When we share a laugh at our mistakes,we can calm ourselves down with a little bit understanding and acceptance. When one morning in a rush to school,I spilled (潑洒)my cup of orange juice. I immediately thought of the valuable minutes I would have to spend in cleaning up the floor.I raced back and forth to the sink (洗碗槽)with a kitchen cloth soaked (浸透)with juice to wash off. My legs were shaking as I watched from my window the school bus coming to my street. Within a minute,I had thrown the orange-juice-soaked cloth to the sink and ran outside to join the group of kids in entering the bus. When thinking about my morning rush to clean up the spilled juice on the bus,I realized how much unnecessary stress and worry I put myself through. I ended up smiling to myself about my not-so-serious nervousness over spilled juice. These days I don’t usually spill orange juice, but I do sometimes spill a bit of spaghetti sauce on my pant or put on my sweater backwards when I’m really tired and in a hurry for school. In each of my mistakes,I try to remind myself not to take myself so seriously. It takes me a minute to calm down, take a deep breath and smile at my carelessness. It is the ability to see mistakes in a different way that enables me to find humor in everyday moments.Humor, however, doesn’t always have to occur from silly mistakes. Kids may have a good laugh at comic books, classic jokes and stories told by friends and parents. What matters more is not where you find the humor in life, but that you can appreciate it.4. When we make mistakes in our daily lives,we ___ .A. might treat them humorouslyB. may try to enjoy ourselvesC. must know the value of themD. had better forget them in time5. What did the author do before going to school in Paragraph 2?A. He prepared breakfast busily.B. He had some clothes washed.C. He made a cup of orange juice.D. He did some cleaning at home.6. What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 3?A. He makes many mistakes now and then.B. He tries to keep himself calm with humor.C. He has been used to being busy every day.D. He always makes other people around happy.7. What does the author intend to tell us?A. Reading is a good habit for us.B. We should try to find where humor lies.C. We can be happy by enjoying humor.D. It is natural for us to make mistakes. With only about 1,000 pandas left in the world,China is badly trying to clone (克隆)the animal and save the endangered species. That’s a move similar to what a TexasA&M University researcher has been undertaking for the past five years in a project called “Noah’s Ark”.Noah’s Ark is aimed at collecting eggs, embryos, semen and DNA of endangered animals and storing them in liquid nitrogen. “If certain species should become extinct,” Dr Duane Kraemer says,“there would be enough of the basic building blocks to reintroduce the species in the future.”It is estimated that as many as 2,000 species of mammals, birds and reptiles will become extinct over the next 100 years. The panda, native only to China,is in danger of becoming extinct in the next 25 years. This week,Chinese scientists said they grew an embryo by introducing cells from a dead female panda into the egg cells of a Japanese white rabbit. They are now trying to implant the embryo into a host animal. The entire process could take from three to five years to complete.“The nuclear transfer (核移植)of one species to another is not easy, and the lack of available panda eggs could be a major problem,” Kraemer believes. “They will probably have to do several hundred transfers to result in one pregnancy (懷孕). It takes a long time and it’s difficult, but this could be groundbreaking science if it works. They are certainly not putting any live pandas at risk,so it is worth the effort,” adds Kraemer, who is one of the leaders of the Project at Texas A&M,the first-ever attempt at cloning a dog.“They are trying to do something that’s never been done, and this is very similar to our work in Noah’s Ark. We’re both trying to save animals that face extinction. I certainly appreciate their effort and there’s a lot we can learn from what they are attempting to do. It’s research that is very much needed.”8. What is the aim of “Noah’s Ark” project?A. To save endangered animals from dying out.B. To collect DNA of endangered animals to study.C. To transfer the nuclear of one animal to another.D. To make efforts to clone the endangered pandas.9. Kraemer thinks the major problem of panda cloning would be lacking ___ .A. host animalsB. enough moneyC. qualified researchersD. available panda eggs10. What can we know about Dr Duane Kraemer?A. He thinks the research is needed badly.B. He tries to implant a panda’s egg into a rabbit.C. He and his team have succeeded in cloning a dog.D. He will work with Chinese scientists in cloning