2 children nowadays spend too much time on watching television and playing video games. Describe the effects on children, families and society. Report the measures to solve the problem.
It is an undisputable fact that the products of modern technology, taking television, video and PC as examples, have not only brought people uncountable conveniences but also high-efficiency. Nevertheless, there are a sizable percentage of people who claim that TV, video and PC exert an unfavorable effect upon children. Personally, I am in favor of this viewpoint.
Apparently, spending too much time on TV, video and PC games, children have not sufficient time to study and do some physical exercises, which are far more significant for them. According to a recent survey, the time children spend on these activities increase remarkably. To state it more clearly, more than 70% middle school students spend three hours or above watching TV or playing PC games each day, having an enormously disadvantageous impact on their study. For another thing, since TV, video and PC games cost them considerable amounts of time, children do not have adequate time to do sports, which is harmful to their health.
Moreover, because of TV, video and PC games, children became so isolated that they even do not know how to communicate with others, which is vital in the society. In addition, immersing in some unhealthy programs or violent games, a large number of children got psychological problems, are likely to resort to take extreme measures when they face something intractable.
On the other hand, it is undoubted that TV, video and PC games also have some positive influences on children. To demonstrate, not only is it a good way of leisure after tiring study, but also an effective and convenient means to obtain information you need. However, its demerits far outweigh its demerits.
Thus, TV, video and PC games mainly make a negative influence on children, and parents should pay more attention to their children’s after-class activities.
3. School should teach children the academic subjects which will be beneficial in their future career, so other subjects like music and sports are not important. To what extent do you agree or disagree with these opinions.
It is universally acknowledged that the job competition is increasingly stiff, so that some people assert that students should be taught about academic subjects which will be helpful to their future work rather than some subjects, for example, music and sports. I am afraid the view is not convincingly accepted.
Although there are only two or three music or sports classes a week, it does not mean that they are not important. As a matter of fact, these lessons play a pivotal role in students’ campus life. Listening to music can help children relax their bodies and ease their minds which provide them active attitude towards studying. Accordingly, playing sports, such as basketball, football and badminton, will definitely lead to healthy bodies which afford them more energy to study as well as enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
Admittedly, academic subjects are essential to every student as they are useful in their career life. In contemporary society, individuals need enrich their academic experience to be superior to other competitors. In other words, if students do not have enough academic knowledge, they would not find a satisfactory work. However, as with all questions of primary courses versus music and sports courses, they are not mutually exclusive. If we only study primary courses, we would find them monotonous and unmotivating. Consequently, music and sports courses are also an important part of children’s studies.
In conclusion, I would concede that academic subjects are relatively more important in work competition; nevertheless, learning music and sports would be more beneficial to the development of children’s physical and psychological bodies.。
