一、教材分析

本节课是外研版新标准八年级上Module 9 Population Unit 1 The population

of China is about 1.37 million 第一课时的内容。这是一节听说课。本模块以人口为话题，涉及环境污染，城市发展等内容，这些内容与人们的生活息息相关。通过本模块的学习，学生能掌握冠词的用法及英文大数字的读法，并了解世界人口现状。本节课的对话是由贝蒂，托尼和玲玲正在撰写的有关人口 增长的报告引出的。对话讨论了北京及中国人口问题，很自然地导入冠词和大数字的相关用法和读法。通过第六部分的讨论，让学生了解目前城市的现状及环境问题之，自然激发学生的意识。

二、学情分析

八年级的学生在七年级已经学习了hundred ,thousand和三位数的读法，本节课学习四位数及四位数以上的大数字的读法，这是一个比较难的问题，这就要求学生掌握要领，重点掌握几个逗号的读法。同时本节课学习人口问题，学生对此话题知识掌握的较少，所以本节课重点掌握第三本部分和第五部分，学生会写有关入口问题的报告。

通过学习用英语的大数字来表述世界人口和中国人口的实际情况，让学生了解了解人口数量大和人口过剩所造成的污染，噪音，环境等问题，从而增强学生对人口控制和环境保护的意识，让学生成为有富有爱心的人。 4. 学习策略

Step 1 Lead in

Review the key language points in this module by having a short dialogue with

the students. (详见素材一导入一)

Step 2 Grammar

1．Work in pairs. Ask the students to read the large numbers in Activity 1, then

listen to the tape and pay attention to the large numbers.

2．Tell the students to read the questions in Activity 3 and then look at the

chart and answer the questions.

3．Let the students complete the passage in Activity 4, then discuss how to use

articles and write them down.

1．Ask the students to complete the sentences in Activity 5 and review how to

make comparisons between two things.
