浅谈高职外贸英语函电学习中存在的问题和建议

摘要:本文从高职商务英语专业学生及外贸英语函电课程的特点出发,浅谈高职学生在外贸英语函电学习中较常面临的问题,结合日常的教学实践,给出相关的建议旨在进一步改进外贸英语函电的教学,帮助学生更好地学习本课程。

外贸函电作为国际商务往来经常使用的联系方式,是开展对外经济贸易业务和有关商务活动的重要工具。正确地掌握外贸函电的基本知识,并能熟练地加以运用,是从事外贸工作必须具备的专业技能。作为高职商务英语专业的主要专业课程,外贸英语函电一直受到教师和学生的重视,但是笔者在日常教学中发现高职学生由于自身英语基础较薄弱,以及业务知识不扎实等原因,在学习中常常不得要领,本文将从学生英语能力和业务知识两个方面浅谈本课程学习中学生常常面临的问题。
1.学生在外贸业务中熟练运用英语的能力有待提高
高职商务英语专业的学生,虽为英语专业但英语基础与本科学生还是存在一定差距,在外贸英语函电的学习中学生要将英语语言知识和国际贸易实务专业知识有机地结合起来,因此很多外贸专业术语要熟练用英文表达,很多句式结构要记,以《新编外贸英语函电与实训》教材为例,第三单元task3 insurance中,對外贸易的运输保险是指被保险人( the insured )(出口人或进口人)对一批或若干批货物向保险人(insurer/underwriter/insurance company )按一定金额 (即保险金额 insurance amount)投保(take out cover/cover/insure )一定的险别(coverage),并交纳保险费(insurance premium );保险人承保后,如果所保货物在运输途中发生约定范围内的损失(loss) ,应按照它所出具的保险单(Insurance Policy)的规定给予被保险人经济上的补偿(compensation)。Task4 payment中,Sight L/C&Usance/Time/Term

的规则和注意事项

[摘要】外贸英语函电的撰写在格式上要求严格,且有英式和美式的差别。在撰写函电的各部分时,必 须掌握相应的规则和注意事项。外贸英语函电的质量好坏直接影响到收信人对写信人的第一印象,甚至影响 到生意是否成功。对其进行研究,对保证双方交流的顺畅和成功,树立企业形象,增加经济效益,具有重要的 现实意义。 [关键词]外贸;英语函电;写作规则 [中图分类号]F740.4 [文献标识码]B [文章编号]1002—2880(2008)07—0074—02
一、引言 随着经济全球化进程的进一步加快和我国对外贸易 的不断扩大,我国的对外贸易活动日益频繁。作为国际 贸易的重要沟通手段,外贸英语函电在对外贸易中的地 位越来越重要。外贸英语函电指在国际贸易交往中应用 的信函、传真和电子邮件,是国际贸易买卖双方用于联系 业务、沟通商情、咨询答复的主要途径和通讯手段。它反 映了买卖双方所处的不同的文化、社会背景,代表了双方 各自的利益。外贸英语函电的撰写看似简单,实则不易。 它不同于私人信函,具有更为正式的格式特点和要求,且 有英式和美式的差别。外贸英语函电的质量好坏直接影 响到收信人对写信人的第一印象,甚至影响到生意是否 成功。一般而言,一份函电由信头、日期、封内地址、称呼、 正文、结尾敬语、签名七部分构成。在撰写函电的各部分 时,必须掌握相应的规则和注意事项。 二、外贸英语函电写作的规则和注意事项 1.信头 信头是外贸函电中的重要部分。信头往往需经企业 精心设计,印在信纸的最上方,并要独树一帜 展现和维 护公司形象,使企业形象由内到外体现出标准化、一致 性。同时也提高了效率,方便对方回复。因此,信头的信 息要全面、准确,应包括公司名址、电话号、传真号、邮编 和电邮地址等内容。例如: //arb/n Tianyilmtm ̄&凸 Co.,Ltd. 108 Xi Da Zhi Avenue,Harbin 150001,China Tel: (0451)53669011 Fax:(0451)53669012 2.日期 日期应距离信头3~6行。在商务信函中,日期至关 重要,因为交易双方需参照信函上的日期来核查某日的 交易、订单或投诉。在书写日期时,应注意: (1)日期的书写应尽量避免写成2—3—08或2/3/08, 一74一 因为这样会造成误解。应该用具体月份标明,例如:用美 式写法可按月、日、年的顺序写成March 2,2008或February 3,2008,用英式写法可按日、月、年的顺序写为2 March, 2008或3 February,2008,月份不能缩写。 (2)日期栏的位置。当信函采用平头式时,日期应与 封内地址对齐,从信纸的左侧开始写。 当信函采用混合式(改良式)时,日期应从信纸的中 线开始往右写。如信头不是印制的,而是打在信纸的右 侧,日期栏应位于信头的正下方,与信头对齐。如到一家 新公司工作,则应观察这家公司通常采用那种方式打印 书信,从而确定日期栏的位置。 3.封内地址 封内地址是收信人的地址,一般写在信纸的左上方, 沿左面边缘写起,按收信人名称、街道名、城市名、地区及 邮编、国家名的顺序书写,尽量限制在4行之内,对于较复 杂的地址,最好限制在5行之内。例如: (1)Messrs.J.Brown&Co.,Ltd. 235 Easteheap London,E.C.3 U.K. (2)Mrs.Lucille Jones,Manager Fast Process Printing Company 999 South Tenth Avenue Birmingham,Alabama 3521 1 U.S.A. 在填写收信人的封内地址时,要注意: (1)正确拼写收信人姓名,与信封上的地址保持一致。 (2)街道、城市名不能缩写,应注意缮写邮政编码,以 确保信函能迅速送达收信人。 (3)当数字1—10单独使用时,或当数字出现在句首 时,数字要用文字来表达,不能用阿拉伯数字。

