所以，有许多成语留有外来文化的痕迹，比如，上面提到的与佛教有关的那些成语就是这样。
下面我再举一些例子。
“三位一体、象牙之塔、火中取栗、泥塑巨人”等也是外来成语，但是，汉语成语中的“舶来品”极少。
这是成语的本质所决定的，因为人们在翻译时，碰上一条外民族成语，常采用含义跟它相当的汉语成语来对译的缘故。
在此不妨举几个汉语成语与外民族成语（外民族成语均直译为汉语）的例子作点补充。
像汉语成语“入乡随俗”，英语则是“到罗马就要像罗马人一样”；汉语“实事求是”，英语则是“铁锹就是铁锹”；汉语“一贫如洗”，俄语则是“光秃如铁杵”；汉语“对牛弹琴”，俄语则是“把珍珠投到猪面前”；汉语“殷鉴不远”，法语则是“滑铁卢就在前面”；汉语“青出于蓝”，蒙语则是“后长的犄角比先长的耳朵硬”；汉语“一箭双雕”，而英语是“一石二鸟”，俄语是“一石两兔”，德语是“一拳双蝇”；等等总之，通过对“文化”与“成语”的观察，我们不难发现二者的关系是“你中有我，我中有你”，彼此密不可分。
不过，本人的阐述也仅限于举隅性的，浮光掠影式的，成语中丰富多样的文化底蕴，还有待于人们作更为广泛的挖掘、更为深入的探究。
外来成语的意义变化外来词是指从其他民族语言中吸收来的词语。
在民族交往的过程中，在文化交流中，语言的相互吸收是不可避免的，这会使得不同语言的语汇变得更加丰富。
而汉语中的外来成语则绝大多数与佛教的传播有关，其中不少已成为汉语词汇的不可分割的一部分，人们甚至已经意识不到它们是外来的了。
例如：“梦幻泡影”意思是说世界上的一切就象梦中所见、幻术变化、水中泡沫、镜中影像一样，虚而不实。
后来用它比喻空不实在的东西或不能实现的妄想。
这个成语源出《金刚经•应化非真分》：“一切有为法，如梦幻泡影，如露亦如电，应作如是观。
” “昙花一现”，比喻事物难得出现或事物一出现很快就消失。
