The topic of this unit is “The Internet Connects us”, and the title of this lesson is “The Internet –Good o r Bad”. I decide to talk about this lesson from four parts:Part One——Analysis of the Teaching MaterialOne: Status and FunctionIn this unit we have learned some usages of the Internet. In this lesson, we will learn about some disadvantages of the Internet. It will lead the students to understand the double sides of the Internet. So it plays an important role in this unit.Nowadays, more and more students are addicted to the Internet, so it is necessary to learn how to use it properly. This hot topic is easy to arouse the Ss’ learning interests.Two: Teaching AimsThe teaching aims are based on the Junior School English syllabus' provision.1. Knowledge objects(1) After this lesson, the students can master several words and phrases such as: advantage, simple, coin, cause, less, steal, in seconds, far away, every coin has two sides, aside from and take up. (2) Ss can master the usage of adverbial clause with “if”2. Ability objects(1) To improve the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.(2) To train the students’ abilities of using the language flexibly.(3) To develop their spirit of cooperation through teamwork3. Part Two——The Teaching MethodsAccording to the major points and the difficulties of the lesson, I think teachers should attract the students’ interest, make them feel confident,form good habits and improve their learning skills---listening, speaking, reading and writing.In order to achieve the targets, I’ll mainly use the following teaching methods:1. Multi-media teaching method: It’s very interesting and effective. It’s used for attracting the students’ attention and making them learn quickly and well.2. The students in our school have low ability of using English. Their basic knowledge is poor. Most of them are afraid of answering the questions in English. English studying is a little difficult for them.I will plan all the teaching steps according to training their “four skills”Step 1 Talking and leading in (3mins)1. Show some pictures about the usages of the Internet on one page of PPT.Ask the students a question: what can you do on the Internet?They can use the following structures to answer the question.I can use the Internet to… / I can … on the Internet/by using the Internet.(Ask about 10 students to answer and add marks to their own groups)2. Ask the students: Is the Internet good or bad?I think it has two sides like a coin. Showing pictures about both sides of a coin and present the saying “Every coin has two sides” Every thing has two sides. We can also say one is advantage and the other is disadvantage. They can take an active part in new class quickly. It also creates a relaxing atmosphere.Step 2 New teaching (5mins)Ask some students to read the words one by one, I need to correct their pronunciation, and then read them together. I will ask two students from different groups to write their answers on the blackboard. After a while, let them discuss the answers in groups. And then check the answers and find out the language points. Making a hyperlink to learn more about why is the Internet bad for people’s health.(3) Reading after the CD and make a conclusionLet the students listen and imitate the text. Pay attention to their pronunciation and intonation Purpose: These steps aim to develop Ss’ reading ability and make them have a better understanding of the article. Through group work, cultivate the spirit of cooperation, and train the ability of solve problem by themselves.Step 5 TalkingPresent some pictures on the screen. And then work in groups to compete the sentences. Purpose: It will improve their thinking and the speaking skill.
