I still remember it,like it was yesterday when my parents told me the news. It was the week before Christmas on Thursday morning when my parents said, “Stacy, start packing your things so we can go to Florida for the holidays.”

“Okay, ”I responded. We do this every year for Christmas and New Year. It’s kind of a family tradition we have.We go every year because we like to visit some family membe rs living in Florida. There has never been a year when we’ve missed a trip to Florida for the holidays. I was so excited to go on this trip because Christmas is my favorite holiday, but to top it off I was going to get to celebrate it with my family.

The next morning,my mother entered my room.“Stacy, wake up!We need to go to the airport so that we can get our plane tickets to Florida before they sell out.”

I jumped out of bed and got ready as fast as I could. When we were on our way to the airport,I could n’t stop talking and smiling because I was too excited about getting our tickets.

“Aren’t you just excited to go to Florida?” I asked.

“Yes, I am.We can finally catch up with the family and drink hot cocoa,”responded my mother.

The airport was so crowded. Some people were leaving to other countries and others were just visiting for the holiday. There was such a huge line in the airport because so many different people were buying plane tickets.

When it was our turn, my mother said,“Three tickets to Fl orida on Christmas Eve please.”

The lady working there responded,“Well, you guys are lucky. You got the last three tickets to Florida.”

My mother and I both smiled in relief and paid for our tickets and went back home to finish packing.

Paragraph 2:

After we left for the airport to buy tickets,a man climbed into our house to steal money.

When we arrived home, we found father was lying on the floor, bleeding. Though we felt very surprised, we sent him to hospital at once. With the help of doctors, my father came back to life on Christmas Eve, which made our family pleased. My parents loved each other very much, so my mother kept my father company day and night, completely forgetting the trip to Florida. After my father woke up, he said sorry to us and told us everything that happened to him.

After we left for the airport to buy tickets, a man climbed into our house to steal money. My father caught him and bravely fought with him, but unfortunately the man hurt my father. Hearing the news,we were proud of

him. On Christmas Eve, we held a party in hospital for my father. Everyone got together around the Christmas tree and sang Christmas songs to him. That Christmas Eve was quite unusual and meaningful. I will never forget the time I spent with my father on Christmas Eve in hospital.

At a recent 6-year-old’s birthday party together with my daughter,I watched two girls playing in a playroom.Three boys came over and decided they were going to drive the girls away.“No girls allowed,”said one boy.The other two boys crowded around the girls for effect. One of the girls, in fear, did as she was ordered and left the playroom. The other girl stood her ground. “We were here first. You can’t kick us out,”she said.

They weren’t my kids, so I gently told the boys that everyone was allowed to play in the playroom. The boys ignored me, and continued to push the remaining girl out of the room. The girl fell on the ground and screamed in pain. The boys went on with their no-girls-allowed game. I took the girl over to the parents at the party and explained what had happened. What followed was a lesson in how girls were schooled in male power and privilege(特权).The girl’s mother told her that she should have stayed away from the boys. The message to the girl was that it was her fault because she didn’t do what the boys had ordered. A father of one of the boys laughed and told me that I should have caught the girl as she fell. There were no consequences for the boys. Their violence was so much an accepted part of their behavior that it didn’t even raise an eyebrow. In fact, the attitude of the father was that using physical strength to get what you wanted was to be celebrated. The message to the boys was that they could hurt girls without any consequence. Another

mother said,“It’s so hard for boys and girls to play together at this age.”

Paragraph 1:

To that mother’s words,my response is:No!It’s not!

Paragraph 2:

My six-year-old daughter observed the events at the party.

To that mother’s words,my response is:No!It’s not!We are all humans, born without any difference. Though it seems to be a small thing, just a quarrel among children, what it shows is that girls are now suffering from prejudice. Actually, boys and girls are just like two poles of our Earth,so they can’t be apart and there is nothing about who are better. Boys should have a respectful attitude to girls. I think all the parents should teach their children that boys and girls have the same rights.

My six-year-old daughter observed the events at the party. And afterwards she said,“Mom,I think those boys can’t drive the girls away and even injure them.”I said,“That’s true,my dear. Girls are now being looked down upon, but you need to understand that we are equal, though some people don’t think like this.” My daughter nodded and said,“I will try my best to stop violence against women and girls.”

It was a hot and wet day in July.I was driving to the local grocery store because the heat had made my bananas go from yellow to brown overnight. My air conditioner in my car was on high, but it still wasn’t cooling me down. Suddenly, the car in front of me signaled that it was pulling off.I pressed on the brakes and slowed down. Out of the corner of my eye I saw several teenagers standing in the summer sun. They weren’t playing, killing time, or hanging around though. They weren’t drinking, smoking, chatting, or looking at their cell phones. They were working on a porch(走廊).

