [Non-PVC]”, just present “Brown Coating (Face) [Non-PVC]”e.g. “B lack F abric w/ M ulti-C olour C oating (Dress)”In this case, we can accept the following descriptions in case of multi-colouring, although red, yellow, orange and purple color could not be found in the breakdown list, it can be easily located in the “Dress” part.1. Red Coating (Dress) [Non-PVC]2. Yellow Coating (Dress) [Non-PVC]3. Orange Coating (Dress) [Non-PVC]4. Purple Coating (Dress) [Non-PVC]Do not present it like:1. Red Coating (Ribbon) [Non-PVC]2. Yellow Coating (Bird) [Non-PVC]3. Orange Coating (Flower) [Non-PVC]4. Purple Coating (House) [Non-PVC]Because it is not clear that where the ribbon, bird, flower and house are located. If it is a PVC coating, follow the format below:e.g. B rown PVC C oating (F ace)Remark:# = No need to test when the test portion is < 10 mg on the received sample, record the weight on the data sheet for reporting. * = No need to test when the test portion is found insufficient on 10 single samples, record it in the data sheet for reporting. + = Japan Law 112 Formaldehyde can be assigned.TestJFSL JTS Accessible materialsTests requiredColoring matters √ √ All materials (metal, plastic, textile, wood, paper, ink etc.) Color migrationPolyethylene√*√PE, EVA, PEVAPotassium permanganate Evaporation residue Heavy metal as Lead Arsenious acidPolyvinyl chloride BaseMaterial (or Acetylcellulose for JTS)√*√PVC (or Acetycellulose material for JTS)Potassium permanganate Evaporation residue Heavy metal as Lead Arsenious acid CadmiumRubber-made toys (excluding rubber pacifiers) √Decal, folded paper (not include sticker, bookpages), rubber (excluding rubber pacifiers)Heavy metal as Lead Arsenious acidCopy Pictures/ Decals √ Copy Pictures/ Decals Heavy metal as Lead Arsenious acidFolding Paper/ Origami Paper √ Folding Paper/ Origami Paper (not include sticker, book pages) Heavy metal as Lead Arsenious acidPVC coating √* √ Coating (PVC material) Potassium permanganate Evaporation residue Heavy metal (EN)Paint coating√#√# Coating Heavy metal (EN) (3E or 8E) Textile products used for toys +√ Textile Free formaldehyde(must provide age grade, < 24 months or not)Soap bubble solution√Bubble solutionSurface active agent Fluorescent brightenerHeavy metal as Lead (must provide volume of solution)Soluble Heavy Metals contents for ink√#Graphical instruments e.g. Pencils, ball pens, markers, crayons, pastels, water colors, chalks Heavy metal (EN) (8E)Phthalate in Polyvinyl chloride √ √ PVCPhthalate (2P or 3P/ 6P) Rubber Pacifiers√ √Teether, pacifiersTotal Cadmium Total LeadLeachable PhenolLeachable Formaldehyde Leachable ZincHeavy metal as Lead Evaporation residueMetals used for toy√ √Removable metals that can pass though small part cylinderHeavy metal (EN) (Lead only)Example 1.Accessible material of sample include fabric, thread and coating only.As there is no plastic material, only color migration and coating (on sewing label) are required for testing for JFSL. For JTS, testing of formaldehyde is also required (except for one client, Sanrio). The breakdown consists of 3 groups (see below). Tests include color migration x3 and coating x1. Note:1. Present the description in the following format: (Color) (Material) (Plastic Material) w/ (Color) (Material) (Location)2. As the thread/ embroidery, coating would not be separated for testing, it will be tested with fabric under normal circumstances (except for testing coating, the coating will be scraped off for testing individually).3. Identify the location with reference to the description. (eg. Face, Body, Tail)1. Brown Fabric w/ Black and White Embroidery (Face, Body, Tail)4. Align the sample description in the breakdown list of testing coating:i.e. White Coating (Sewn-In Label)however, the coating on the sewn-in label is not enough for testing (< 10 mg), record the sample weight, e.g. 1 mgWhite Coating (Sewn-In Label): 0.001 gExample 2.Accessible materials: Plastic / Metal / Coating (Note: the sticker is not considered as paper category) Check the plastic material from the BOM (any PVC? any PE?)The coating on sticker is not accessible as it is totally laminated, check for the laminated material. Thus, only test the red coating on the button. There is metal found in sample but no metal test is needed as the metal screw cannot be dissembled without the aid of tools. In short, only color migration (x5) and coating (x1) are reported.Align the sample description in the breakdown list of “coating”:1. Red Coating (Button)DO NOT present: Red Coating (Words) XRed Coating (Logo) XExample 3.There are totally 6 styles of sticks, identify it by group A to F.The breakdown list for this set of sample isA)1. (see highlighted)And there are 3 groups of coating tests: (Present it in the following way in report)1. Silvery Coating (Stick) [A] [F] [Non-PVC]2. Multi-Colour Coating (Stick) [B] [Non-PVC]3.
