Lesson 44 At the butcher's
It was Sunday. I had no work to do in the morning, so I decided
to go shopping. The weather was fine, so I walked to the shops.
I needed some meat for dinner, so I went to the butcher's. Mr
Harris spoke to me. He asked me how my wife and I were. Then he
asked me what I wanted.
'A pound of minced beef, please,' I said. 'How much is it?'
'Ten pence,' Mr Harris answered.
I gave him the money and he gave me the minced beef. I put it
in my bag and went home.

Lesson44 Through the forest
新概念2课文内容:
Mrs. Anne Sterling did not think of the risk she was taking when
she ran through a forest after two men. They had rushed up to her

children and triedto steal her handbag. In the struggle, the strap
broke and, with the bag in their possession, both men started running
through the trees. Mrs. Sterling got so angry that she ran after them.
She was soon out of breath, but she continued to run. When she caught
up with them, she saw that they had sat down and were going through
the contents of the bag, so she ran straight atthem. The men got such
a fright that they dropped the bag and ran away. 'The strap needs
mending,' said Mrs. Sterling later, 'but they did not steal
