美国民主的起源——蒙昧、信仰摘要：蒙昧是民主的大敌，却也是文明必经的阶段，就像分娩时的阵痛。
美国也不例外，在美国诞生的过程中，便交织着许多蒙昧而野蛮的插曲，这些是美国的黑历史，也是美国前进的阶梯。
同时，美国的诞生于基督教之间的关系也是千丝万缕，基督教之于美国民主制的发展而言同样具有十分重要的作用，从“五月花号”上的清教徒到美国的国父们的制宪历程之路，基督教信仰一直伴随左右。

”老人家的言外之意，在所有人类探索过实行过的制度中，民主是目前最好的选择，尽管有诸多欠缺，却找不到比之更加完善的制度来代替。
而美国，正是一个以民主建国，以自由为号角的国家。
现今世界，绝大多数国家都是采用民主制的，但是像美国这般甫一立国便是民主制的国家却着实不多。
美国是幸运的，因为它的出现是那么得天独厚，启蒙运动带来的自由民主理论；经济发展较为自由；法国等国家的援助等等这些条件都已为她备下，只等自由女神燃起她的火炬。
不过，美国民主制度的起源的因素远不止以上比较重要的那几点，我今天要论述的两点就我所了解相对较少被提及的两点因素，分别是是蒙昧与信仰对美国民主发展的影响。
掌控蒙昧与民主之间的界限蒙昧，即未开化的原始状态，是文明的反义词，民主的大敌。
然而，全人类都是从蒙昧走向文明，从野蛮走向民主，美国也不例外。
虽然美国作为大英帝国殖民地身份有一定的先天优势，但我们仍不应忽视其蒙昧的因子。
美国被作为殖民地开发的那段岁月对印第安人的屠杀是美国历史上无法抹去的一段灰色地带。
大量原始落后的印第安人被所谓的欧洲先进文明人屠杀，强制迁徙到环境恶劣的地区，印第安人最终人口锐减。
但这绝对无法归结为文明人战胜了野蛮人，而是文明退化为了野蛮。
要知道，在开发殖民地的清教徒们初次来到这片土地时，正是印第安人接济了他们，最后印第安人却反遭屠戮。
不得不说，美国历史最开始的一段日子并不像传说中那样充满的信仰的光辉，而是以蒙昧和野蛮开道。

整座铜像以120钢铁为骨架，80铜片为外皮，30万只铆钉装配固定在支架上，总重量达225吨。

Statue of LibertyThe Statue of Liberty is more than a monument（纪念碑）. She is a beloved friend, a living symbol of freedom to millions around the world. These exhibits are a tribute（颂歌）to the people who created her, to those who built and paid for her, to the ideals she represents, and to the hopes she inspires（激发）.one of the tallest statues e ver built. Its complete name is “Liberty Enlightening the World.”The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the people of the United States from the people of France. 3The idea for the statue came from a 4 history expert in 1865. Six years later, artist Frederic Bartholdi traveled to the United States to 5 support for building the statue. He decided it should stand on an island in New York harbor.Bartholdi began designing the statue when he returned to France. He designed the statue’s face to look like his mother’s. French officials organized a group to raise money and 6 the project. The French people gave four hundred thousand dollars to build the statue. In 7 , the Americans established a similar committee to raise money needed to build the statue’s bas e.The statue was built in France. Bartholdi had hoped it would be ready on the one hundredth 8 of the American Declaration of Independence in 1876. But it was not. France officially presented the statue to the United States minister to France in Paris on July fourth, 1884.The statue was then taken apart and sent to the United States. “Liberty Enlightening the World” was completed in the United States in 1886. New York City celebrated with a huge 9 . President Grover Cleveland and other American and French officials 10 the ceremonies.11 . Its meaning is expressed in the famous poem by Emma Lazarus that is writtenon the statue’s base.