I recognized them immediately as one of the church work camps. For more years than I can remember these young men and women have volunteered their spring and summer vacations to come here and help repair the homes of poor people. I smiled when I saw them there sweating and working hard to do some good in this world. While the news headlineswere so full of murder, hate, and violence in our society, these young people were doing their best to share some love and light with others. In my heart and mind I heard the words once again:“I was hungry and you gave me food;I was a stranger and you welcomed me;I was naked(裸体的) and you gave me clothing;I was sick and you took care of me.”

There is so much good we can do in this life. There are so many people we can help. There is so much love we can share. And as long as there is life, there is more to do.Whether it is repairing a house, sharing a smile, offering a hug, adopting a dog, visiting the sick, giving to charity(慈善),praying for others, sharing a kind word,or doing any act of goodness, every single thing we do is precious in the eyes of people.

Paragraph 1:

Nowadays loving each other is a good deed and common in the society.

Paragraph 2:

Choose to love, and you will help others.

Nowadays loving each other is a good deed and common in the society. Choose to love, and you will have joy. Therefore, learning from what the young men and women have done,I take part in the church work camps on weekends,no matter how cold or hot it is.What the teenagers have done sets an example to me and changes my mind.Whenever I meet the people in need,I rush to help them.

Choose to love, and you will help others. How do you want to experience life? Will you be more kind?Begin with yourself. Realize that you are powerful and can create love. Take care of your thoughts and feelings and make sure they can reflect the positive aspects of you.You can then devote this love to people and places around you.Your love becomes the love other people feel.Be an angel and choose to live freely and joyfully. In this way, the society we live in will be better and better.

I was responding to a call from a small brick flat(用砖做的公寓) in a quiet part of town. I assumed I was being sent to pick up some party-goers, or someone who had just had a fight with a lover, or a worker heading to an early shift at some factory for the industrial part of town.

When I arrived at 2:30 a.m., the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. Under such circumstances, many drivers just honk(按喇叭) once or twice, wait a minute, then drive away. But I had seen too many weak people who depended on taxis as their only means of transportation.

Unless a situation smelled of danger, I always went to the door.

This passenger might be someone who needs my assistance, I reasoned to myself. So I walked to the door and knocked. “Just a minute,” answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 80s stood before me.She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase.

The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no equipment on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.

“Would you carry my bag out to the car?” she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm, and we walked slowly toward the cab.

She kept thanking me for my kindness.“It’s nothing,” I told her.“I just try t o treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated.”

Having given me an address, a hospice, she asked,“Could you drive through downtown?” Asked why we didn’t take the shortest way, the small woman told me it was the last chance for her to visit the city.We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived. Besides, she asked me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. At last, she said she was tired and wanted to go to the hospice.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me, and it was a low building, where the old lady would live the rest of her life. Two nurses who must have been expecting her came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. I opened the trunk and took the suitcase to the door and the woman was already seated in a wheelchair. When she asked how much she owed me, without thinking, I said nothing and bent to give her a hug. It was my assistance that helped one of weak people realize her wish.

A funny thing happened to Arthur when he was on the way to work one day. As he walked along Park Avenue near the First National Bank, he heard the sound of someone trying to start a car. He tried again and again but couldn’t get the car moving. Arthur turned and looked inside at the face of a young man who looked worried. Arthur stopped and asked, “It looks like you’ve got a problem,”Arthur said. “I’m afraid so. I’m in a big hurry and I can’t start my car.” “Is there something I can do to help?”Arthur asked. The young man looked at the two suitcases in the back seat and then said, “Thanks. If you’re sure it wouldn’t be too much trouble, you could help me get these suitcases into a taxi.” “No trouble at all. I’d be glad to help.” The young man got out and took one of the suitcases from the back seat. After placing it on the ground, he turned to get the other one. Just as Arthur picked up the first suitcase and started walking, he heard the loud noise of an alarm. It was from the bank. There had been a robbery! Park Avenue had been quiet a moment before. Now the air was filled with the sound of the alarm and the shouts of people running from all directions. Cars stopped and the passengers joined the crowd in front of the bank. People asked each other, “What happened?”But everyone had a different answer. Arthur, still carrying the suitcase, turned to look at the bank and walked right into the young woman in front of him. She looked at the suitcase and then at him. Arthur was surprised. “Why is she looking at me like that?”He thought.“The suitcase! One weekend in July,Jane and her husband,Tom,had driven three hours to camp overnight by a lake in the forest.Unfortunately,on the way an unpleasant subject came up and they started to quarrel.By the time they reached the lake,Jane was so angry that she said to Tom, “I'm going to find a better spot for us to camp”and walked away. With no path to follow,Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place, she turned around, hoping to see the lake.To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and,far beyond,a snowcapped mountain top.She suddenly realized that she was lost. “Tom!”she cried.“Help!” No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom. Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall,Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night.Lying awake in the dark,Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him. Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling(滴落)somewhere at a distance.Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy,she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries.Never in her life had she tasted anything better.Feeling stronger now,Jane began to walk along the stream and hope it would lead her to the lake. As she picked her way carefully along the stream,Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me?Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for people to see her from above.A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead. Jane took off her yellow blouse, thinking that she should go to an open area and flag them if they came back again. Paragraph1: But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Paragraph2: It was daybreak when Jane woke up. Before getting lost While getting lost After getting lost 这一时间线索串联出文章的叙事逻辑主线。其中,After getting lost 为文章的重点展开部分。 流程详解 1.梳理记叙要素,归纳文本大意 who Jane,Tom what Jane was lost where in the forest when one weekend in July why a quarrel with Tom,her husband 主旨大意Jane was lost in the forest and survived in the end. 2.厘清叙事情节,助推故事高潮

