The ideal amount is 6.7 grams per day (0.23 ounces). A typical dark chocolate bar weighs about 43 grams. That means eating one dark chocolate bar over the course of 6.5 days to get 6.7 grams per day.The study was conducted by Research Laboratories of the Catholic University and the National Cancer Institute of Milan and has been published in the Journal of Nutrition. The data come from a study called the Moli-sani Project, which selected men and women at least 35 years old randomly from city hall registries in southern Italy. For the chocolate study, researchers identified 4,849 people in good health without risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol and high blood pressure. These participants were asked about their dark chocolate consumption. Research has shown t hat patients who have a low amount of C-reactive protein in their blood have lower levels of inflammation (发炎). People who eat dark chocolate regularly, in small amounts, have significantly lower levels of C-reactive protein, according to the study. Besides, another study show that people who survived a heart attack and eats chocolate at least twice a week may be 70 percent less likely to die from heart disease than non-chocolate lovers. Dark chocolate's antioxidants (抗氧化剂), which prevents blood clots, does the trick.1Eating __________ of dark chocolate each day may guard people against heart disease, according to the first paragraph. 2.The underlined word “participants” in paragraph 3 refers to ________. A.those who were studied问题 8得 3 分,满分 3 分3.The study shows that _______________. A.regular taking of small quantities of dark chocolate may prevent heart disease问题 9得 3 分,满分 3 分4.The underlined expression “does the trick” in Paragraph 4 probablymeans ________. 5.The best title of the text may be ________. Passage 2All too often, a choice that seems sustainable turns out on closer examination to be problematic. Probably the best example is the rush to produce ethanol for fuel from corn. Corn is a renewable resource —you can harvest it and grow more, almost limitlessly. So replacing gas with corn ethanol seems like a great idea. One might get a bit more energy out of the ethanol than that used to make it, which could still make ethanol more sustainable than gas generally, but that’s not the end of the problem. Using corn to make ethanol means less corn is left to feed animals and people, which drives up the cost of food. That result leads to turning the fallow land —including, in some cases, rain forest in places such as Brazil —into farmland, which in turn gives off lots of carbon dioxide(CO2)into the air. Finally, over many years, the energy benefit from burning ethanol would make up for the forest loss. But by then, climate change would have progressed so far that it might not help. You cannot really declare any practice “sustainable” until you have done a complete lift-cycle analysis of its environmental costs. Even then, technology and public policy keep developing, and that development can lead to unforeseen and undesired results. The admirable goal of living sustainable requires plenty of thought on an ongoing basis.6.The author may probably agree that ______________. B.ethanol produced from corn maynot be much better than gas问题12得3 分,满分3 分7.What might directly cause the loss of the forest according to the text?所选答案:C.The greater need forfarmland. 8.The underline word “it” in the second paragraph refers to “______________” .所选答案:A.the energy benefit问题 14得 3 分,满分 3 分9.The author thinks that replacing gas with corn ethanol is ______________. 10.What does the author mainly discuss in the text?所选答案: B.Sustainability.问题 16得 3 分,满分 3 分第三部分:词汇与语法(每题3分,共15分)1.The path's rather steep here so you'll need to hold the rail.所选答案:A.on to问题 17得 3 分,满分 3 分2.The pictures ________ me of the beautiful days we spent together. 3.You have been ________ to make the decision by yourself. 4.The judge declared in court the middle-age d plumber was __________ and let him go home. 5. _____________ twice, the postman refused to deliver our letters unless we chained our dog.所选答案:C.Bitten问题 21得 1 分,满分 1 分第四部分:完形填空(每题1分,共10分)Most people have had a dog or wanted one as their companion at some time in their lives.
