1. ScopeThis standard covers the test method for burnout resistance of electric equipmentother than electric wiring. 2. Test Item and Tested Parts (1) Overcurrent test I: electronic component (ECU), switch, relay, connector, noise suppression filter, current limitation register, etc. (2) Overcurrent test II: electronic component (ECU), relay etc. (3) Locking test: electronic component (ECU), motor, solenoid, pump, cigarettelighter, etc. (4) Voltage resistance test: switch, relay, connector, etc. As for electroniccomponents (ECU), the standards concerned shall be applied. 3. Test MethodAs a rule, new samples and connecting electric wire (including connectors) shallbe used for each test. 3.1 Overcurrent Test I3.1.1 PurposeThe purpose is to check for damage to components shown in Section 2 before circuitprotection devices (e.g., fuse, bimetal, PTC) work. 3.1.2 PreparationsPreparations shall be made as follows: (1) Power source Constant-voltage and constant-current source:0 to 35 V, 0 to 600 A minimum (2) Connecting electric wire Size and type shall be identical to those of wires used in actual vehicles, and the length between sample and power source shall be 1.5 m or longer. (3) Sample installation Direction of installation and peripheral conditions shall conform to thoseof an actual vehicle. In the case where the heat capacity of the peripheralarea produces some effect on heat radiation of sample, special attention isrequired. Wiring connector shall be held horizontally.