读后续写 (2017.6浙江卷)阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。 On a bright, warm July afternoon, Mac Hollan, a primary school teacher, was cycling from his home to Alaska with his friends. One of his friends had stopped to make a bicycle repair, but they had encouraged Mac to carry on, and they would catch up with him soon. As Mac pedaled (骑行) along alone, he thought fondly of his wife and two young daughters at home. He hoped to show them this beautiful place someday. Then Mac heard quick and loud breathing behind him. “Man, that’s a big dog!” he thought. But when he looked to the side, he saw instantly that it wasn’t a dog at all, but a wolf, quickly catching up with him. Mac’s heart jumped. He found out his can of bear spray. With one hand on the bars, he fired the spray at the wolf. A bright red cloud enveloped the animal, and to Mac’s relief, it fell back, shaking its head. But a minute later, it was by his side again. Then it attacked the back of Mac’s bike, tearing open his tent bag. He fired at the wolf a second time, and again, it fell back only to quickly restart the chase(追赶). Mac was pedaling hard now. He waved and yelled at passing cars but was careful not to slow down. He was a steep uphill climb before him. He knew that once he hit the hill, he’d be easy caught up and the wolf’s teeth would be tearing into his flesh. At this moment, Paul and Becky were driving their car on their way to Alaska. They didn’t think much of it when they saw two cyclists repairing their bike on the side of the road. A bit later, they spotted what they, too, assumed was a dog running alongside a man on a bike. As they got closer, they realized that the dog was a wolf. Mac heard a large vehicle behind him. He pulled in front of it as the wolf was catching up fast, just a dozen yards away now. Paragraph 1 The car abruptly stopped in front of him. _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________ ___________________ Paragraph 2 A few minutes later, the other two cyclists arrived. _____________________________________________________________________

At Dana's yard sale, Tim chose a baseball from the toys spread on the card table and asked about the price. Dana told him everything was a quarter except Nezumi, a cotton toy rat. It was gray with some cotton sticking out from the hole where an ear had been torn off. "Nezumi is extra special, so he's ten dollars. He needs a safe new home." Dana sighed. Tim laughed saying he didn't have ten dollars. Dana laughed, too and gave Nezumi to Tim as a free gift because he was her friend. When Tim whispered it was sort of old, Dana said old toys were the best. She then invited Tim to her birthday party the next evening, adding that her parents were giving her a real rat for her birthday. Tim was amazed and asked if it was a live rat. "Of course," Dana said. At home, Tim's mother showed him the gift she had bought for Dana. It was a knitting spool (编织线轴) shaped like a mushroom. Mom said Dana could knit a scarf for her doll. Tim sighed that Dana wasn't a knitting kind of person but a rat kind of person. Mom laughed after knowing what had happened. Together they drove to the pet store, where Tim searched and searched and selected a clear plastic ball, one in which the rat could run around on the floor safe from cats and dogs. Tim thought of Nezumi's ear and decided Dana's new rat would need this ball. The next day, Dana brought cupcakes to class. When she handed a cupcake to Tim, she asked if Tim brought Nezumi to school as Nezumi liked to ride in backpacks. Tim was at a loss because Nezumi was at home on his bed. Then Dana asked what gift he was giving her. Tim replied it was a surprise. In silence they sat for a while before he heard Dana say her parents were giving her a new bike for her birthday instead of a live rat because they thought rats would bite things. Paragraph 1: At home that afternoon, Tim stared at the plastic rat ball.
