These are included in subsector 315, Apparel Manufacturing. Knitting, when done alone, is classified in Textile Mills subsector; but when knitting iscombined with the production of complete garment, the activity is classified inApparel Manufacturing.314Textile Products MillsThe manufacturing of textile products (except apparel) from purchased fabric isclassified in this subsector. Processes used in this subsector are generally cut and sew(i.e. purchasing fabric and cutting and sewing to make nonapparel textile products, such as sheets (被单) and towels (毛巾)).315Apparel ManufacturingIndustries in this subsector group establishment with two distinct manufacturing processes: (1) cut and sew (i.e., purchasing fabric and cutting and sewing to make a garment) and (2) the manufacture of garments in establishments that first knit fabric and then cut and sew the fabric into a garment.316Leather and Allied Product ManufacturingEstablishment in this subsector transform hides (兽皮) into leather by tanning (鞣革)or curing and fabricating (制造)the leather into products for finalconsumption. It also includes the manufacture of similar products from othermaterials, including products (except apparel) made from “leather substitutes(代用品)”, such as rubber, plastics, or textiles. Rubber footwear, textile luggag e, and plastics purses or wallets are examples of “leather substitutes”Specific for establishments engaged in footwear manufacturing, there is: 3162 Footwear Manufacturing321Wood Product ManufacturingIt includes establishments that make wood products from logs and bolts that aresawed (锯)and shaped (成形), and establishments that purchase sawed lumber and make wood products.322Paper ManufacturingIt includes the manufacturing of pulp(纸浆)and manufacturing of converted paper products.323Printing and Related Support ActivitiesIndustries in this subsector print products, such as newspapers, books, periodicals (期刊), business forms, greeting cards, and other materials, and perform support activities, such as bookbinding(装订), platemaking(制版)services, and data imaging. This industry comprises establishments engaged in printing on apparel and textile products, paper, metal, glass, plastics, and other material, except fabric (grey goods). Establishments in this industry do not manufacture the stock that they print but may perform postprinting activities, such as bending, cutting, or laminating the materials they print, and mailing.324Petroleum and Coal Product ManufacturingThis subsector is based on the transformation of crude petroleum and coal into usable products. The dominant process is petroleum refining(精炼)and further process of refined petroleum and coal products.325Chemical ManufacturingIt is based on the transformation of organic(有机)and inorganic(无机)raw materials by a chemical process and the formulation of products. However, it does not include any transforming raw chemicals by a chemical process. Examples are: manufacturing of dye(染色), pigment(颜料), resin(树脂), synthetic(人造)rubber, pesticides(农药), fertilizers(肥料), pharmaceutics(配药), medicine, paint and coating, soap and cleaning compound.326Plastics and Rubber Products ManufacturingThis subsector make goods by processing plastics material and raw rubber. Examples are: manufacturing of plastic bag, laminated sheet, polystyrene foam, plastic bottle and containers, rubber hoses and tubing.327Nonmetallic Mineral Product ManufacturingThis subsector transforms mined or quarried nonmetallic minerals, such as sand, gravel, stone, clay and refractory materials into products for intermediate or final consumption. This subsector includes establishments that manufacture products, such as bricks, refractories, ceramic products; and glass and glass products, such as plate glass and container. Also included are cement and concrete products.3271Clay Product and Refractory Manufacturing3272Glass and Glass Product Manufacturing331Primary Metal ManufacturingIndustries in this subsector smelt(熔炼) and/or refine ferrous(含铁的) and nonferrous metals from ore(矿石), pig or scraps; manufacture metal alloys(合金) and superalloys(超合金).332Fabricated Metal Product ManufacturingIndustries in this subsector transform metal into intermediate or end products. Important fabricated metal processes are forging(锻造), stamping, forming, and machining, used to shape individual pieces of metal; and other processes, such as welding(焊接) and assembling, used to joint separate parts together.333Machinery ManufacturingSimilar to those used in metal fabricating establishments, machinery manufacturing is different because it typically employs multiple metal forming processes in manufacturing the various parts of the machine.334Computer and Electronic Produce ManufacturingIt involves the manufacture of computers, computer peripherals(外围的), communications equipment, and similar electronic products.335Electrical Equipment, Appliance, and Component Manufacturing Industries in this subsector manufactures products that generate, distribute and use electrical power. For examples: electric lighting equipment, household appliance, motors, transformer, batteries, wiring devices, etc.336Transportation Equipment ManufacturingIndustries in this subsector produce equipment for transporting people and goods. 337Furniture and Related Product manufacturingIndustries in this subsector make furniture and related articles, such as mattress(床垫), window blinds(窗帘), cabinets and fixtures.339 Miscellaneous ManufacturingThis subsector consists of a wide range of products that cannot readily be classified in the specific NAICS subsectors. The industries in below subsectors are defined by what is made rather than how it is made.339911 Jewelry (except Costume) Manufacturing339912 Silverware and Holloware Manufacturing339914 Costume Jewelry and Novelty Manufacturing339920 Sporting and Athletic Goods Manufacturing339931 Doll and Stuffed Toy manufacturing339932 Game, Toy, and Children’s Vehicle Manufacturing33994 Office Supplies (except paper) Manufacturing。