research.11. What can be the best title for the text?A. China’s Success in Panda CloningB. The First Cloned Panda in the WorldC. Exploring the Possibility to Clone PandasD. China—the Native Place of Pandas ForeverThousands of tiny,bright-red crabs (螃蟹)almost covered the beaches of Southern California completely last week. They appeared on beaches in Newport Beach,Laguna Beach,Huntington Beach, and other seaside communities at low tide, surprising surfers and swimmers in the area. “I was so startled to see them,” Laguna Beach resident (居民)Lauren Cavalier told The Los Angeles Times. “I had no idea that this kind of thing happened.”These bright-red crabs from the ocean are also called tuna crabs. Each one is about 1 to 3 inches long. Although they look like tiny crawfish or lobsters, they aren’t good for eating since they don’t have a lot of meat. Also their meat is poisonous, causing those who eat the meat to become sick. So residents don’t catch them for meat. These crabs are active during the day but prefer to stay in the shade and can die in the heat of direct sunlight.Marine experts (海洋生物學家)say the crab population increase is likely a result of the El Nino weather pattern. This natural climate pattern occurs when the water in the Pacific Ocean near the equator gets hotter than usual. The warmer waters linked to El Nino pushed large quantities of the crabs up north from Mexico, the marine experts said. This isn’t the first time that El Nino has affected the location of creatures living in the Pacific Ocean. The black skimmer is a subtropical seabird that has been spotted off the coast of San Diego, much further north than it usually lives. Marin needlefish, sea hares, and Dana Point whales have also appeared in areas further north than their typical habitats. The red tuna crabs have been washed up along the coastline of Southern California for the past several years. Before that, they hadn’t been seen in the area for decades.12. What does the underlined word “startled” in Paragraph 1 probably mean?A. Worried.B. Thrilled.C. Shocked.D. Confused.13. What probably pushed the red crabs up north according to the marine experts?A. Warmer waters.B. Air pollution.C. Heavy Rains.D. Habitat loss.14. What do we know about the red crabs from the text?A. They live in the Pacific Ocean.B. They are fond of enjoying sunshine.C. They are delicious to eat.D. They are a kind of crawfish.15. What does the text mainly talk about?A. El Nino is changing the location of many creatures.B. Red crabs are suffering from extinction because of heat.C. Residents of Southern California are threatened by red crabs.D. Countless tuna crabs appeared on the beaches of Southern California.二、完形填空阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

They began an email correspondence which turned into a friendship that eventually saw the then 14-year-old invited to join a trip to the Antarctic. He said yes almost instantly. Friends and family, to whom he’d so far shown he had no particular inte rest in outdoor pursuits, particularly polar ones, were thrown into total confusion, to say the least. He ate lots of chicken, spent a long time in the gym, and proved them wrong. The following year, Liautaud cooked up a more ambitious plan: to become the youngest-ever person to go to the North Pole. He found a new partner, Doug Stoup, and through a mixture of charm and luck raised the roughly $150,000 needed for the record attempt. Then disaster struck. The early months of the year, when the two set out, were among the warmest on record. The North Pole, which is essentially a GPS location on a constantly-drifting collection of ice sheets, became virtually inaccessible, surrounded by pieces of uncovered ocean.A trip which had intended to raise awareness of melting ice caps had been delayed by melting Ice caps. " We would get up, battle throughthese difficult conditions for 150 hours, then wake up the next morning and find that we were further away from the Pole than we’d started the previous morning, he sai d. After 14 days’ trying, they admitted defeat. Liautaud came home and decided to try again the next spring. Conditions were cold but perfect, and he and Stoup reached the Pole in no time. While it might not have made him the youngest North-Poler, the success did give Liautaud a platform to continue advocacy against climate change, through his campaigning website. His view is that it's his generation that must push hardest for cuts in carbon emissions. He has already contributed to research projects carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency and will soon set up two stations to record weather data.8.How did Liautaud's family react to his decision to go to the Antarctic A.They made fun of it.B.They turned a deaf ear to it .C.They were puzzled about it.D.They tried to