APRINCETON UNIVERSITY How to Apply cost & Aid Academic Campus Life Undergraduate AdmissionWho Can Apply*First-year fall applicants*Transfer students through the transfer admission processHow to ApplyFor each class, we bring together a varied mix of high-achieving, intellectually gifted students from diverse backgrounds to create an exceptional learning community. We care about what students have accomplished in and out of the classroom. The process is highly selective. In recent years, we've offered admission to less than 7 percent of applicants. As you prepare your application, help us to appreciate your talents, academic accomplishments and personal achievements. We'll ask for your transcript (成绩单)and recommendations, and we will want to know more than just the statistics in your file. Tell us your story. Show us what's special about you. Tell us how you would seize the academic and nonacademic opportunities at Princeton and contribute to the Princeton community. Above all, please write in a style that reflects your own voice.Princeton accepts the Coalition Application and Common Application. Princeton treats them all equally. To apply, you will need to submit online either the Coalition Application or the Common Application, plus the Princeton Supplement. When to ApplyYou have two choices for applying to Princeton for first-year admission—single-choice early action or regular decision. Before you begin preparing your application, we strongly encourage you to review our standardized testing policy, which includes detailed information regarding our standardized testing requirements.* Single-choice Early Action, also known as restrictive early action (If you have thoroughly researched your college options and have decided that Princeton is your first choice)Nov. 1 Application DueNov. 9 Princeton Financial Aid Application Due*Regular DecisionJan. 1 Application DueFeb. 1 Princeton Financial Aid Application Due1.

His teacher got so 16 him and said, “Johnny, you’re the naughtiest boy in this class! Besides that, you’re the dumbest! I 17 if you’ll ever change!” Well the next year Johnny had a 18 teacher. And on the first day of class, she met with Johnny after school. She said, “Johnny, I’ve heard a lot about you!” Then she winked at him and said, “But I don’t 19 a word of it!” And every day after that, this new teacher treated Johnny as if he was one of the smartest and 20 students even when Johnny did naughty things. After watching Cheryl, my daughter-in-law, through the six long months when her mother suffered towards death, I think the most painful moments can be in the waiting to say good-bye.Cheryl made the two-hour trip over and over to be with her mother. They spent the long afternoons praying, comforting, and retelling their shared memories. As her mother’s pain increased and more medication was needed to ease her into sedation, Cheryl sat for hours of silent vigil (守夜) by her mother’s bed. Each time she kisseed her mother before eleaving, her mother would be close to tears and say, “I’m sorry. You drove so far and sat for so long and I didn’t even get up to talk with you.”Cheryl would tell her not to worry, but still her mother felt she had let her down and apologized at each good-bye until the day Cheryl found a way to give her mother the same reassurance her mother had given to her so many times.“Mom, do you remember when I made the high school basketball team?” Chery l’s mother nodded. “You’d drive so far and sit for so long and I never even left the bench to play. You waited for me after every game and each time I felt bad and apologized to you for wasting your time.” Cheryl gently took her mother’s hand.“Do you remember what you would say to me?”“ I would say I didn’t come to see you play. I came to see you.”“And you meant those words, didn’t you?”“Yes, I really did.”“Well, now I say the same words to you. I didn’t come to see you talk. I came to see you.”Her mother understood and smiled as she floated back into sleep.Their afternoons together passed quietly into days, weeks, and months. Their love filled the spaces between their words. To the last day they cared for each other in the stillness, love given and received just by seeing each other. A love so strong that, even in this deepened silence that followed their last good-bye, Cheryl can still hear her mother’s love.1. The toads failed in that duty but spread across Queensland and into neighboring northern areas. Now it calmly invades the states of Western Australia and New South Wales (NSW). NSW wildlife experts fear the amphibians —which have poisonous backs that kill hungry predators—will have a terrible effect on native animals. Those fears may be about to be realized. Australia’s leading government research body, the Commonwealth Science and Industry Research Organization (CSIRO), forecasts that a rise in average temperatures will make NSW an ideal living place for the cane toads.Tony Robinson, head of CSIRO’s Wildlife, Pest, and Diseases Program, said climate change is increasing the amount of suitable living place for the cane toads.“With climate change, the cane toads might go down as far as Sydney and some areas of Western Australia,”Robinson said.Recent estimates put the pace of the toads’ westward march at nearly 17 miles (27 kilometers) a year and slightly slower from north to south.“More southerly cities, such as Melbourne and Adelaide, would likely remain too cold and dry to ever suit the toads,” Robinson noted, “but Perth could expect cane toads in five years’ time.”Sydney could see their arrival in the next 20 years.Robinson said there is no method that will keep the toads under control. The cane toads already cover at least half of Queensland and most of the northern country. The toads are believed to number in the billions.A Venezuelan virus was tried in the 1990s but had to be given up after it was found to also kill native frog species. Scientists and governmental bodies believe a national approach is needed. The main threat the toads cause to species such as dingoes, and crocodiles is the poison contained in glands (腺) on each of their shoulders. The poison sprays out when the toads are threatened or handled roughly. The poison is made up of 14 different chemicals.Cane toads also compete, and usually win the hunt for food and living space.“If the government and other states combine resources, I believe we can achieve a very practical biological- control research program,” Burns said.8. There are six __4 _ in analyzing a problem.First the person must recognize that there is a problem. For example, Sam's bicycle is broken, and he cannot ride it to class as he usually does. So it is with leadership. Some men are born with the ability of leadership. Some gain that art by watching and studying the actions of those around them. Other persons find themselves thrown into unusual situations which require them to draw on resources they never realized they had, and events bring out marked leadership. Most of us are never put to such tests. Most of us are not born leaders. We often hear people say, "He's a great fellow to work for." We see workers go out of their way to do things for certain supervisors (管理人). We see them carry out instructions cheerfully and well or even add something to the doing of the job which was unexpected. In other words, they put themselves into the job and give it that "plus effort" which people give only when they feel that they are part of the team, that they are making a contribution to its success, and that their contributions are understood and appreciated. Now this is not something which just happens. It is built on a one-to-one relationship. It is reflection(反映) of a person's attitudes toward the job, the supervisor and the company. Where it exists, it has been developed over a period, as a result of three simple factors: confidence, cooperation and understanding of their supervisor who understands them, appreciates their efforts, and tries to give them all a fair deal.1.
