Unit 19~Unit 20●知识整合一、知识网络二、词语辨析1.whole/all/entire/totalwhole着重“完整的”整体,指完整无缺的统一体,不可分割,一个不少,没有丝毫减少和遗漏。
entire含“齐全无缺”之意,即其完整的程度达到既不可减少也不可增添的地步。
total指数量上的全部。
all常可与whole互换,但whole位于定冠词,物主代词之后,而all则放在它们前面。
whole在日常用语中用的最多,而entire则可修饰抽象名词,而whole则不行。
2.demand/require两者相同的是:后面均可接sth.of sb.;接宾语从句时,谓语部分都用虚拟语气,用should+动词原形或只用动词原形。
两者不同的是:require可以跟不定式作宾语补足语,而demand 不行。
但两词都可接不定式作宾语。
另外,require后可接动名词,相当于need,但demand 只能接不定式。
demand可用作名词。
3.catch/grab/grasp/seizecatch是普通用语,有“设法抓住、捉住”的意思;同时还可表示“赶上”。