talk him out of it.9.What prevented Liautaud and Stoup from reaching the North Pole A.The movement of the iceB.The lack of fundsC.The severe weatherD.The failure of the equipment10.Why was Liautaud determined to go to the North PoleA.To push his physical limitsB.To become the youngest North-PolerC.To finish a research project for his websiteD.To support environmental protection11.Which of the following words can best describe Liautaud as a young manA.Demanding B.Responsible C.Generous D.CooperativeDIf you ask something of ChatGPT, an artificial-intelligence(AI) tool, you may immediately get the responses, completely certain and often wrong. The questions raised by technologies like ChatGPT cause much more tentative answers. But they are ones that managers ought to start asking. One issue is how to deal with employees’ concerns about job security. Worries are natural. An AI that makes it easier to process your expenses is one thing; an AI that people would prefer to sit next to at a dinner party quite another. Being clear about how workers would redirect time and energy that is freed up by an AI helps foster acceptance. So does creating a sense of agency: research conducted by MIT Sloan Management Review and the Boston Consulting Group found that an ability to override an AI makes employees more likely to use it.Arthur Jago of the University of Washington and Glenn Carroll of theStanford Graduate School of Business investigate how willing people are to give rather than earn credit—specifically for work that someone did not do on their own. They showed volunteers something attributed to a specific person — an artwork, say, or a business plan — and then revealed that it had been created either with the help of an algorithm or with the help of human assistants. Everyone gave less credit to producers when they were told they had been helped, but this effect was more pronounced for work that involved human assistants. The picture that emerges from such research is messy. It is also dynamic: just as technologies evolve, so will attitudes. But it is crystal-clear on one thing. The impact of ChatGPT and other AIs will depend not just on what they can do, but also on how they make people feel.;12.What should managers take into consideration when using technologies like ChatGPTA.Skills used for them. B.Issues caused by them.C.Accuracy ensured in them. D.Alternatives discovered for them.;13.What can we learn about employees’ attitude towards AI from Paragraph 2A.They find it can make their work more complicated.B.They think it is a threat for AI to replace them at work.C.They consider it’s normal for AI to finish all their work.D.They feel it’s vital for them to acknowledge its abilities.;14.What did the volunteers think of a task accomplished with AI algorithmA.They thought little of it. B.They were unaware of it.C.They spoke highly of it. D.They felt envious about it.;15.What does the passage mainly talk aboutA.The limitation of AI. B.The importance of Chat GPTC.The relationship between AI and humans. D.The practical application of Chat GPT.
以when, where, what, which, who, how much/many等疑问词引出的问题。
2.推断是非形式。
含有TRUE/FALSE, NOT true或EXCEPT等的推断是非的问题。
此时要留意题干中是否含有否定词,如not, never等。
3.以“According to ...”

Besides, the traditional method also uses a lot of water to control weeds as herbicides are costly and often do not distinguish between the rice and the unwanted weeds.Government scientists said the new rice varieties contain a gene that would allow farmers to spray a common, inexpensive herbicide without worrying about any side effects. “Our focus is very hi gh on new seeds that can be adapted to new conditions, especially in changing climates,” Modi said.Water conservation is likely to be the main attraction of the new rice varieties in India, where farmers rely heavily on the monsoon (季风) rain. The traditional method uses 3,000 to 5,000 liters of water to produce 1 kg of rice. The new varieties could cut water use by at least 50% to 60%, farmers and government officials say. “For farmers like us, the main concern was the management of water, and the new varieties take care of that concern,” said Ravindra Kajal, who grows rice on his 9acre farmland in the northern state of Haryana. India is the world's secondlargest rice producer after China.7.Which is the benefit of the new rice?A.It can produce herbicides.B.It can be planted in any field.C.It needs a lot of water to grow.D.It can save money for farmers.8.Why can farmers apply a common herbicide to the new rice? A.The new rice contains herbicides itself.B.The herbicide is suitable for all rice varieties.C.The gene in the new rice can avoid harm from the herbicide. D.The herbicide can distinguish the rice from the weeds. 9.What plays an important role in riceplanting in India? A.Water. B.Temperature.C.Wind.
