环境污染的危害“两个黄鹂鸣翠柳,一行白鹭上青天”,这是唐朝诗人杜甫赞美大自然的名句。
可是现在一些地方由于环境污染的危害,已经见不到这样的美景了。
环境污染不仅破坏了生物的生存环境,而且直接威胁着人类的健康。
1.环境污染对生物的不利影响环境污染对生物的生长发育和繁殖具有十分不利的影响,污染严重时,生物在形态特征、生存数量等方面都会发生明显的变化。
下面分别讲述环境污染在酸雨、有害化学药品、重金属和水体富营养化四个方面对生物的危害。
①.酸雨对生物的危害酸雨使土壤和河流酸化,并且经过河流汇入湖泊,导致湖泊酸化。
湖泊酸化以后不仅使生长在湖中和湖边的植物死亡,而且威胁着湖内鱼、虾和贝类的生存,从而破坏湖泊中的食物链,最终可以使湖泊变成“死湖”。
酸雨还直接危害陆生植物的叶和芽,使农作物和树木死亡。
现在,酸雨造成的危害日益严重,已经成为全球性环境污染的重要问题之一。
二氧化硫是形成酸雨的主要污染物之一。
随着经济的发展,人类将燃烧更多的煤、石油和天然气,产生更多的二氧化硫等污染物,因此,今后酸雨造成的危害有可能更加严重。
我国是世界上大量排放二氧化硫的国家之一,一些地区已经出现了酸雨。
例如,我国西南某地区,1982年的三个月内就降了四次酸雨,雨水的pH为3.6~4.6,致使大面积的农作物受害。
早在19世纪中叶,人们就注意到地衣和苔藓植物不能在空气污染严重的城市中存活,烟囱附近的植物叶片往往出现病斑。
科学家们经过研究后发现,这些现象都与该地区的大气污染有关,并且可以利用一些植物来监测某个地区大气污染的状况。
不同的植物对二氧化硫等大气污染物的敏感程度不同。
例如,大气中二氧化硫的含量比较高时,紫花苜蓿、向日葵等的叶片就会很快褪绿,或者叶脉间出现褐色斑块,严重时叶片逐渐坏死。
这些植物对大气污染反应敏感,可以用来监测大气污染的状况,叫做大气污染指示植物。
②.有害化学药品对生物的危害农药是一类常见的有害化学药品。
人们在利用农药杀灭病菌和害虫时,也会造成环境污染,对包括人类在内的多种生物造成危害。
