新加坡

新加坡是位于马来半岛最南端的一个岛屿，勤劳勇敢的人民在这片弹丸之地创造出了许多世界奇迹，成为亚洲乃至世界的航运中心。新加坡是一个城市国家，原意为“狮城”。据马来史籍记载，公元1324年左右，苏门答腊的室利佛逝王国王子乘船到达此岛，在现今的新加坡河口无意中发现一头动物形若狮子，于是把这座小岛取名Singapore。Singa就是狮子的意思，Pore则代表城市，而狮子具有勇猛、雄健的特征，故以此作为地名，这就是新加坡 “狮城” 的来历。

新加坡是一个多语言的国家，拥有四种官方语言：华语、英语、马来语和泰米尔语。基于和马来西亚的历史渊源，《新加坡宪法》明定马来语为新加坡的国语。新加坡曾经是英国的直辖殖民地，因此政府机构一直采用英语，作为不同种族社群之间的主要通行语和教学语。新加坡华裔的籍贯相当繁杂也趋于多样化，政府在1979年推广“讲华语运动”，目的是要扭转华人使用方言的习惯，改以华语（普通话）作为新加坡华裔的沟通语言。

新加坡是一个多元民族的国家，政府实行种族平等政策治国，这里没有种族歧视和纷争，而极为可贵的是，新加坡4大族群自独立以后，齐心协力共同营造新加坡。截至2011年12月，新加坡总人口超过518万，其中325万人属于新加坡公民和53万个永久居民简称 "PR"，居住在新加坡的外籍人士数目相当多，共有约155万人。新加坡华人即汉族占新加坡公民人口中的74.1%，而马来人、印度裔和欧亚裔占人口的25.9%。新加坡绝大部分的华人来自中国福建、广东、浙江和海南等地，其中4成是闽南人，其次为潮汕人、广府人、客家人、海南人和福州人等。[1]
