Design Analysis of the text: According to the text, we know something about a play
should be composed of three parts: characters, setting and plot.
According to the play, we should learn that happiness is to be found not in luxuries
such as wealth, but in simple things that are found in family life, and in acts of
friendship and kindness.
Analysis of the students: My students are grade2 senior high middle school. There are
some new words and phrases, which are important and difficult for them. But the
content of the text is attractive, most of the students can focus on the text.
Learning aims:
1) Be aware of what a play includes.
2) Improve students’ reading, understanding and concluding skills.
3) Master several important sentences and phrases.
4) Master the central idea of the play.
Teaching methods:
Lead-in by watching a short video to understand the main idea of The Blue Bird.
Studying the part to know what the plot includes. Design some questions to make the
students understand the plot easier.
Design the questions which are similar to the college entrance examination.
Design reading comprehension to understand the play deeply.
Act out the play in class.

Step 1. Watching a video
Understand the text.
Step 2. Introduction to the writer of The Blue Bird Maurice Maeterlinck (29 August
1862 - 6 May 1949) was a Belgian playwright, poet and essayist who wrote in French.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1911. The main themes in his work
are death and the meaning of life. His plays form an important part of the Symbolist
movement.
Step 3. Introduction to the Blue Bird
Read the introduction to The Blue Bird and answer the question:
Where do you think the children find the Blue Bird?

Step 5. 直击高考 Tyltyl and Mytyl
