The Double Seventh Festival, on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month, is a traditional festival full of romance. It often goes into August in the Gregorian calendar.
Do you know the beautiful love story passed down from generation to generation about the Doubles Seventh Festival?
Long long ago, there was an honest and kind-hearted fellow named Niu Lang . He lived by farming with an old cow. One day, The magical cow kindly told him a way to find a beautiful and nice woman as his wife. Under the direction of the cow, Niu Lang stole Zhi Nu’s fairy clothes, in hoping that she would stay with him. Zhi Nu agreed and later she fell in love with Niu Lang.
Then they got married and lived happily. Niu Lang farmed in the field and Zhi Nu wove at home.
But one day, Zhi Nu was brought away. Niu Lang chased after to heaven with their children.
At the time when he was about to catch up with his wife,the Queen Mother of the Western Heavens created the Milky Way in the sky with her hairpin, which kept the lovers apart.
Their loyalty to love touched magpies, so tens of thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for the Niu Lang and Zhi Nu to meet each other .
The Queen Mother was eventually moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th of the 7th lunar month.
But As we know, the ancient traditions are disappearing in modern society, and the qixi festival is slowly fading out people’s memory either. More and more people tend to celebrate valentine's day rather than The Double Seventh Festival ,however, that’s why?
First,most qixi traditional customs cannot attract modern people,such as ingenuity test by floating needle ,and Cobweb as the Determinant . Instead, rose, chocolate, red wine , candlelight dinners ,the synonymous with valentine,is more easy to be accpeted。

Second,The legend of qixi impressed us with the sadness that lovers met only once a year 。

The pain of missing can not be accepted by to day’s lovers.Valentine builds one kind warmth and romantic atmosphere that everyone enjoy.
At last,A lot of advertisement help to spread the valentine's day.While our socialty have done little for the promotion of traditional qixi.
What should we do for this situation? Below I put forward three Suggestions.
First, The government and cultural institutions should try their best to promote festival cultrul，let the public ,especially ,the young generation , know Qixi better.
Second, we should Change and rich the festival form to make it more easy to be accepted.
Third, Regulate Chinese valentine's day as a statutory holiday. Now, Starts from us,Let’s celebrate Qixi this year!。