30在进出口业务中,签约双方中的一方在履行合同的过程中,可能出于某些原因,而不履行、或不完全履行合同。这时,根据合同规定,其中受损的一方(通常是买方)有权向另一方(通常是卖方)就货物的品种、质量、数量、包装、错发错运、随船单证不全或漏填漏发、交货时间等方面提出抱怨。按照惯例,抱怨往往伴随着对其所受损失给予赔偿(即索赔)的要求,或其他补救措施。进出口术语将受损方所采取的上述行为称为“索赔”,而将责任方因对方采取的上述行为而做出的处理,称为“理赔”。索赔一般包括以下几个程序:1. 拟订索赔声明2. 准备证据3. 发出索赔信函上述程序必须在合同中规定的索赔期内完成。若双方对争议的内容不能达成一致,进而造成无法通过协商,或通过第三者出面协调来解决争端,这时,按合同规定,往往通过仲裁的方式解决。要通过仲裁解决,首先必须订立书面仲裁协议书,以表明双方当事人愿意将争端交付仲裁机构裁决。仲裁协议书可以在拟订合同时拟就,作为合同的条款之一,也可以在争端发生后订立,其一般包括如下内容:1. 仲裁地点2. 仲裁机构3. 仲裁程序4. 仲裁效力5. 仲裁费用起草上述商用书信时,应注意国际惯例:用以理服人的具体证据和彬彬有礼的文字与对方沟通。受损的一方要避免责备的语气、失望的情绪和威胁对方语句。致损的一方在收到对方的抱怨信函后,若发现对方的抱怨和索赔的要求不当,也应保持和善的态度,有理有节地予以回复;若理在对方,则应立即向对方表示抱歉,并采取切实措施,以弥补己方的错误,并尽量挽回对方的损失。常用语句:Upon opening the case we found it contained completely different articles, and we presume that amistake was made and the contents of the case were for another order.开箱时,我们发现所装的货物与订单规定的不同,我方估计是贵方出了错误,此箱货物系另第十讲外贸函电(八)索赔与理赔(Claims and Adjustments)(周维家 上海金融学院)31一张订单的。We regret to inform you that the goods shipped per s.s.
