We need those tough times to gain experience and grow as people.Another year the prompt was "Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners." That one is talking about ethics and how to treat people right. A top-scoring essay outlined how having self-respect gives you principles to live by. And respecting others means being polite andconsiderate. It used examples of famous people with good morals and manners.One prompt I really liked was "Green beliefs generate a green life." That's about protecting the environment! A sample essay described how believing in conservation leads toeco-friendly habits. Like if you really care about the planet, you'll recycle, save energy, avoid waste, and stuff like that. It talked about how going green starts with having the right mindset.There was a really hard prompt one year – "The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials." Big words! But I think it means we can't become better people without going through hard times and struggles. A good essay for that prompt explained how rubbing a rough rock against another rock is what makes a beautiful shiny gem. And how people become wiser and stronger by overcoming obstacles and learning from their mistakes.Writing a whole essay in English sounds insane to me! I'm just a kid still learning English basics like colors, numbers, and how to say "My name is..." But seeing those old prompts has made me realize how important English is if I want to go to a good university someday like my sister. She's been staying upsuper late working on practice essays. I try to help her study new vocab words using my English picture books.No matter what the prompt is, all the high-scoring sample essays follow the same basic structure from what I've seen. They start with a short intro paragraph re-stating the given quote or proverb. Then use the body paragraphs to analyze it from different angles with clear examples. And wrap up with a conclusion re-iterating the main point. Using good transitions between ideas is key too.My sister's English teacher said the most important things are: analyzing the prompt's deeper meaning, giving plenty of specific examples to illustrate your interpretation, showing clear logical reasoning, and relating it back to broader human experiences and lessons. Oh and using advanced vocabulary accurately!I don't know if I could ever write an whole essay like that in English, but I'm rooting for my sister!
